Exhausting - in lots of ways!!
I’m currently staying at the Caribbean Beach, in the Aruba section of the resort. The complex itself is good and has lots of things going on. The room itself leaves a lot to be desired. To be fair I didn’t expect much to start with but 2 nights in and I am already looking forward to leaving. The room is small and is more like a motel than a hotel. The air con unit is old and noisy but it keeps the room cool. The main problem is that it only has one setting and that is full tilt. So when it is time to sleep naturally I attempted to turn the setting down or even the whole unit off. This is where the problems began, the thermostat was turned off and yet the air con continued merrily on. Only the youngest member of the family has managed to sleep. Exhausted I called the first desk at 3 am and they sent an engineer who had a peek around and said there was nothing he could do. The next day I visited a front desk and told them of the situation and they arranged for an engineer to visit the room at 8pm - nobody showed. The air con continued on and on though. The room we are staying in is adjoined with family members and their air con turns down to a quiet lull yet there seems nothing can be done for our rogue air con unit. At this point I just need some sleep but it seems impossible and the resort doesn’t care how magical my stay is. It’s more than fair to say avoid this one, if things don’t go to plan you’re on your own.
Great hotel, friendly and efficient staff, with early entry in to the parks by bus or the new Skyline.
Our second stay at this hotel and it was just as good the second time around. We stayed in Aruba. We loved the new Skyline which goes from the hotel to Epcot or Hollywood studios. Very quick and easy. Last time we had a meal deal which we loved but that wasn’t an option this year. Come on Disney bring back the meal plan. We made use of the early park entry to get on the most popular rides before the queues grew too big. We also bought the Genie plus to get fast passes on many of the rides. It was expensive but it meant we could do all the main rides with short queues. Probably will eat outside the park until the meal plan returns.
Stayed here as a family of 4 for 2 weeks in July 2022. Loved every minute. We checked in early in the day and were able to request a room in building 51 in Aruba - close to the bridge to walk to the main pool and eateries, and roughly half way between the main Skyliner station and the one at Riviera. This location was fantastic. The room was great - I've certainly stayed in bigger rooms but when here our intention was to either be at the pool or at a theme park, the room was just a base to sleep and freshen up really. The "5th sleeper" pull down bed was really cute, and I'd say could easily sleep a child aged 10. Room was cleaned enough times for our liking, personally I don't care if my bed gets made every day or if I have to use a towel for a couple of days! I'm there to have fun at Disney World not look for negatives, so all the people that are slamming the hotel for not giving them a new towel and cleaning up after them every day maybe need to just chill out. Yes the resort is quite big. Yes your room could be a reasonable walk from the main pool/amenities. So what - most Disney resorts are huge!! We visited Animal Kingdom Lodge, Coronado Spring, Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside, Saratoga Spring, Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk and Art of Animiation. In almost all of those resorts you have the same potential to be located quite remote from the key amenities. The resorts are big, get over it!! The Skyliner is superb. Amazingly quick access to Hollywood Studios, and pretty quick to Epcot too (certainly quicker than driving/parking/walking to the main entrance). We never had to queue much at all for Skyliner, and that was both being up for early entry and returning at the end of the night following the park close shows. Buses were reliable too - obviously for HWS and Epcot there's only a bus when Skyliner is shut due to storms. But for Disney Spring, AK and MK they were roughly every 20 minutes with screens to indicate when the next was due. I overheard some people moaning at a bus stop about having to wait for a bus - but it's not an on demand service!!! Get a taxi/uber if you're in that big a rush. We did have a car with us, but between Skyliner being so quick and the farce at Magic Kingdom of walking to get boat/monorail, we didn't really need the car. One bit of advice - if there's storms forecast, best to take your car to HWS or Epcot as the Skyliner will shut when there's lightning. The food options at Caribbean Beach aren't particularly great. Standard stuff in the quick service but some nicer options at the pool bar and Sebastians. Refillable mug was good value for us, often found ourselves back at the pool most afternoons to get away from the busy parks - and the refill station is right beside the pool. The main pool is really nice, two slides and zero-entry. Very warm. Very busy!! Smaller pools can be found in each section, these are much quieter. All in all we would stay here again in a heartbeat. As I said above we visited a lot of other resorts, ranging from the value to deluxe, and whilst some had their attractions, we would opt for Caribbean Beach again. Hope this helps your choice, if you look for negatives and try to find fault in things you almost always will. If you want a lovely resort with lots of charm & character, a good pool and wonderful amenities and transportation options, then I would highly recommend Caribbean Beach!
🚨🚨 Don't stay here!
Extremely disappointed with our experience... First of all be aware that there is no daily cleaning service. We where shocked that our room was the exact same way we left it this morning. 2. air conditioning is super old and loud. 3. Breakfast quality was terrible. Microwaved scrambled eggs 4. Rooms have rugged flores full of dust To be honest I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Specially because the price is super high.
Good because of the skyliner
The positive of this hotel is the access to the skyliner. The negatives are MANY. The rooms are unbelievably small. The hotel rooms are not well kept. This really is a value resort with better access. I would not choose this resort again. The photos make the resort look much better than it is.
