Great weekend getaway!
Awesome place to stay. Kevin at Cabana's is a great waiter and always makes us feel welcome! The whole staff is friendly and very attentive to your needs. The beach staff who set up your umbrella and chairs were super nice too! Everyone did a great job - even during this Corona Virus time. Guest safety was paramount to them!
This was our first time at the resort and visiting the Fort Myers Beach area. We traveled at the beginning of the state of Florida opening back up from COVID19. The resort was not crowded and we actually enjoyed it not being “so crazy. “ We traveled to the resort through our timeshare. We stayed on the 10 floor and had an amazing view of the water and beach. The staff was amazingly nice and helpful. We had a problem with our refrigerator and maintenance came within fifteen minutes. Due to COVID19, there was no housekeeping but we easily changed out our towels during the week. The room was very nice, except the pool out couch. It was very uncomfortable and probably should be replaced in all the units. Our suite had a living room/kitchen, one bathroom, and a bedroom, all with doors. The balcony was huge with two sliding doors and a lounger and table/4 chairs. Standard amenities: toiletries, hair dryer, coffee-maker. The pool was on the small side, but kept very clean. Beach area was very nice with free loungers/umbrella. It's about a 10" walk south of Times Square/the pier and it's on the more crowded/wild/drunker side of the pier. Checkout was at 11, which worked out great for us. We really enjoyed our time there and will be back. Cabanas is a bar/restaurant on site. Food was reasonably priced, but drinks were a bit expensive. Happy hour drink specials from 3-6 were appreciated-2 drafts and 3 can beer. Great breakfast place one block away. Heavenly Biscuit has the best egg sandwiches and cinnamon rolls.
Clean room with a beautiful view. Most of the amenities were not available due to the state shut down but I was still charged $18 a day/Resort fee! Food was good, the drinks were weak and expensive. otherwise a nice place to stay.
It went from ok to very bad during our February Vacation
Based on the good reviews we took a chance on going to Fort Meyers Beach. We had our son and his friend with us - both 17 yrs. From the beginning we realized it wasn't what we expected. My list of pros & cons is below. The main issue was realized upon check out on Feb 27th, 2020 after we left the hotel and went to our next destination on Sanibel. I quickly realized that I'd left my engagement ring, cosmetic jewelry (which was in a box) and face lotion tucked in the back of the top left bathroom vanity drawer. I immediately called the hotel and someone said they'd look into it. I got a call back saying they were speaking with the housekeeping to track it down, but then didn't hear back until Friday. They said that housekeeping hadn't "found" it. This left us very upset. My husband decided to go back to the hotel to fill out an incident report and to get with the hotel's insurance. I truly believed that the ring & other items would be placed with the management and we would get the call, but that didn't happen. It's now been 6 days since they went missing and we'd like to have answers without having to use the police or have to go through insurance filings. I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else at this resort, but writing this might help find out. I would have given this hotel a 1 rating but because the staff was very nice, I gave them extra points. It still didn't add up to the other areas that could be helped. This is the rest of my review regarding the hotel. There are definitely Pros & Cons for anyone who may be traveling with teens: Pros: - Staff was friendly from check in to check out and calls to housekeeping were promptly responded to. - Close to the Times Square with lots of food choices. Walking or biking to places is the only way to get around, so you stay fit. *See traffic issues under Cons below. - Hotel "wrist bands" got us into our rooms and allowed us use of facilities. - Cell phone service/wifi was good. - Large Screened Balcony overlooked the pool with a little bit of ocean view, but that was a great room asset! Cons: - Traffic! I've never seen this kind of bottleneck on vacation. The locals all say it's normal to wait 2 hrs to get out? Just for that I wouldn't stay near Fort Myers Beach this time of year. My husband and I went to Publix (sound on Estaro about 1.5 miles). It took us almost 2 hrs to get back! This needs to change. - All items were ala carte... chairs were $15/day per person; umbrellas were additional for 2 people. - Bar restaurant food wasn't that great (fried foods were better than the grilled); drinks were good but quite expensive - except at happy hours. - Pool chairs were always filled - very tight quarters; the 1 pool was quite small for the hotel and was filled body to body most of the time except for after dark and very early am; same with the 2 small hot tubs; these hot tubs were right out in the middle of the pool area, not isolated in a corner area like most hotels. - Happy hour crowd - we like a couple drinks during vacation, but the atmosphere at this hotel was a "spring break like crowd of over 55's". Happy hours are promoted at most hotels from 2-6 weekdays so many take advantage of hopping around. Not that the people weren't nice, all were very friendly, but most were very tipsy by 5pm. Our boys found this humorous, but it got old quickly for us since that wasn't our main reason for being on vacation. - The weather wasn't cooperating. The strong winds caused issues with getting out on any craft or boat or flotation device, so we had to find other ways to keep our teens busy. Since the hotel doesn't offer activities we had a hard time finding things to keep our teens occupied. We played some volleyball, but there wasn't anyone there to organize games so that became boring quickly. At other "resorts" we've been to we were offered other activities. - Accommodations: We booked the king suite since we'd stayed at others and they met our needs. This time it wasn't the case: 1) The pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable for even our hardy sleepers. One of them has a sports back injury and found it very hard to sleep on. We called to see about a room change but all the rooms were full, so we asked for an extra mattress to go under the other and thankfully that was brought up. It helped a bit per the boys. 2) The bathroom opened to the living room AND to the king bedroom with only an awkward pocket door! We could hear every small movement, and Since there was NO FAN in the bathroom everything was broadcast to us. The bathroom was not broken out into sink area and private bath/toilet as most hotels do now. There was no door on the shower! Even if we wanted to have someone go in and use the facility while someone was in the shower that was too exposed. Since this small suite/room sleeps 4, there should be more emphasis on privacy where ever possible! 3) Hooks? This is one thing that I can't understand or impress a value upon - Why can't hotels use the widely available wall space (especially in this bathroom) for towel or clothes hooks? Everyone should be able to hang up a towel or bathing suit and there was on 1 small towel bar (over the toilet paper roll?) and one small hook behind the door. 4) Room size - much smaller than other king suites we've stayed in. We felt cramped. The kitchenette was tiny compared to similarly prices hotels in the area. Hotel General/ Facilities: 1) Work out room is very tiny and the window view is terrible! I'm not sure what else to say... it's not up to any resort or regular hotel workout area I've ever stayed at. 2) The hallways to the rooms are cement(or stucko?) and painted dark gray! coming out of the elevator to our room, we thought we'd taken a wrong turn and ended up in the parking garage! but that's how the 2nd & 3rd floor look! Not very inviting. I didn't get up to the other floors, but I'm thinking they're all the same. I don't usually write a long review unless I want to give other potential guests a heads up on what to expect, so they don't have the same experience we did. Hope this helps!
Business trip with a view
Room was clean. Furniture in the room was well used and could use an upgrade. Balcony is huge with a 4 chairs and a table and 2 sun loungers and a nice view of the gulf. Bed was comfortable with lots of pillow options. Air conditioning quit the last night of my stay and my wristband room key quit working before I checked out on my last day. Elevators were really slow. Meeting room was on the 3rd floor and had windows with a view which was appreciated. I had good meals and good service at both restaurants and had drink service by the pool. The beach is amazing. The sand is like icing sugar. At low tide you could walk for hours finding beautiful shells. Good location to walk to many restaurants and bars. This resort wasn't what I expected for the price. I would not return here for a personal holiday. But that's just my opinion. This place was sold out my entire stay and had many timeshare guests that obviously love the place.
