It was in February, which feels like another lifetime (pre-quarantine time) so it's foggy, but my daughters were reminiscing tonight about the trip and it reminded me for the millionth time to finally write a review! I will just say that it was a GREAT resort - full of life and energy and excellent food and just the best people. I cannot say enough good things about the Explorers Club for kids. My girls LOVED it (ages 6 & 8) - we could barely get them to eat dinner with us once they learned they could do it with their beloved leaders and friends there!! THANK YOU to all of the entertainment team and all the staff (including the yoga instructor) who made it all so wonderful. Just a beautiful spot in the world, and a very well-run one at that!
Terrific return stay at Dreams Sands Cancun
What a great return trip to Dreams Sands! We stayed in 2018 and returned again March 2020. This time we made a Preferred Club reservation, at an additional charge, thru Cheap Carribean.com. It was worth every penny. We arrived at the hotel greeted with hot towels, drinks, and immediate check-in at the Preferred club lounge. The rooms weren't ready at check-in, but they took our bags, we ate lunch and then our rooms were ready. The preferred lounge was a great way to end the day before going to dinner. Armando was a terrific bartender and he always had a smile :) The rooms could use a little freshening up, paint etc. Also, the bathroom shower is partially open and it's difficult keeping water from getting on the floor. We notice these issues from our last stay as well. We had a small problem with our room on this trip, and they moved us to a nicer room immediately. Maid service was fantastic - Tila was our maid and her attention to detail was fantastic. We arrived at the start of the covid crisis, before things were shut down, and the attention to cleaning throughout the entire resort was impressive. All of our restaurant experiences were great too. Our favorite is still Waves and Sands for dinner and Olio's for breakfast, but all the restaurants & service were great. La Cevicheria was another favorite at lunch time-this was new from our last stay. The beach is great and always clean. The continued issue at the beach is availability of chairs in the shade. Also, the chair saving starts very early in the morning, which I'm told is common but not great if you don't want to get up early. The resort needs to provide more umbrellas for shade to accommodate the number of guests. We can't wait to go back :)
Not a great honeymoon
As promised we booked and paid extra for a sea view room this view was covered by palm trees, the staff were friendly the Chinese was really nice and the breakfast however the Mexican restaurant was disgusting! There was a damp smell in our bedroom that made me sick! Anyone on honeymoon had a banner on their door we did not! Pushy sales people trying to push things on you! This holiday cost us a lot of money and for the extra few hundred we would have went to the moon palace! Apart from the smelly room and the bad Mexican everything else was fine this is not a five star hotel but we had a good time regardless
BEST VACATION EVER!
This was the 1st all-inclusive vacation I've ever taken, and I WAS SO SATISFIED! The entire hotel staff is amazing, friendly, and hospitable! Shout out to one of the waiters, Bernardo, who was just SOOO awesome! And Daniella in their spa was just great! The only thing I did not like was they schedule a meeting with a resort specialist to give you a gift, but it's really a hook to get you to accept some discount coupons and go through a 90 minute presentation to get you to purchase some hotel chain vacation deals; and if you say no to the presenter, they have you meet 3 more people who try to convince you and look so frustrated if you don't accept their package. This was the only bad thing about it. But I will definitely be coming back here because everything else is just wonderful, and just make sure to say "NO" to any presentation. Also, when you are leaving the airport, there is a small section you have to go thru before you reach the outside. RUN DON'T WALK thru that section! The people at the little booths are people that will act like they are airport reps, but they are really people that will try to get you to sign-up for timeshare meetings or buy packages. JUST SAY NO! The hotel provides better, inexpensive activity/sight-seeing packages.
Recently spent a family vacation 3/2 – 3/6 and wish I could leave a positive feedback with this establishment but it left me very disappointed. 1.) My wife and I noticed how other hotel establishments welcomed their guests’ with hot towels or drink upon arrival. Dream Sands welcomes you with delayed guest services (check in) and pushy sales men wanting to enroll you in their time share program. 2.) Upon checking in, the room was out dated a bit dirty and lacked that Dream package sold in their website. Luggage was delivered 1 hour later. 3.) Room was not cleaned daily. We had to ask the front desk (Reyna) if they could please send someone to clean the room and make the beds. This was a daily request as was communicated the hotel had higher than normal guests staying. 4.) The beach was not a pleasant experience on Day 1. Guests would fight over beach chairs and take ownership. Rather than welcoming us with sales gimmicks, Hotel policies and amenities should have been discussed and reviewed. 5.) Long lines for meals especially breakfast. The food was ok. It’s an all-inclusive, what do you expect. 6.) Decided to have a SPA day for my wife and I. DO NOT BOTHER. It’s overpriced and you do not get that five star service. The SPA does not have a separate men’s and women area. Its just open….when wanting to take advantage of the SPA amenity. 7.) Finally, I gave in to hear what this DREAMS time share package had to offer. You are promised a voucher just for sitting in looking at crumbled/dirty resort books. After having breakfast with the sales rep (odd) and being transferred to different rooms you are finally pitched. The Platinum package will run me $60,000 for a ten to fifteen-year agreement. But if I decide to take advantage of their sale TODAY AND TODAY ONLY. I only pay $45,000 with a $3,000 down payment. Numbers are scribbled on a note pad. I stated I could not commit to this, this is a big purchase and to be honest, I was very disappointed with the service. They apologized as the property was just purchased and are working to ramp it up. I stated the hotel looked nothing like the photoshopped pictures presented. I was left with a bad impression of the hotel which should be considered a MOTEL. The sales rep was very upset and rude after stating I could not commit. In closing Dreams Sands, you pressure your teams with high expectations of closing deals. When you are on vacation you go to relax, not to be harassed by sales representatives awaiting for you as you come in/out of the building through every door. I was very disappointed with the service and hotel. I will be returning to Cancun but NOT ANY OF DREAMS establishments.
