Just a quick shout out to Ray (concierge/bellman) for all that he did to make us and others attending our seminar feel welcome. Very helpful, accommodating and knowledgeable about the surrounding area Great start to a good visit at the hotel.
We stayed at the Cowne Plaza at the beginning of the corona virus. There was very few visitors but the staff was doing an amazing job cleaning and making us feel really welcome. To our surprise we were given a free upgrade to the 7th floor.
We had another fantastic business meeting at Crowne Plaza! Especially enjoyed the 7th Floor breakfast with Wanda. She always makes us feel so welcome. Breakfast usually includes plenty of pastries, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, various meats (sausage patties or links, bacon) and eggs. Bottled juices and always fresh coffee!! The evening social hours are great as well. Wine and beer served with light hour devours, fruit and sweets. Love the cookies!
Crowne Plaza, Could Be Better
The Crowne Plaza Austin could be a lot better. First of all, the lobby decor is something right out of the show "Narcos" when it was set in the late-70's, early 80's in Columbia. The actual room, while not bad, just did not seem to convey "quality." The level is about like an older Best Western or perhaps a room at Circus, Circus in Vegas. Very basic. The good: At a crossroads and you can get around pretty well from the location. The bad: The air conditioner/heater unit that is in the wall had a half inch gap and you could see light through it. When I was there, it was a bit cold, so it made the unit cycle a lot more to keep the temperature stable. Again, the Crowne Plaza wasn't a"bad' hotel, just not where it should be. Just seemed tired and a bit wore. If you face the freeway, there is some noise, but overall, the area was pretty quiet considering the location.
The hotel was very nice, meeting rooms were accommodating and the food was good. Unfortunately the beds were a little on the worn side. The best part was the bellman, Roy. I asked him for directions and he’s was right on. He pointed it out on a map. He even advised alternate routes during heavy traffic times. Very FRIENDLY and POLITE!!!!
