Great experience
Julio, Joel, and Ariel were amazing. Great experience as always. Julio is very helpful with the beach chairs in the morning and a great person overall. Avriel is also very helpful and does a great job with bingo. Bingo is always fun to end my day at the beach.

Very Shady Point Vacation Club in a beautiful, well kept resort with outstanding staff.
We had a wonderful time on our vacation Nov 2024. Rooms were clean and updated. I was an owner many years ago and now purchased their points system, Silver, when I was there in November 2024. Dorothy was our salesperson and very pleasant. You must call 8 months before you want to reserve a week, which I did on the day it was open to book. SURPRISE, NO AVAILABILITY. I cant even vacation there with 8 months notice using my Silver Membership. Their points system seems more like a bait and switch scam than true resort accommodations. Very disappointed in DIVI. At one time they were THE standard in vacation experience. EXTREMELY nice resort but beware of their timeshare/points system which it seems you can never use when YOU want to vacation.

A Different Set of Interests
Many people who review this resort are concerned with palapas and beach chairs. I am not too concerned with palapas, but I do like beach chairs when I need one. That is why I like going in May. It is not extremely busy, so we can always find a chair. They have recently made new pools and a pizza place with outdoor seating at the villas. It is an inviting area now and we found that we spent more time enjoying that area this year than ever before. We decided to do some less popular resort activities this time. We made tye die t-shirts, took the kids to decorate donuts, and went on a surprisingly revealing nature walk a short walk behind the resort. On this walk, we saw a lot of turtles in the water that were not too afraid of humans. We saw fowl with their young, which had beautiful markings on the wings. We went up on a largely forgotten bird observation tower and had an awesome view of the wildlife. Also with the activities we did some of the more popular ones: an owner’s reception where we receive free drinks and snacks and get tickets for drawings that they have, all completely free. A daily warer aerobics class that was a challenging, yet fun, workout. There is a Butterfly Farm right across the street from the resort. For years I thought it was a tourist trap. Then one year we went to check it out and were amazed by the serenity, the peace, emanating from this flower filled sanctuary with scores of various colored butterflies and moths. This year I went there at least 3 times, because the consumer pays one price, which was $19 with the 10% Divi discount, and can go in for the rest of the time staying in Aruba for free. We took a 3 year old in for free and he was excited about the butterflies. Another nice feature about the Divi is a free daily paper available at the front desk and towel hut. It is relaxing to go over to the Butterfly Farm, read the paper, listen to the audio Bible, pray and enjoy the Lord’s work. With the first light of day, taking a walk on the less busy beach right at the doorstep of our buildings can not be beat. We have been going every couple of year for about 15 years now. The cleanliness of the pools and impeccable plant care has remained constant. Now they also pick up seaweed that has washed ashore. They keep the pools beautiful at all times. It is a sight that I have never grown tired of. We also cook and prepare our own foods most of the time that we are there. For this I am thankful that the discount for the Ling and Sons Grocery Store for Divi guests has been increased from 3% to 5% now. We spent about $350 in groceries for the week and appreciated the $20 or more that came off of our bill. The update to the penthouse unit that we stayed in is not impressive. However, the new gray exterior color is growing on me. I think I like it. The glass balconies are really nice. But they took all of the pictures and artwork off of the walls and did not replace them. In previous years, with the colored glass and cheerful pictures, the units felt much more festive. I hope that they will put artwork back on the walls. Our unit needed some attention and the staff handled it with excellence. They have always had convection ovens before, so I got some “oven only” items like frozen pizza. However, I discovered that the new unit is a microwave only. In addition, maintenance advised that it was incompatible with the over head light that we use to illuminate the range. He also said that they did not have convection ovens anymore, but that tje microwave could be replaced with one that would at least have a range light that would always stay on. I was extrmely happy the next morning when maintenance did install a convection oven with a working range light. The floors and one sink weren’t too clean and one of the sliding glass doora and curtain didn’t slide open and closed except with great effort. Two bathroom sinks had very slow drains. Housekeeping came in and did a complete cleaning and did a terrific job. The door and curtain were also fixed. The drains remained slow, and we felt bad about already contacting them on so many issues, so we took out the sink stoppers and that fixed it. The communication between the different departments and information given to guests needs improvement. When we checked in, we were told that they didn’t have vendor discounts amymore by the front desk. The front desk, depending on who was working, gave conflicting accounts about how to sign up for activities and what to do. Sometimes the activities staff had to be looked for, or there were not adequate materials or prepared personnel to complete the activities that we signed up for. The information about the gym was unclear. Some said it was open, others said no. Then they announced that it is closed, but we could go to the Tamarijn gym. We went there, we were told by the concierge that we needed to be guests of the Tamarijn to use it. I went up to their gym and guests from all of the different Divi sites were signed in on the sheet and there were no problems. The gym at the Tamarijn is beautiful. It is nothing but windows and mirrors, so no matter what machine you are on at the time, you are looking at the beach and crystal blue water! At Pure Beach, some workers used our gold member discount in conjunction with the voucher that we had received and also accepted the balance of the bill in cash. On the final day the waitress for that shift would not use the discount card in conjunction with the voucher and would not take cash for the 30 cents balance. I refused to have my card swiped for that and approached the front desk about it. They did not know quite what to do at the time. There were several of these situations throughout the week where the hand did not know what the foot was doing or supposed to do. It was frustrating, but not disheartening. I was impressed by the taste of the food at Pure Beach and the pricing. The food always had good flavor and the prices are good. I was happy to see that they have brought back the daily specials which they had done away with for awhile. They have a burger day, a dog day, a 20% off salads day and some other things. We ate there at least 3 times and it is fun to eat there. You are outside right on the beach. A few times we had to find a waiter or waitress. Do you see a trend? In order to get some of the activities or some of the food, we needed to find somebody! But the resort isn’t that big and the service is always rendered well and with friendliness. We did a timeshare update presentation this year and it was a good experience. Our unit in the tower is in the midst of a complete renovation and we wanted to find out more about it. The update was informative. Of course they would live for us to buy more, but we appreciated their respect of our decision to not and we also learned some things that we wanted to know in the course of the update. I also appreciate the $150 in vouchers from them for being a part of the update. We got a nice meal at Texas De Brazil and 3 meals at Pure Beach. My hope for the readers is that this review hit on some topics that others have not covered and hopefully it is things that other travelers may find beneficial.

Annual Fun in the Aruba Sun
Gorgeous beaches! Stunning sunsets. The quiet pool is perfect for reading. The resort is a short cab ride from downtown. Reasonable prices for meals. Water aerobics classes with Dwayne are fun and enjoyable for every age group! Annual vacation at Divi doesn’t disappoint!
