Great Cultural District Location
This was my third stay at the dahntahn Courtyard. We were attending a concert at Heinz Hall (if you can don't pass up a concert by the PSO) the location within walking distance. Our other activities included the Hop On Hop Off bus, the stop half a block away, and baseball at PNC Park. If you are a walker you can walk to the baseball across the Clemente bridge or to the Gateway T station and take the subway to the North Shore station which puts you a block away. My suite in calming blue/gray was spacious. High ceilings, tasteful modern furniture, the living room contained a bar counter with sink, microwave, and fridge, coffee maker on top. Across from the large TV screen was a sofa bed and chair with ottoman. The only drawback was the muffled noise of voices rising up from the courtyard on the 3rd floor (I was on five). A sliding barn door separated the living room from the bathroom and adjoining bedroom. Upon arrival my room was clean and stocked. The bedroom contained a large closet, within a safe, iron, ironing board, sufficient hangers. The dresser large enough for our four night stay. There was an upholstered chair and ottoman. The bed too firm for my taste, but the pillows presented varying degrees of softness. The art throughout was stylized images of Pittsburgh. My traveling companion used the guest laundry on the third floor, two washers, two dyers which took quarters. If driving, in and out valet privileges are available. Our activities downtown we walked or used Lyft. PRT good choice if heading to Oakland. The staff helpful and courteous. A variety of restaurants within walking distance, several across the street. Unfortunately the Sonoma Grill which adjoined the hotel closed some time ago; I would skip the Bistro. Coffee? There is a Starbucks at the Westin.

Amazing location. Nice staff. Needs a little updating.
This hotel has an excellent location. 15 minute walk to PNC park, 10 minute walk to the Strip District. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Bus lines and bike share close by. A Target a short walk away for snacks and drinks for the room (mini fridge in room). The front desk staff was nice and friendly, and we really appreciated that they let us keep our rental bikes in the hotel room. Not every hotel would allow that. The cons: The rooms were a touch dated. USB-A ports and no UCB-C is a good indicator that it hasn't been updated in a few years. Though I appreciated that the internet was fast and free. Shower and bathroom a little dated. Our room faced Penn Ave, and noise from bar-hoppers was pretty bad on Saturday night. It was solved with ear plugs and our white noise app on my iPhone. But not ideal noise level. The AC was mediocre. Perhaps there was an occupancy sensor, because it always felt hot when we returned to the room. There was no digital thermostat or even numbers on the controls. Impossible to know how cold you were trying to make the room. And AC vent blew down directly on my bed, to the point of me having to position a pillow over my face to block it. Breakfast was not free and the croissant I bought my son was so bad he took one bite and threw it out. It came our of a plastic bag, so no surprises there. Eat breakfast somewhere else, or fill your fridge with breakfast from Target. All in all, despite the cons, this was an excellent spot for my father/son trip with my 11-year-old son. We got a good rate on the hotel, so I can't complain. Location, location, location.

Broken mechanics in room/empty shower toiletries bottles/horrible breakfast
Thermostat in room with the knob broken off to turn the fan on/off, so unable to control air in the room for entire stay. No shampoo in shower dispenser. Why would the hotel put me in a broken room? Horrible breakfast! Eggs not made to customer request. I asked for sunny-side up eggs and got over-easy. No silverware. Had to ask for it after food delivered and he said I could get it myself if I ask at the counter. Hash browns from an old, stale frozen box and undercooked. Yuck! Why would a hotel deliver your food without utensils? Front end staff/valet parking staff were cheerful and professional. Will not stay in Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown again. Plenty of other good hotels in the downtown Pittsburgh area.

Do not recommend- disappointing everything
Had to get king size bed with pull-out sofa b/c no queens were available & the pull-out was so bad! There was no bedding for it in the room, despite the reservation saying 3 people. The room smells absolutely awful, the phone & soap dispensers don’t work, due to phone being broken I had to walk down to request bedding for the pull-out twice. The blanket they provided was disgusting. The quick-service food in the bistro took 60+ min to come out. There is mold on the floor in the bathroom. The shower head can’t be moved and does point in a reasonable direction. We got in after 9 pm and a 4 hour drive with children so we didn’t have energy to request a room switch. When we notified them in the morning of these issues, they said sorry and they would fix it but didn’t fix the phone or soap dispenser and the room still smells awful the second night. Housekeeping took the trash but did nothing else. We could have used extra bar soap, for example, since the shower soap dispenser doesn’t work. Everything about this has been incredibly frustrating. I am so annoyed I paid $300 a night for this- they jacked the rates up for the event we are attending.

A Solid Business Stay with Minor Shortcomings
Check-in at this property was seamless, with the front desk staff displaying efficiency and professionalism. Notably, they acknowledged my Bonvoy status—a small but appreciated gesture that underscores the hotel’s commitment to loyalty members. The guest room is spacious and well-equipped, featuring essential amenities such as a mini fridge. However, the lighting is noticeably dim, even at full capacity, which may be a drawback for those who prefer a well-lit environment. Comfort is a strong suit here—the bed and pillows provide adequate support, and the heating and air conditioning functioned without issue. The bathroom, while of standard size, was let down by weak shower pressure, which may be disappointing for guests who value a strong, refreshing rinse. Breakfast is included in the stay, and a small Starbucks outlet on the ground floor offers added convenience. Dining options in the area are plentiful, with excellent restaurants within a half-mile radius, making this an ideal location for business travelers looking to step out for a quick meal. Overall, this hotel delivers on efficiency, comfort, and location, making it a solid choice for business stays. However, improvements in lighting and water pressure would enhance the experience significantly.
