Here is what you need to know….

TIME SHARE TRAP. When you arrive at the Tulum airport, DO NOT entertain the people who greet you at baggage claim. They will ask you if you are “Dreams Tulum” and pretend are setting up your transportation. They are not. They only use that as an ice breaker to hard sell to set you up for those annoying presentations at the resort. Also, prepare for there to be MULTIPLE encounters where you will be nudged to participate in one with the typical offer of cash for your time. This was a major turnoff. TRANSPORTATION: AFTER you grab your luggage there will be people near the exit help you with transportation. Once you get to the resort, be prepared to pay AT LEAST $30 USD each way for the 7-8 mile ride into Tulum downtown and AT LEAST $50 each way to the Tulum hotel strip where the trendy clubs and restaurants are. There are scooters and rental cars, which we didn’t bother with. People who did both said that moving about was a bit sketchy. In any event, ALWAYS LEAVE YOUR PASSPORT at the hotel. Take another form of ID to move about. FOOD: All of the restaurants are magnificent. 10/10. Be a dear and tip your helpers. They will take great care of you. The bars are good. Definitely order your favorite beverages at any of the restaurants. ACCOMMODATIONS: We got a swim up room. Be clear that the pool is more like a moat around a courtyard and doesn’t open up or lead to a larger pool. It’s cool for a quick soak, though. The rooms are generally well kept but it’s a bit older We had a leaky ceiling in the bathroom and had to remember to jiggle the handle on the commode to stop it from running. THE BEACH. We came in June. Don’t disregard seaweed season. It is REAL. Very few people actually got into the water because the seaweed was so thick! We cooled off in the pools instead and it was super fine. But if you HAVE to swim on the beach, you may want to be aware of the timing of your trip. VIP/PREFERRED UPGRADE. It is worth it? Nah. There is nothing that sets VIP apart while you’re on the property. Yeah, you get a VIP check in where you get some pastries or whatever when you check in but you get unlimited free food anyway with your stay. They offer you some “VIP” coupons, but you have to get them at the “regular” lobby so they can ask you if you signed up for the timeshare presentation before you get them. Just give me my freaking coupons.🙄 THE SPA: It was nice. We booked ours with a guy on the beach who was walking around. He offered us WAY better discounts than the “VIP” ones. PICTURES: Take pics with the folks when they offer. You aren’t obligated to buy them but it is nice to have the option. Thats all I can think of now.😂

    Would not recommend.

If you’re wanting good food, a nice beach, and things to do on the resort, I would not recommend. First off, the food was awful. The only thing decent were the quesadillas that were only available through room service. Most of the “restaurants” weren’t air conditioned and didn’t have fans / air flow so you’re dripping sweat the entire meal, which makes it hard to even enjoy. Second, the beach is covered in seaweed and you can’t just get into the water without having to walk over mounds of seaweed. Third, IF YOU DONT TIP THEM, THEY WILL NOT COME SERVE YOU ON THE BEACH / OR THE POOL. We found this out the second day we were there (we stayed 7 nights). We were tipping every other drink and the service was great. The third day I forgot my wallet in the room so I wasn’t able to tip…. We got served ONCE and not again the entire day. So I tested it out the next day and we ended up not getting serviced again and again. You’re paying tons of money to be at this all inclusive and tipping is optional. It shouldn’t be a requirement. They will hover over you for a couple of seconds expecting a tip. Also, the drinks are NOT COLD. The glasses are also not cold. Fourth, the room was nice. The mini fridge didn’t keep any drinks cold which was a bummer considering it’s nice to have a cold water / drink after a hot long day at the beach. Fifth, there isn’t any water sports which isn’t a huge issue but if you’re looking for that, I again wouldn’t recommend staying here. LASTLY, the one thing that really made me pissed off was we were told we had to meet with someone the day after we had arrived for an orientation. It was supposed to take 90 minutes and they make it sound like you HAVE TO GO. It was in reference to time shares etc. We were there TWO HOURS and kept telling them NO we are NOT interested. They kept HOUNDING us and would not take no for an answer. They kept bringing over a new person each time we said NO. Finally I told them “Look, we have said NO multiple times and I’m not going to say it again. This conversation is done and we need to wrap this up.” Because it’s so aggravating having to keep saying NO and then asking WHY a hundred times. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this resort and we will be staying else where next time.

My wedding & 10 night stay was perfect

The reason my stay was absolutely flawless was because of Mariana from the wedding planning team. She made this experience stress free and beyond my wildest expectations, my wedding and all of our guests experience was wonderful. While the staff at the entire hotel was SO wonderful, kind, attentive, and lovely; Mariana went above and beyond for my husband and I to make sure our day was perfect. There was not a single detail this gal did not think of. I am telling you Mariana is the BEST at what she does. I was very hesitant to plan everything over email and just hope for the best, but she delivered a wedding for us that was better than anything I could have possibly dreamed up on my own. My stay in general was also great! Food was delicious, variety was amazing, grounds are well kept, and the amenities are top tier. What a memorable trip for us and our 60 closest family and friends, we are so happy we chose Dreams!

    Wonderful stay!

I see a lot of bad reviews about this resort so we were skeptical and expected the worst. However we had a wonderful experience! Our room was clean and the worked very well, which helped after a long day of being outside in the sun. Restaurants are good. The food is a hit or miss depending on what you order. I prefer going to get Breakfast at the buffet as you get to pick what you want to eat. (plus room service for breakfast is pretty limited). Staff is always smiling and ready to help. Our room was always clean when we came back after a long day. Bartenders are super friendly and cracking jokes. You get back the energy you give out! The only downside was that the toilet didn't flush properly and we had to hold it down for a few seconds. On our second day, water accumulated in the ceiling and burst in the shower during the night. They came as soon as we called to come and fix it and patched it up. The day after there was some ceiling pieces on the floor but we don't know where those came from. Overall, it was a good experience and we would recommend this resort. Might not be the case for some people but I didn't have any complaint other than the bathroom. Thank you Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa!

    Top notch experience all around!!!

My family and I have been to many of the all inclusive resorts owned by Hyatt now. I have to say for an overall experience, this is in our top 3. Everything was top notch from the service, the food, the atmosphere and the views. Everytime we walked by a worker, they always said hello and were so kind to everyone. I never had any bad food while I was here. The food from room service, the restaurants, the pool side grill, etc were all top notch. The atmosphere has something for everyone. Bars, restaurants, shows, and quit time to relax in your room. We got upgraded mid stay so we had two conceirge people. May and Renata were always attentive to our needs and always checked in on us to see if we needed anything. Angel from the preferred club was excellent. He checked in on us to see how everything was going and always stopped by to chat when he saw us. Natalia from the UVC club (for which we have been members for 10 years) was absolute top notch when it came to service and taking care of her guests. She checked in on us everyday as well to see how things were going and she always attended to any needs that we had. The drive from the Tulum airport to Dreams Tulum is about an hour, but that is closer than Cancun which I understand is 2 hours. We will be back to this resort for sure.
