the hotel clerk insisted i make a deposit in cash and not with a credit card like any normal hotel. i asked for an ATM and there is not one nearby she vaguely said in town i could find one there! the price for pets was listed on a sign in the lobby ($15) but she charged me $20 even though I pointed it out to her. room had dog hair from previous guests lining the carpet.
Fine for the night while on the road
This place was fine as we were traveling on a road trip. No problems! It is the Econo Lodge, it is not a 5 star hotel so don't expect it. We had a downstairs room and it was fine. Breakfast was good, simple and adaquate.
Get what you pay for
Traveling through and stopped without reservations. Room itself is clean. The beds are firm. The bathroom was horrendous. No security flip lock. The breakfast consisted of premade cold scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits, waffle, choice of cold cereal, machine juice, coffee and milk. If there was fresh fruit, it was gone by 7am. If passing through again, I will keep on going.
This is the second time I stayed here. I will always stay at Econo Lodge when I visit Diamondhead. My mom said was the cleanest hotel she's been in. I didn't have to reclean tub or anything. Was very shinny. Nice staff as well. Delicious make yourself waffle breakfast.
Unbelievable rudeness from management
I drove from North Dakota to visit family and paid for 2 rooms, 1 for 2 days and 1 for 1 day for my family members. The next day after they checked out at 11 they hung around the pool for a couple more hours with myself and daughter, we then got ready and went out for supper before they were going to go home; when we returned the manager stated that visiting people should not last longer than 2 hours and told my family they had to leave right now. I had a room for 2 nights and paid for their room the night before. The manager on duty was very rude to myself and family and I will not recommend or stay at an Econo Lodge ever again. I have traveled a lot and been to several hotels and have never had a problem with my family visiting, especially when I paid for them to have a room the night before, unacceptable!
