Go for them, go for yourself
This resort always feels like home and it is easy to interact with the staff. They are all welcoming and appreciative of everyone. The resort itself offers plenty of water sports and excellent dining options even with the current low capacity. I have not tried all the offered amenities, and I probably won't, but there is something for everyone. Take the trip, you won't be disappointed.
8th Visit to CSA 12.29 thru 01.05....Still LOVE it here
Hi ALL, 8th visit to CSA. 7 yrs in a row (since '14) with 2003 being our first visit before the high rise section built. Honestly I think the food this visit was the BEST for me overall. Not that the food before was bad just this time was especially good. Best steaks (Feathers) I've had yet. Wife got her CAYMUS. Be forewarned, pretty much all the meals are ala carte. Some stations (Pasta) set-up. I loved the Cabana Jerk burger at the Beachside grill. Fish tacos good as always. You can still get Nacho chips and the fixings at the Grill. Jsut ask. Soft Ice Cream gone from counter but behind the counter at Sea Grapes. I didn't get any this yr but saw ppl with soft Ice Cream. Returnees dinner was up in Lemon Grass and not the big to do like other years. In room BAR/Refrig service was poor. Had to ask. Room service in the AM was good. Crowd was light when we arrived on 12.29 and got even lighter on 01.01. We don't usually try to get a Palapa but toward the end of our stay (after New Years day) there were Palapas open all over. Maybe 2-3 weddings. Weather was good our week. Maybe one rain shower for 30 min? Water seemed a little cooler then I remember from our '19 visit. Vendor activity was about same. Elvis & Bob etc... but even some of the vendors from years past (ring ring Jamaica) were missing. I am a pale redhead so I don't really tan (i look like I just got there everyday) but I don't think it was any different then other years. We were NOT hassled incessantly. We take a LONG walk down the beach (40 min+ away from Beaches) every morning. Saw some of the staff who know us: Damian, Linton (Goat testicles) Marton, RIch etc... nice to know they are working and earning. Overall Staff was great. You get what you give. I always greet staff and ask them how they are b4 asking for a Drink etc... I have to give a shout out to TASH ...I promised! Covid: daily temp chks at PALMS. Hand Sanitizer ALL OVER THE Place. I would say overall the staff was following protocols. COVID protocols at MBJ Airport kind of shock you how LAX US Airports are. No chairs at the Martini bar but table & chairs that are nearby still there. We didn't really check in on the Piano bar We booked private transfer with CLIVES and that was nice. I would recommend them. Great service and VERY Responsive. We use Club Mobay both ends- no issues. Met Mr.Issa when we were departing so it was nice to meet and chat with him a bit. COVID PCR Test: We live outside PHILLY and went to Co. called PASSPORT Health on 12.21 for our PCR test and got our results back 12.23. It was not free obviously but it was quick and this Co. deals with health travel i.e. Vaccines for travel to Africa etc... We printed MULTIPLE copies of our PCR tests. Make sure your names & DOB's line up with everything. MUST be a CLIA lab. Also printed out multiple copies of our Jamaican Travel Autho Form. Had NO issues on that front. Overall a great trip in the middle of crazy times.
Swept Away NYE!
This is our first trip to CSA. Second time staying in Negril. After checking in we were immediately taken to our room. The first thing that we notice was how green and tropical the grounds were. The gardens were thick, lush and breathtaking! It gave you the feeling of being in a dense, tropical, exotic jungle. This theme continues throughout the entire resort. Every aspect of this resort was super clean. We always felt safe and had zero worries during our stay. We were assigned room 2235. The was a premier beach front room. Our room was on the second floor and overlooked the beach and ocean. The view was spectacular! The room was beautiful, simple, comfortable, and clean. The best part was the large outdoor terrace. This room wasn’t the most modern room that we ever stayed in. The room was outdated, but by no means rundown. The Decor was very simple, everything was white with dark brown wooden accents. The beach is this resorts best feature! Pure white sand and very clean. What we really loved about it is the natural shade that all of lush trees provided. During our stay the resort was only at 22% capacity because of the pandemic. we never had an issue finding a spot on the beach. The staff at this place was absolutely amazing! The Jamaicans are nice, friendly, and hospitable people. Ya Mon! They aim to please here. We were very impressed with all of them. We had a wonderful, fun filled stay at CSA! I can see why they have so many repeat guests. We will be returning for sure.
This place was excellent. Had my reservations about travel during pandemic but once we got to the resort, that all melted away. Arrived during a rain storm, was escorted to room with an umbrella. Room was very nice and clean. Requested a certain room and got it. Resort was about 30% full so not sure if that happens every time. Limited selection of restaurants open during the slow time but never had to wait and the food was delicious at every place. Jerk chicken at the cabana grill for lunch was perfect, sushi at SeaGrapes. The buffet was limited but was expected. Lemongrass was my favorite, Feathers was right up there. Shout out to Natalie at The Palms, she was great and hopefully we entertained her with out dancing during the steel drums. Entertainment staff, what can I say. Mr Kool, Matthew and Richard...they were amazing. Took the tour the first day with Richard, helped get the layout as we arrived after dark the night before. Played bags with Mr Kool and Matthew, they remembered everyone's name and took care of it. Silent Disco was great watching them dance. If you read this, please give a coconut to Mr Kool from the North Dakota couples for me. Water was warm, beach was perfect. Steps from our room (Ocean Veranda room 3113). Make sure to get the key for your patio door as well. You will have cats on your patio, but they are not aggressive and will leave you alone if you want. Did all water sports and the staff there was friendly and helpful. My only complain is 1 staff member that was constantly asking if I wanted to by weed from him. He kept offering and holding it out to us to see and buy. I expected this from the venders on the beach, but not from a staff member. I did not get his name (nor would I put it on here) but that was very off putting. Otherwise, the stay was great, the rest of the staff was friendly, professional and helpful. Have recommended to everyone that has asked.
Another amazing Xmas and NYE!
We visited CSA for the 8th time 12/23- 1/2 We were the only 2 on our free shuttle from the airport and check-in was easy, however, we still did not get our room requests again (we never have) but when I asked, my 1st choice was open so we did get it! We always stay in an atrium because we love the shutters and feeling of being outside- we call them our little bungalows. The only time noise bothered us was in the morning when you could hear the tractor raking the beach and the water sports guys and security guards talking/arguing at full volume.(We get the tractor but the staff complaint is every year) The resort was only around 15% capacity when we arrived (more like 35-40 % around NYE) and we loved how there were very few guests -no waiting for a table and no getting up early for a beach chair! (They have new beach chairs this year) Of course, there were some things we did miss: no Bamboo bar, no Patios for lunch or breakfast (really missed the breakfast), and no turn down service. The resort did a great job with covid protocols- hand sanitizer everywhere, all staff wore masks, and guests had to wear masks at the gift shop, spa (you could take it off when you were on your stomach during massage), lobby, and upon entering restaurants. Some guests wore masks walking around and some do not. Going the same time each year we know some of the repeat guests, many who did not take the trip this year, but there were a few who did. We loved still having Santa arrive on the beach and liked having the Christmas Eve cocktail party on the beach. We thought this was the best NYE at the resort- seated dinners at Palms/Lemongrass with live music during (although we had the 8 seating and the music ended ½ way through so a suggestion to keep it going the whole time). The multi course dinner was excellent and we liked this so much more than the buffet (and they do an amazing buffet) After dinner the festivities moved to the beach which we LOVED! They opened the Bamboo bar for this occasion and it ended with the annual lighting of the Chinese lanterns. My only suggestion would put in a temporary dance floor because it was hard at times to dance in the sand but they should do NYE every year like this! (We saw Lee on property one day and told him they should always utilize the beach like this- it is why most people are there!) We thought the food was even better this year and our only negative dining experience was at the Palms which we would never normally eat at but had to due to restaurants being closed. We tried breakfast twice there and both times it took forever and was not that good (it was not the same Banana French toast we love at Patois) and the dinner also was disappointing. We always start our day with coffee, pastries, and fruit on our balcony so we just did this for breakfast every day. Besides that, we loved our meals at Patois the most but they were only open a few nights a week due to low capacity. The fish of the day all week was snapper and I think I had it most meals (fish tacos at Seagrapes, fish sandwich at Grill, dinner at Patios and Feathers) and we ate a lot of the jerk chicken (grill) and lamb and beef (both at Patios and Feathers) - you don’t go hungry! Due to the curfew in Westmoreland, all activities had to end at 10- for the most part, this was good since we were tired from a day of fun in the sun and we were still able to enjoy live music in the Palms, the piano bar, and the Silent Disco (twice- so much fun)! Early to bed just meant we were up earlier to enjoy our day! CSA has great watersports and we took advantage of the paddleboards, waterbikes, and sailing We had friends join us for the first time and they loved the same activities as well as the water skiing. We went on the sunset catamaran cruise for the first time in 5 years and had a blast. We also took advantage of the wonderful gym facilities and used it often. They have the best tennis and gym you will find anywhere! My friends loved the free tennis! They also have a great health bar over in this section and I loved how they had a juicer and ginger shots. (The bartender was great and I can’t remember her name but she has worked there a while) We did the couples massage which was great especially, Wanda. Mostly we are beach people and despite damage this fall to the beach (and a storm one of our days that muddied the water for two days) that is where we spend the most time. CSA is where we go to have fun and relax and that is what we did Shout outs to some of the best staff you will ever meet: Chantal (Patios); Natassia (Lemongrass and Seagrapes) Mervin (Martini Bar); the whole waitstaff at Feathers; Trish, Richard, Orlando, and Venmeer (Sunset Bar) Shanna Kay and Keishane (Swim up) Sangarra and Natasha (main bar) and our wonderful housekeeper Nikkara! I love seeing these faces year after year! We met a lot of newbies who got great deals to be their NYE while all of us repeaters did not get the same deal so Abe if you are reading this, please reach out to the loyal repeaters who were there Xmas and NYE and give us a deal for next year!
