Exploring Oahu before getting on a Cruise Ship.
This place was good, the breakfast wasn't free but there was a 7/11 right across the street. Overall, it was very clean and well run. The only thing we didn't like was that you had to valet park your vehicle. But, I don't like to do that anywhere. We didn't have time to try the pool, but we did walk down to Waikiki Beach, it was about a 20 minute walk.

It's ok if you don't mind alarms going off all night and a poor A/C system resulting in a swamp-like hotel room!
This hotel was disappointing and not what I expected from a DoubleTree. Perhaps it was the first one ever built? The A/C did not work properly, so the room felt WET all the time. But the biggest problem I had was that on night 2/3 an alarm went off at 1:30 AM and the staff slowly alerted everyone to disregard. THEN on night 3/3 alarms went off TWICE in the middle of the night and the staff did not bother to tell us whether to evacuate or disregard. Meanwhile there were sirens outside, so we almost evacuated in our PJs thinking there was a real problem. DoubleTree really needs to get maintenance on the alarm system and train staff that if they do wake everyone up in the night with an alarm, to timely let folks know whether to evacuate or stay in place. Aclimating to a time zone 6 hours from my home was hard enough without being disturbed 3 times over 3 nights with very little regard for timely communication with guests. Overall I was terribly disappointed with the hotel. Hilton and DoubleTree, do better.

Friendly service and cozy room with a few disruptions
The housekeeping staff here are truly wonderful - always warm and welcoming, greeting me with a smile and an "aloha" in the hallway. They did a fantastic job keeping the room tidy and refreshing our towels during service. That said, only two towels were provided which can be tricky for two people. I need a whole extra towel just for my long hair! We stayed in a guest room with two queen beds, which worked fine for two adults, though the space is definitely on the smaller side. The bathroom is compact with minimal counter space. While the room could certainly use a refresh in some aspects (looking at you, TV), the beds are comfortable and everything was clean and surprisingly quiet. Unfortunately, the peace didn't last the final two nights of our stay. We were abruptly awakened by the fire alarm twice - once around 1:30 am, which forced us to evacuate, and after returning to the room took me hours to fall back asleep. I thought this was a one-time fluke, but it happened again the very next night. Thankfully, the second time didn't require evacuation, but it definitely rattled our nerves. I've also read other reviews where early check ins are sometimes available and accommodated, and since I arrived around noon with a splitting headache after my flight, I was eager to get to my room ASAP to rest. A room was available, but I still had to pay the $50 early check-in fee (plus tax) to get to my room 3 hours early. While it was worth it in that moment, if rooms are available, it would be great to have that fee waived. As always, delicious cookie provided at check in.

Beware noisy road on mountain side
I recently stayed at this hotel using 45,000 points and had a mostly pleasant experience, though there are a few things to be aware of. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfortable, making for a good night’s rest—if you’re on the right side of the building. Even-numbered rooms on the mountain side face a busy street with constant traffic noise and frequent sirens from emergency vehicles. This can be quite disruptive, especially at night. My original room had a non-working shower, but the staff responded quickly and moved me to a new room. I was offered a suite upgrade for $60/night, but not all suites are created equal—room 1220, for example, is noticeably smaller than others like 1118, with just a small sitting area. Ice machines are located on even-numbered floors, but the one on the 12th floor was out of order. Most frustrating was the false fire alarm, which went off daily between 4 and 5 am during my stay. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and accommodating, allowing early check-in and a 1 pm late checkout for Gold and Diamond members. Great location—easy walk to the beach and downtown. Check out the Tiki Bar and Grill for happy hour.
