2 night stay
We checked out today. We spent 2 nights here. Our stay here was great. The check-in was great due to Sara. She was so nice! We felt so welcome. The rooms were recently updated with a nice bathroom, thou small. We were in one of the 2 units that are parallel. We had a parking lot view. The rate we got was $200 a night. No tubs. The AC was nice and cool. There wasn’t any noise from neighbors. Bed was comfy. The beach access was close and there were outside showers to clean off sand.
This trip was a much needed two night getaway to Fort Walton Beach after a very stressful family event. Check in was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. When I first checked in I had a small problem with the room I first checked into, so I advised Becky at the front desk about the issue and she took care of it immediately with a smile and great efficiency. My guestroom had a beautiful view from my second-floor balcony overlooking the courtyard and pool. The room was extremely clean. I enjoyed the view as well as the convenience of being able to park close to my room. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over many years and always enjoy my stay. The service, atmosphere, and facilities are first rate! I’d also like to commend Becky at the front desk who was so very helpful during my stay. She is a wonderful asset to this hotel. Thanks for a great stay. I hope to see y’all soon!
Great Service, Great Food
While the exterior of the outward facing original structure reflects bygone designs, the rooms have been updated and are very clean and comfortable. The most surprising aspect of this trip has been the foot at the outdoor bar/dining called The Upper Deck. The chef, Angel, consistently makes great meals, and is also very engaging and fun with guests. The prices are very reasonable, and make it hard to go elsewhere for breakfast of lunch. The other staff there are super friendly and attentive. Kudos to Lynn, Alec, and Deborah Lee as well. This is a great crew. The beach is easily accessed and a short walk from the Upper Deck. I would come back definitely.
Dirtiest hotel I've stayed in- how in world does it get "very good" rating?
Stayed here 5 nights in the 2 queen beach tower suite with views. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that the front staff was very friendly and enjoyable, and the suites are a decent size (and do have a wonderfully large balcony to enjoy the views). Other than that, this place was down right unclean and gross, especially with COVID concerns. Rooms are outdated, dark, and depressing. Sitting furniture was stained, lamps were scuffed, sand and mold in corners. Deck table falling apart. Paint peeling from our room door/around deck. The courtyard was very nice, but the areas around the beach tower like the outdoor showers were never cleaned once while we were there. Would see food, bottles, and pool towels lying around for days without being picked up. The walkways to the rooms and elevator areas were some of the dirtiest I've ever experienced. Spilled ketchup and trash on stairs the whole time we stayed. Housekeeping picked up our trash and moved to a different trash can beside the stairwell. Strange! Finally, by day 3, after they announced via text, the parking garage would be shut down for safety repairs and it would be very noisy, we decided to find a different place to stay. However, my sister used her Capital One points (that she'd been saving for years) to pay for the room, and there was no guarantee she'd get those reimbursed, so we stayed. To pay nearly $300 per night, is unacceptable, especially considering with COVID issues all amenities were not avail.
Worst Hotel ever
As soon as we arrived to the room we noticed a musty odor. My 2 daughters are asthmatics, so I requested to be moved to another room. We were given the keys of the worst, nastiest, hotel room that we have ever been. We couldn’t believe how disgusting that room was. Not only we encountered the same strong offensive, moldy smell but this room had a cockroach right beside the bed, blood stains on the bed and the toilet paper had urine or feces stains on it. You had to see it to believe it. I couldn’t believe I had just paid 256$ to stay in the most deplorable, gross, place someone can choose to spend a night with the family. The nightmare was not the room but the front desk receptionist. I approached him in a very kind and slightly embarrassed way because I needed another room. The man answered me quickly and said, Mrs. . .... we are fully booked and we don’t have another room, I asked him to check me out and refund my money because I could not stay in a nasty, sickening room like the one he had just assigned me. He said that he couldn’t refund my money, that it was too late to cancel the reservation and that if I wanted he could send someone to refresh the room. Refresh the room? How are you going to refresh a room that has strong mildewed odor and infested with roaches? Of course, I said NO . Sir. I am not leaving the hotel until you refund my money, I said. The man raised his voice and said “ then you will have to leave the property escorted by the police”. Perfect sir, you can call the police, I will gladly explain that I had been robbed and offended by an insolent, fake manager. The man kept asking me to leave the property because he had other guests coming in to check in in a “ fully booked hotel”. I stubbornly responded that I was not leaving the property and that I will proceed to inform the incoming guests about the unhealthy conditions of his hotel. At this point, a woman with real manager skills came. The lady apologized an proceeded to refund my money.
