    Beautiful. Surpassed our expectations!

On our first family trip to Disney World, we stayed at the Beach Club Resort. The beauty and service of this resort (and surrounding properties) was A++. Its central location made trips to/from the parks quick and convenient.

    Hot tub folliculitis

WARNING: I got hot tub folliculitis from the hot tub here in January 2023. Rooms were not well suited for kids. Furnishings were extremely worn out. Location was great for Epcot. Staff were very friendly. Food was convenient to order via app, but the quality of the food was poor.

Shabby dreary rooms at Beach Club

Recently returned from Disney's Beach Club Resort. My family had two adjoining rooms. The rooms were very shabby. The carpeting in both rooms was stained, dirty and felt gross to walk on. The furniture of old and the walls look dated and dreary. One room was missing a sitting chair and the towel rack fell off the wall when we remove a towel. However, the cleaning staff did an excellent job servicing the rooms. Considering this is a tier one hotel and the rooms are very expensive, these rooms are in desperate need of updating. We visit the parks yearly and usually stay at the Yacht or Boardwalk for it's convenience to Epcot. It's a shame Disney has not kept after these special resorts.

A Stranger Entered Room While We Slept

A stranger entered our room in the middle of the night. He used the bathroom and wandered around the room while my wife and children slept. Luckily, I woke up. We stayed there Christmas week. My wife and I with our two young children. This was our big "post pandemic" trip for the holidays and first time visiting the parks for all of us. Part way into our trip I was awoken by someone, in our room, using the bathroom, in the middle of the night, which I assumed was my wife. It was not. It was another guest, a man, wandering around my room. I was beyond shook and jumped out of bed demanding to know who he was and how he got in. This man told me his name and that was all. My wife, son and daughter woke up from my inquiry - my 7 yr old son was in a panic as was my wife and 1yr old daughter. Thinking he was drunk, I quickly ushered him out of out room to avoid any escalation in front of my family if it was going to go that way. Luckily, for everyone, it did not. Once he was out we called for hotel security. After checking on my family again, security finally arrived after what seemed like an eternity. They found the man who seemed to want get back in our room. We were informed that the man has dementia and that he left his room at about 2 am and was just wondering around looking for his room. We discovered that my door had a malfunction with its lock and could be opened in some instances. Unbelievable and scary I thought. After a horrible night and next day with my son, who was now terrified at every sound and could not stop talking about it, we received zero follow up from hotel staff or management. I would assume security has to file a report and notify management. Maybe not as there was no follow up. We did go about our day in the parks, mostly to get our minds, my son's especially, off the traumatic event and salvage what was left of our vacation. No one followed up with us. No call, no email, no text, no "is everyone okay?" "How is your family?" To the Beach Club Resort it never happened. Considering the circumstances it would've put us at ease, somewhat, to know that our safety mattered to them. But clearly it did not. That is absolutely unacceptable. A couple days after we returned home we got a survey about our stay experience, which we filled out stating all I've said here. It was then and only then someone reached out about this incident. This person tried to seem apologetic however also made light of it laughed off the event as simply "strange". Don't do that. You were not there, you didn't experience it. You don't have to keep telling your son that he's safe. I didn't really appreciate that considering the circumstances. This person did offer us three nights for a future stay, which is insulting at this point. We don't know if we are going back, or even when. Considering how bad having a strange man in your room, with your children, could have gone, why would we want to stay there again. safety is not a priority to them. The fact is that my son is having trouble processing this and perhaps my wife and I are too. We felt completely on our own after this event. An unsympathetic apology and some nights of a future stay insults me. It pains me to admit it, but Disney seems to care less about guests and service.
