We always stay on property but now we have to pay a parking fee. Less and Less perks for staying on property. We will be staying off property with future stays. Sports needs updated for sure but the room was clean.
My family and I booked three nights at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Report in March of this year. We stayed there from March 18th to the 20th, so RIGHT before Disney shut down due to Covid-19. (We just got really lucky in that regard….) Overall, we had a really nice short visit during our stay. The best thing about Caribbean Beach Resort is Location, Location, Location. With the newly installed Skyliner going to Hollywood Studios and Epcot, it is a convenient place to stay. During our short trip we visited Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I can’t stress enough how nice it is to take a walk from your room over to the Skyliner station and then get whisked quickly over to Hollywood Studios; all while looking down at the all the cars driving in. However, if you are someone who wants to get there really early and wait an hour+ for the park to open, then you might want to drive. The Skyliner will get you there before the park opens, but not SUPER early. I think we were there about a half-hour before hand. But the Skyliner did open up a bit earlier than advertised. When we got to the station people were lined up for the station gate to ope but it was a nice wait, especially since there was a coffee bar right there to get a hot cup before boarding! The ride to Epcot was equally as nice, though about double the distance. While at Epcot, we stayed for the fireworks so being able to ride the Skyliner back afterwards was again a huge plus. The Epcot station is in the back of the park using the back exit, so it was quite convenient leaving from the World Showcase. At the end of the night we probably waited 20 minutes or so in line to board which wasn’t bad at all. So that is all about the location, which again is primo! To get to the Magic Kingdom, we did end up taking the bus, which is fine. It’s not a terribly long ride, but not short either. But as for our room at Caribbean Resort: it’s Disney basic, a bit dated, but you can tell they have tried to update them as best as possible. The bathroom is tiny! But I did appreciate the sliding ‘barn style’ door between the sleeping area and the bathroom sinks. That helped to open up the room. If you are looking at this review, you already know how much everything costs…. When factoring in fees and taxes, our rate was right around $300 a night. Which is normally crazy expensive for a normal hotel room, but honestly mid-rate for Disney. Our room did include the “toddler bed” option. I had booked over a year out, but even then the resort was largely full, so we ended up paying a bit more for the toddler bed room as the regular standard rooms were sold out by then. But glad we did! While I didn’t expect it, my 9-year old daughter was able to sleep comfortably on that bed the whole time. Granted she’s a bit short for her age, but it worked out really well in the end. Certainly worth the extra we paid so my wife and I, and my son could all have our own bed! The resort grounds are very nice. It’s a great place to run if that’s your thing, and the pool area was great. It was certainly crowded, but never felt overly packed. And the cast members had different games and activities going on the afternoon we spent there (by 3 we were just done with Hollywood Studios for the day as it was quite crowded and hot). The one thing that is very important to note with Caribbean resort is that your room location really matters! Our room was RIGHT next to the lobby and main pool which was wonderful, and a 10-15 minute walk to either sky station, so perfect! But the grounds are huge! If you are far from the lobby I can see how that could be a bummer. Especially as I heard the pirate themed rooms are located pretty far away. In summary: Location, Location, Location. You pay for what you get, but if you get a room close to the lobby and don’t mind a nice walk to the Skyliner stations, for the price you can’t go wrong. (4 out of 5 stars, the one negative being the somewhat dated room interiors).
Great tropical vibe and great location on the Skyliner
As this is a Disney resort the customer service provided by the staff is top notch. We didn't have any issues on our stay but if we did I knew we would be in good hands. The resort itself is huge, in fact there are two Skyliner stops in this resort. But it is also fairly walk-able in the event that your group does not all end up in the same area. The tropical theme is great with its beaches and pools, and is worthy of the Disney brand. There is nothing wrong with the rooms but they are also nothing special. The Skyliner provides easy access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. There are a number of bus stops throughout the resort that provide access to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. There are a number of dining options in the resort but they are all just average, again not bad, but nothing special either. You are staying here for the location and Disney experience which makes it the perfect place for a family on a mid-range budget.
Spread Out Resort, but Lots of Fun
During our last Disney trip, we stayed here. Its among the cheaper Disney resorts, but it was a great place for us. There were five of us, and the room did the job - the room wasn't huge, but we basically just slept there. Beds were very soft - maybe too soft for me, but after all the walking, I was exhausted. If you are staying at the resort, it can be a vacation onto itself - the kids loved the pool - two water slides, some cool Spanish-style, castles, a hot tub, and a splash area for the little guys. They also have marshmallow roasting on Saturday nights, as well as a weekly movie. For food, there is the cafeteria and Sebastian's for table service. And a nice bar right near the pool! The best part of the hotel was the location - its right near a Skyliner station that will take you right into Epcot, and a few other Disney areas, like the Boardwalk. The resort is pretty spread out, so if you don't like walking, this may not be the place for you. But for the price, we think this is a great Disney stay!
We stayed here for 14 nights in September to October 2019. Upon arrival we were greeted by some very lovely porters. When walking into the hotel we were hit by a lovely blast of air con and a delicious scent that filled the building. Our first impression was that the building was absolutely gorgeous and squeaky clean (which remained our impression for the duration of our stay. We went straight to reception and had to wait maybe 15 to 20 minutes to be served but that was ok as there was an influx of people when we arrived. The staff member checking us in was lovely and made us feel really welcome. She explained our magic bands, dining plan, fastpasses etc. and drew on the map where our room was and we were on our way! The walk to our room was very pleasant past the main pool and over the bridge. We were staying in Jamaica. Our room was very pleasant too and had everything we needed. The location of our room was excellent as we were a stones throw away from the Skyliner that opened part way through our trip but also the bus stop was a short walk away. We were also a short walk from a refill station for our refillable mug which was very convenient. Our pool was closed for refurbishment but it was only a short walk to the next pool which was very pleasant and never too busy. It was also lovely to just be able to chill on a hammock on the beach at night which was very romantic and is somewhere we will remember after I proposed to my partner. The food was of good quality but I felt that the options were lacking. Having previously stayed at a value resort I much preferred the food there over Caribbean Beach but that's perhaps just personal preference of course. The gift shop was small but had everything you needed and we took great joy in spending our remaining snack credits on the great choice of snacks such as Goofy candy. Finally, the staff were very friendly throughout the trip from the person who would hold the door open for you to the staff serving your food. I would consider staying here again if there was a good deal but, personally, would opt for a value resort and upgrade the dining plan. They were in the middle of renovating some of the rooms so I would perhaps stay again to see what they were like.
