    Outstanding Service.

    Our family just spent a week at this resort had excellent service from all of the servers bringing drinks tobus at the beach, pools and restaurants. Specifically, Carlos, Joel and Meila (sp?). These three were personable, interacted with our children well and anticipated our needs. All in all they contributed to the experience we enjoyed at the resort and they deserve commendation.

    Dreams was disappointing!

    Having stayed at sprawling resorts like the Riu Palace, Hyatt etc. and especially since this was our first vacation in 2 years, thanks to Covid-19, we felt very disappointed by Dreams, which we had high hopes for! We paid quite a bit for this resort and we feel very cheated! Pros: 1.The specialty restaurants have high quality food, equivalent to a fine dining place. 2. The wait staff at the restaurants were very attentive. Cons: 1. The buffet has very limited choices, mostly all Mexican food with the menu barely changing from one day to the next. Many times salad, fruit etc. sat out looking very sad, making it seem like they were out there for hours! 2. There was one one towel station for all the swimming pools, also the whole time we were there towels felt like a rare commodity. The standard answer was that there were no towels because they were being laundered! 3. There was no entertainment for older kids. Activities and entertainment for adults was very limited, compared to other all-inclusives we've stayed at. This forced us to seek options outside the resort because we were bored, hence defeating the purpose of an all-inclusive resort. Thankfully we made the trip with three other families who are super fun, else we would have been very bored! 4. The drinks were very watered down. 5. The 24X7 bakery was a small place which would allow only 4 people at a time and had very limited choices. 6. The sushi place had limited choices and was more of an "appetizer" place. You could not re-order the same food. We had to go to another restaurant after, since we were all still hungry. Also, the sushi was so-so. 7. It looked like the place was very short-staffed - from another review it looks like the resort had offered huge discounts to locals to fill up their rooms, which explains why it seemed like us Americans were such a minority there. The least the resort could have done was to add more staff, to accommodate the extra people. 8. At the time we booked the trip, we were not told that the resort shared grounds with other condos.

    Dreams was a Nightmare

    Like many people we were excited to finally being able to get away after 2 years, fully aware that COVID has had an impact on the tourist industry but never dreamt that a travel agency would sell this package for what we paid for what we got. We booked our 2 weeks with WestJet Vacations picking Dreams as we had been to Secrets and really enjoyed. We thought Dreams Villamagna in Neuvo Vallarta was a 4 star resort just 1 star less, were we wrong. We paid more for this than we paid for Secrets both times upgrading to Preferred. We should have had our first clue when we were dropped off with our luggage outside of at the security gate, not at the Hotel Lobby. We understood that there may be some children as it was not an adult only resort. We were not made aware that the Hotel had offered major discounts to the people in nearby Mexican cities to fill unoccupied rooms. We totally agree we all deserve a vacation however we did not expect the resort to be overun with hundreds of children who are not vaccinated. By choosing an American hotel we thought we would have less exposure our plan was to stay at the hotel with things to do. Service The staff were awesome and did their very best to make you happy, but they were short staffed and worked very hard and long hours. Shame on Management for not staffing to deal with the infux of very large local families that they had marketed to. There are so many wonderful people so we don’t want to name only a few in case we miss someone. Accommodation Room was very tired, black grout in the shower, glass badly stained, corroded taps. Furniture had seen better days. We went to wipe up some spilt water from the dresser and it came off black, not sure how it was cleaned. Beach towels were often not available, we asked if a couple could be left in our room but this was not possible, then we saw that other Preferred Club not only got towels but a beach bag as well. Food & Beverage There were 4 à la carte restaurants and a buffet but they were never all open even when there were huge line ups. We were in line one day for over an hour and many mornings we didn’t go to breakfast at the buffet as the line up was too long. There was only one choice for breakfast and on our last day it was line up again and we were told we could go to the a la carte. We had asked about this before but were told it was not available. The buffet had limited choices and was mostly Mexican fare. I believe that the chefs did their best to offer good food but it is hard to do this with inferior supplies. Presentation was very good but hard to get a hot meal. We enjoy wine both white and red and being preferred club, we expected half decent wine but the same wine was served everywhere and it was not good, the Sauvignon Blanc was not drinkable. We paid for upgraded liquor as was advertised. Amenities There were three pools but for a large part of our vacation they were always filled with yelling, screaming kids, not even one pool for the adults. The chairs were scarce, uncomfortable and there was very few umbrellas/shade. The beach chairs and palapas were poor and the palapas needed replacing. There were very few restrooms, unless you were close to the hotel and even then only 3 stalls in one of the restaurants. We were not made aware that the amenities were also shared with condominium owners/VRBO and there were 16 towers of 10 floors, 2,3 & 4 bedroom units. Preferred Club Don’t waste your money, we went for breakfast and the waiter was great but the food was cold even when it just arrived from the kitchen. It was however great to get a piece of toast and a decent cup of hot coffee. Afternoon hors d'oeuvres' were non existent. Anyone could go there as it was not a lounge but just some furniture placed adjacent to the elevator area on one of the floors. If you finish reading this you may think we are picky people, but we have travelled extensively taking groups all over the world and we have never ever experienced or put anything like this on trip advisor. We would not recommend this resort and felt it only fair to let people know. We had checked reviews before going and since returning and I am not sure if were at the same resort or maybe they had had more drinks than us 😊

    November visit to Dreams

    My husband and I stayed at Dreams for a week in November. We had a preferred club room on the 7th floor. Overall, I thought the stay was great. This is probably the 8th all inclusive we have stayed at in the last 10 years or so. Our room was clean with a fabulous view. A few things that we needed fixed such as hairs that weren’t ours cleaned out of the balcony hot tub or a shower chair for my husband because he has a prosthetic and needs to kneel in the shower were promptly taken care of by housekeeping. The staff seemed to take Covid seriously and precautions were in place and followed. This was important to us. The grounds were smaller than we are used to and there wasn’t a lot of activity going on. I’m not sure if that is since Covid or if it’s just a quieter resort. We do like to mingle with other people at the bar and there wasn’t any seats set up at any of the bars. Again, I’m guessing this is a covid thing, which I do understand. We thought the food was great. We never had a wait at any of the sit down restaurants. The buffet was fine for breakfast. The bar drinks did seem weak, but honestly, I don’t want to be drunk on vacation, so I personally like drinking all day and not feeling like crap. I am a bit if a wine snob and the house red and white were drinkable. I knew I would be a little disappointed in the beach as I’m used to the Caribbean Sea with the shades of blue. It was a little rougher and murkier. We were told this is due to this being after rainy season and runoff from the rivers into the ocean. This makes sense. It was Warner than I was expecting. There was also a crocodile spotted on and bear our beach, so they were discouraging people from getting into the ocean. Apparently the blue flag means jellyfish, but also can mean crocodiles. The staff were very nice and tried to meet all our needs. Pool service was great. They worked hard and we tipped well. It’s been a rough 18 months for everyone. We did a few tours which I’d highly recommend. We did the luxury sailing tour with Vallarta Adventures. If you book ahead of time on line, you get a 30 percent discount. The water was warm and beautiful. We saw dolphins all around our. Okay. Meals and drinks were included. We felt very spoiled. The second tour was a trip to San Sebastián. It was a long ride up there and the roads were a little rough. It was beautiful and felt very authentic. We learned about tequila and visited a small, family distillery. We were never big dabs of tequila other than in a margarita and we loved learning about it and tried some really good stuff. The dreaded covid test at the end was not so bad. Yes, they do go up further than most US tests I’ve had, but it was quick and they were gentle. We really enjoyed our trip to Dreams and the PV/Nuevo Vallarta area. No, it isn’t the Ritz, but we didn’t pay Ritz prices either. We are go with the glow kind of people just glad to be on a beach, sipping a drink without snow falling on us.

    Wow - this is a top notch hotel !!! We loved it from the minute we got there to the minute we left.

    We just got back - and WOW is all I can say. From the minute we walked in we all ready felt like family. All of the staff are so accommodating ! The first smile we saw was Carolina and she was so helpful. Captain Pau helped us with the food and the beverages. Had a romantic dinner on the beach and highly recommended for anyone. The pools and the rooms were so clean. You can make this place as relaxing as you want. Went on two tours and so glad we got to see the country of PV. Can't wait to return. The food was awesome. We have zero to complain about. The rooms were clean and we never had to ask for anything. It was always available. All of the staff worked so hard and I give them huge credit for working nonstop. They were so fun to chat with and helpful. I honestly can't wait to return as I would definitely go back.
