We went March/April 2021 and I can't say enough about how perfect this vacation and property was for our family. Our party had two rooms and three children with us. It was secluded enough that we felt safe letting our teenager and preteen wander around the resort by themselves. They made friends with other kids and had a ball swimming and dining together. The pools, the rooms, the restaurants, the staff, it was all amazing. Our seven year old loved the Explorers club and waterslides. The waitstaff was amazing too. The timeshare pitch was pushy and we did not enjoy that, but I really can't say enough about everything else at Dreams Natura. My kids are already begging to go back and they want to go only to this resort. ha ha! Thanks Dreams for a super fun vacation!
So much fun!
I went on a solo trip and met so many amazing people! The staff was friendly and looked out for me. The resort was clean and I felt very safe. Sinue was amazing too! He made sure I was taken care of daily at the pool.
Great winter getaway
My wife and i traveled with some friends to Dreams Natura in January and our experience was wonderful even through covid. The staff were very friendly, the resort was beautiful and a quick 15 minutes away from the airport. The rooms and resort were very clean and well kept. Dreams Natura had a good selection of restaurants to choose from, really cant go wrong with any of them. Overall we had a great time and an excellent choice for a nice long getaway. Thank you to Lisa Zwissler from Beach Bums for recommending this place and for being extremely helpful through the whole booking process!
Disappointing for a Dreams property
Before I get into the negatives about this property, I want to say the staff is amazing. They all went above and beyond to assist as best they could. If it wasn't for the staff and the friendly people we met, the vacation would have not been as good as it was. From what I understand, this property was supposed to be a Now resort. They opened right before the pandemic and then apparently changed to a Dreams resort and added the slides, lazy river, etc during shut down. It felt as those there were not enough amenities for the number of people there. Knowing that it was previously geared more towards couples and not towards families with small children - that makes sense. Now instead of each room having 2 people, each room has 2+ with their children. There are 553 suites at Natura and 502 suites at Dreams Playa Mujeres. Natura felt like it was a third of the size as Playa Mujeres - so you felt like you were on top of people all week long and met with ridiculous wait times. I have listed out all of the items to be aware of Pools - there is a large adults only pool with a swim up bar. A wading pool for small children, an infinity pool and a second pool close to the stairs to the lobby. If you are traveling with older kids - you only have two pools to choose from and those are packed. The adult pool was almost empty the entire spring break trip we were on as most people were traveling with families. I have been to Dreams Playa before and while there was an adult pool available there were several pools with swim up bars available to families. That kinda stunk as my kids loved going up and ordering their frozen drinks themselves. The lounge chairs were on top of each other. Rows and rows of chairs. All chairs were taken by 7am. If you are not an early riser the chances of you getting a chair were slim to none. The adult pool had a large number of vacant chairs available. Rooms - the rooms were beautiful. We stayed in the Peony suite, which is geared towards weddings. They had a large patio meant to hold cocktail parties or receptions - but mainly it went unused. It is in the corner of the property on floor 4. While I love sitting outside on our balcony at most resorts - I did not here as I felt I was on display for every single room around us. We had a private dinner on the last night and people were yelling down to us. If you want privacy - this is not the room for you. Staffing - while the staff was amazing they are clearly under staffed. I felt awful for them. I am sure this is covid related so i anticipate this to get better. Room Service - probably due to low staffing, we ordered room service twice. The first time they lost our order the second time I canceled it after 2.5 hours. Restaurants - Every resort I have gone to had dress codes at most of the restaurants. This resort only had a dress code at the French. All other restaurants had people in jeans, shorts, tshirts, etc. Some people prefer to have a more relaxed evening - I was expecting dinners to be a little more elegant, similar to Dreams Playa. Not a bad thing, just different from their other resorts. We tried making a Hibachi reservation upon arrival and there were no reservations the entire time we were there. The restaurants were also closed randomly through out the evening with long waits. We waiting 2 hours one evening and 1.5 hours another evening. At the end of the week, I started sending my husband down to get on the list while we were getting ready. I am sure this is also related to low staffing. Entertainment - I have seen videos online and references to entertainment. We went during Easter week and there was minimal entertainment. There was a magic show at 10pm one evening, which we missed due to our 2 hour dinner wait. The other entertainment was bingo nightly and trivia or karaoke. We enjoy the various entertainment resorts usually put on and unfortunately they didn't have anything. The entertainment that did happen was in a conference room. It felt like you were going to a business luncheon instead of evening entertainment. Not sure if the actual Theater was being updated or out of service. Preferred Club - Don't waste your money on this. Compared to the amenities you get at Dreams Playa, we didn't really get anything. No preferred club section at the beach. The Preferred Club lounge was SMALL and never found a place to sit. The liquor selection was not similar to the preferred club in Playa. Food/snack selection was also small in comparison (Only 3 or 4 options). No preferred club restaurant. We did get a cute beach bag, but that was about it. The gift shop was ridiculously priced. My father in law bought some pepto which would have cost $3 in the states. I understand that there is an upcharge, but to charge $30 USD is ridiculous. We ran out of sunscreen and a small bottle was $40 USD. Cheap pool googles for the kids were $50 each (we forgot). Make sure to over pack amenities and double check lists so you aren't stuck paying ridiculous prices. Day food - there is only one snack bar by the waterslides. At Dreams PM you were able to order at your lounge and get pool side service. That was not available. I don't know if this is covid related, but if you are in a wet bathing suit your only option was to wait in the 10/15 person line to get french fries, nachos or pizza. My kids did love the slides, zip line, kids club. Overall, this was a very disappointing vacation. I am shocked that this is a Dreams resort. Besides the friendly staff nothing else seemed to be up to the other Dreams standards. We will not be back.
Beautiful New Resort
We stayed at the Natura for 5 days. The resort was very nice, close to the airport too. The beach was beautiful, the water was a little murky, but still beautiful. We loved our room (Governor Suite) and the staff! Tip them well, they are so deserving and so grateful for the gratuity. The drinks were always good, and the bar wait staff is top notch! The only thing I would say that could be improved would be to have a preferred bar at the pool or beach. We’ve been to other AM resorts with that setup. It isn’t ideal to have to trek to the lobby for a better liquor. The food is good, not outstanding, but not bad. The room service was always good. We ordered it multiple times a day, mainly for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was ideal. Covid restrictions make it hard to enjoy a buffet. The lines wer long and the food just warm. We dined at the Italian, hibachi, and steakhouse for dinners and all were good. As far as covid concerns, I think the resort does a great job on keeping areas and items clean. There are plenty of hand sanitizer stations throughout the resort and items in your room are sanitized and wrapped in plastic prior to your stay (ex. remote control, coffee maker, toiletries). The resort was at 38% capacity during our stay. We never had any issues with overcrowding at anytime.
