No Marriott Elite benefits
Hotel was adequate overall, but no recognition or benefits whatsoever for Marriott elites. No breakfast benefit, just an overpriced buffet no better than any low-end hotel except that they had omelettes; otherwise very basic. No bottled water, manager said they were “out” but then sold me a bottle from their market. Very frustrating how inconsistent Marriott is with program benefits, cheapens value of loyalty.
Adequate If You Want to Be By the Airport or Mall of America
This Courtyard is adequate if you want to be by the airport or Mall of America. Otherwise, stay elsewhere. The area doesn’t feel very nice, and there is nothing to walk to nearby. Our room was small, with noise from the highway, but the bed was very comfortable. I couldn’t believe they don’t have CNN! It has been decades since I stayed in a hotel without it. Check-in and check-out went smoothly.
Once again an awesome stay...
We have used Courtyard by Marriott Bloomington by Mall of America numerous times, even during COVID times. They are just awesome, from general manager Darryn Maloney, who once checked us in, drove us to the airport all in one trip. Now back to somewhat normal, Jake's is great to eat/drink before you fly out. Even the shuttle drivers are great people. We got in late last night, quick check in and very good burgers and beers before a sleep and drive home...If you are looking for a great stay, park, and fly....Try Courtyard by Marriott by Mall of America....10 stars in my book....
Arrive Early If You Can
Sometimes circumstances cause you to arrive at a hotel late for check in. That was the case for my recent stay at this hotel. I arrived shortly after midnight...tired and ready to get some sleep. First issue was lack of parking. The hotel was nowhere near full, yet the parking lot had no open spaces and I had to park several blocks away. If you are traveling alone and/or have ambulatory issues this would be really bad. After the walk from my parking spot I was let into the lobby by the night desk clerk. This man and his snarky, condescending banter were not what I was up for at the time (12:20 am)...I really just want to get to my room to sleep. He persisted with his attitude not picking up on any of my body language or lack of verbal response. Eventually I received my room key. The room was really quite nice. This is an older property, but my room was clean, well-equipped, quiet, and comfortable. The bed and shower were both very good. The location for this hotel is very convenient for the Mall of America, the airport, numerous dining options, and the light rail line. Downton St. Paul and Minneapolis are both just a short drive as well. This property has many pluses, location and sleep quality to name a couple. Just be sure to arrive early enough to get a parking spot and avoid the night desk clerk.
Could use a refresh.
This hotel is showing its age. The wall A/C unit didn't consistently work. The shower shampoo/conditioner caddy fell off the shower wall in the middle of the night, which made an interesting sound. Then the room door handle fell off which made it fun trying to exit the room until we managed to re-attach it. We had to park in the adjacent hotel parking lot because there isn't enough parking in the Marriot's lot. Coffee is available in the lobby, but only if you want to pay $4.00 a cup. All in all, disappointing.
