Overall our trip was great. It’s definitely worth the preferred upgrade. Carlos and Hector in the preferred club ARE THE BEST! They made amazing craft cocktails! The rooftop pool is where we spent most of our time and Jesus always took care of us, keeping our drinks full! Also Eduardo at the beach bar was awesome. The food would be the only complaint I had. It was just ok. And the service in the restaurants could be a little too slow for me. I personally don’t like sitting at a restaurant waiting for 2+ hours. And the nightlife wasn’t great. Everything closes at 11 due to covid so they weren’t opening the night club.
Ok hotel - but some of the Best food I've had at an all-inclusive!
We had a corner room with the sliding glass walls that opened up on 2 sides, such a great and thoughtful design. However, I'm pretty sure that we had the absolute worst location for that particular room type. We were on the lowest floor possible in the back of the hotel, and although we could see the ocean on the short side of the corner the longer side overlooked a vacant lot (see photo). I'm just not sure why they would put us in such a crappy room when we were preferred club and they were only at 70% or less occupancy.... In any case, we still had a great time and the food was the best. On the first day we discovered this passion fruit desert that was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life! I also need to mention the shrimp aguachili at the preferred club restaurant, everything there was great but I highly recommend that dish. I've read a lot of reviews about the hotel and I will say this, everyone that says the beach sucks is correct, it really does. The seaweed on the beach is rotting out in the sun and it stinks to high heaven. It's particularly annoying when you can see the hotel zone, with it's beautiful beaches, in the distance. The other thing that I've noticed that people comment on is the wind. I don't know if we were just lucky but the wind was never an issue, not even close, a nice gentle breeze was the most we experienced. Also, access to the preferred lounge is completely worth it, some of the cocktails there aren't available anywhere else in the hotel. Overall, I had a great time as I mentioned above and on top of that I was pleased with the service. My travel partner liked it even more than me. Would I stay there again? Probably not, the room view and beach were a real disappointment and I can make aguachile at home.
Unfortunately Dreams Vista was not what I was expecting. Let's start with the service. Once you arrive you will be treated with the best service as possible, but once the days pass, service starts to lack. The person that received us, greeted us soooo wonderful and made us so many promises and guess what? The next day we were supposed to do something with those time share people and he didn't show up to work and supposedly left everything under control and no one knew anything. At the end of our time share meeting the girl who was trying to convince us in buying the time share got upset cause we weren't accepting her numbers she was giving us. At the end, someone else came in and we did end up being part of a time share but not with that girl that definitely did not know how to do customer service. During the following days we had 3 rooms reserved and on my sister-in-laws room the A/C unit was dripping so much water that it flooded her luggage. Her luggage was an expensive one (which was a gift) and the general manager didn't even offer to clean it or some one make the apology better. She had to literally get upset so the general manager could change them to another room where the A/C unit was not dripping. To me that was very low class service. Then the following day on my parents room, their refrigerator also started leaking. they just came in to clean up and that was it. Good thing nothing else got wet, only the rug in the room. I'm sorry but for the kind of hotel this is and star rated... it surely did not level up to it. The rooms were ok, all rooms had an ocean view and pool view. Hotel location is not that close to the Cancun Hotel Zone, so if you like to come out of the hotel and walk down, this is not the prefect stay. Now if you want to just stay in and relax then this is suppose to be the hotel but not sure if your gonna want to stay. Hotel has almost all day somewhere to eat, unfortunately when we checked in we were so hungry that we asked around where we could eat and no one was able to help us. we had to wait till 6pm for the evening restaurants to open. So you have 24 hour room service. Keep in mind it takes 1 hour to be delivered. In the morning you have a place for breakfast, it's buffet. Not much variety and food was not that great in all times speaking. Some of the chefs did not have the best attitude and when you asked to be served a little more or when asked for something to be made they would give you this look or just say "we can't make it" knowing us the day before someone else did make it. To me the perfect station that we never had issues was the girl at the Crepes station. She was so sweet and always had a smile. If you like the beach, this is not the place for you either. My husband and i love the beach and this beach was sooooo small and not nice at all. we went to Isla Mujeres to actually have a good beach. i wanted to stay there the rest of my stay and not come ack to my hotel. The pool is a pretty size pool but there weren't a lot of servers to bring you drinks. we had to go get our own drinks several times. Not sure if cause of covid everything is barely getting back on track but attitude issues here were definitely a big factor in not coming back along with the beach. Hotel to me was real pretty but not enough to come back. Hope my review helps.
Avoid this all inclusive hotel, too many issues that will never be able to fix.
1) Crazy windy. An umbrella is going to take someone out. It howls at the end of hotel. I like a breeze, but the wind is an issue. This will never change 2) Shade at the only pool after 230. The way this cruise ship like hotel sits is a problem. This will never change 3) No beach. The beach is non-existent. The water is really mushy and there is a bad odor when your in the water. This will never change 4) Surf pools are always broken. An employee told me they tried to build these way to economical and they are having tons of issues. They have a little kids one that worked some of the time, but only operated it from 3-5. This will never change. 5) Teens club is opened 11-7 and not at night. The night is when we as parents would want our kids to have a safe place to hang out. This could and should change, but based on the managements attitude, I doubt it will. 6) Preferred Club is a double edged sword. If you travel as a family, the only draw is rooftop pool, but with the surf pools not open during the day, shade on pool after 230, and no beach where do they go when you want to enjoy the rooftop pool. That is literally the only draw for preferred. And if you are traveling as a couple, why would you go to a family resort with the above mentioned issues? Go to another resort. Secrets or one of the other numerous adult only resorts. The food is not superior to other resorts and honestly the food is basically the same throughout the resort just prepared a little different. You can easily find the same quality at this tier of resort without all the issues this hotel will have. This is an honest review from someone that has been to several resorts. We pay a lot of money to travel as Americans and to experience this resort was a disappointment. None of this will ever change. There was the top 500 travel agents there for a function and the ones I talked to would never send families to this resort. And they also shared the same sentiment. With the amount of options available, why would they send anyone to this resort with what was mentioned. They would set up themselves with disappointed clients. The best part of our vacation was isla mujeras. We walked to the pier and took the ferry over for the day. The pic is from the room with a nice dirty brown pond.
Dreams Vista was EXCEPTIONAL! I had the opportunity to teach yoga on the gazebo over the water for 1 week there & loved everything about this resort. The staff were friendly, helpful, and genuine souls. Such good vibes everywhere!! The cleanliness of the resort was unparalleled. Food was fantastic & they could even accommodate dietary restrictions (dairy free). The positive work morale of the team there is something you don't come across often! They truly enjoyed their jobs and were happy to be there. Overall, this resort is pure luxury!!!
