We travel to youth archery tournaments each spring and have stayed at this particular hotel the last few years for the tournament in Indiana. This year has been very different with the Corona COVID-19 virus. We were about an hour out of Indianapolis when we got the call that the tournament had been cancelled. (By the way all of the tournaments we attend (8 annually), had been cancelled.) We live about five hours away. So, with bad storms predicted we decided to stay for one night of the three night reservation and then return home. When I made the reservations I made a non-refundable reservation. Given the circumstances of the country and the pandemic I requested a refund from the front desk-they had no authority to refund the remaining two nights ($158.72). Finally after reaching the manager (Jay Singh), he went on to tell me that they are doing a renovation and have already had 30 cancellations that day. He's trying to run a business and can't be expected to refund guests. I brought it to his attention that everyone is experiencing the same right now (including us). I have called Choice Hotel Customer Relations three times, taking almost two hours each time to reach an agent. They on my behalf have called the hotel each time to speak to the manager to have him agree to the refund. Each time he is not available. Jay did call me from his cell phone to let me know that I have to contact Choice. I KNOW! He keeps telling me he will call Choice and get back to me......it does not happen. I feel that given the circumstances it would be appropriate to offer customers a refund as have all the other hotels, airlines and vehicles that we booked with for the season. I would like to highly recommend that you DO NOT spend your money at this hotel. They have no customer service ethics and apparently do not concern themselves with customer loyalty.
Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Indianapolis
Enjoyed my stay here for two nights. Great breakfast selection. The staff was very kind and very helpful. The suite I booked was very clean and the beds were very comfortable! Will definitely be coming back.
The facility has been updated. Simple attractive lobby area. New paint and updated bedding etc. Paint job in the bathroom is sloppy. We have stayed in two different rooms, one in August and one in October. The paint in the bathroom of one was particularly sloppy--several big areas of the tub. The hotel was quiet and the staff are kind and very helpful. Breakfast had more offerings for the reasonable price of the stay.
A Hell room & Roaches
We checked in here this afternoonx we got up to the room, the air conditioner sounded like a freight train, ceiling was dripping over the air conditioner, carpet was soaking wet. Tub was nasty and THEN my husband saw what looked like a baby roach!! We went down and got our money back, clerk was apathetic, guess they knew they had roaches! If you love yourself and family for the love of God do NOT CHECK IN HERE!!!
Disappointed - Need to raise standards
This covers a one night stay (about $90) for a standard King room in mid-July 2019. The good: The desk staff was friendly and allowed me to check-in a few minutes before the normal 3 pm time. Also the bathroom had been at least partly renovated (example: new countertop/sink) The bad: What we did not notice until we were settled in and had taken our shoes off was that the carpet generally felt a bit sticky (on the socks) and had many small but very sticky places (maybe 10 or more). I can't blame the staff IF that just happened the night before -- but I suspect it was there for a while because I discovered that the whole carpet was very dirty. (My hands turned gray while patting the carpet trying to find the worst sticky spots.) Other odd issues: There was no place to put damp towels except over the shower curtain rod - no hooks, no rack. The available towels were simply stacked on the countertop when we arrived. The tub also drained very slowly, allowing water to back up, so washing the residue off your feet took some extra effort. The "inside" part of the shower curtain was also way too long, so a few inches of it were also soaking in the backed-up pool. A portion of these issues were certainly exacerbated by irresponsible guests but the management staff needs to do a better job of ensuring acceptable cleanliness, etc.
