Even though not quite operating at 100% due to the pandemic, it was an amazing place. Best pool deck anywhere, with 4-5 waterfalls off of “stone”. Food from the restaurant was great - the sushi was off the charts, and grouper sandwich incredible. Nice staff, very helpful. Rooms are indeed suites, comfortably sleeps 4. Easy access to the beach, 10 minute walk. Water sports available right from the hotel dock. We’ll definitely be back!
Our COVID escape to paradise
HOTEL: This hotel hands down has the BEST staff I've ever experienced, and I am an Ambassador Elite member with Marriott. Mikel Lopez, the Concierge was phenomenal and helped us find a great fishing trip, which caused us to then do a 2nd day of deep sea fishing. The hotel has a Starbucks and a restaurant onsite. We did not visit the pool, because we are beach people - but plenty of folks were enjoying it! Again, everyone from the coffee shop to folks who were cleaning - all spoke to us and were very kind and welcoming. Also, during this current pandemic, they went above and beyond to ensure there was adequate hand sanitizer and precautions taken to make everyone feel comfortable. ROOMS: This hotel is not fancy, but it is clean and again - EVERYONE is so nice! The rooms have a small bar area with a sink and mini fridge - and a couch/living room area that looks out at the bay, where the bedrooms have balconies which open out to the inter-coastal. As always, Marriott's beds are comfortable, and we had no issues while staying there. To be honest, the rooms probably could stand to be updated; but it by no means impacted our trip. (If you are a frequent Marriott traveler, these are comparable to "Courtyard" rooms much more than the "Marriott" level rooms -- but this hotel is open aired in the breezeways, and the typical "Marriott" room type would not work in the way the hotel is designed. BEACH/LOCATION: This hotel is located across the street from the beach, but there is a golf cart shuttle that will take you and pick you back up, or you can escape the crowds and walk across the street and to the left, for a public beach entrance point (that is mostly vacant!) We enjoyed our time in that little hide out! PIER 60 and FOOD RECS: Also, Jolly Trolley stops right in the hotel parking lot and will take you into town where you can experience Pier 60, shopping and plenty of restaurants. We enjoyed eating next door to the hotel at Backwater Grill, and had a great time with Taylor as our server several evenings. They have a great happy hour that is from 2-630pm, daily.
Pleasurable vacation - 4 night stay
Road trip vacation from the north landed us at this very nice hotel. Running about 1/3 full during our stay but pool/lounge area was open and the highlight of the property. Suite also was very nice, separate area allowed me to get some work done in the mornings before rest of family got up. Views of bay and pool deck very beautiful and serene. Hotel is 5 minute ride from center of Clearwater beach. Self parking at hotel’s lot sooo much more convenient than the valet/ wait / tip nonsense. Definitely would revisit here in future.
Gorgeous property surrounded by great amenities
This hotel had great rooms with plenty of space for a family of five. It was clean and felt like a resort. The pool area was well maintained and the drinks at the tiki bar were fantastic. The restaurant next door, Columbia, has some od the best food I’ve ever had. You can walk to the beach across the street and rent jet skis right next door. The free trolley shuttle runs by every 12 mins and is super handy. Clearwater is a great vacation destination, we can’t wait to return.
Excellent during hard times (Covid19 time)
We visited Clearwater but had to cut our vacation to one day because of Covid19. When we checked in William was at the desk. He was very helpful and friendly. In fact you may read friendly a lot as you continue reading as everyone was super. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were very, very good. The wait staff was friendly for both meals. (dinner - Monica and breakfast - Stephanie) The state ordered the tables to be 6 feet apart and closed the bar. You'd think the staff would be less than smiley but we didn't find that at all. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. We used the (free) trolley to get to the beach. There is no beach just a drop off to jet skis. Hence the trolley. The beach was beautiful and enjoyable and had free lounges. The trolley will drop you anywhere in the area. Beats getting an Uber and dealing with parking if you drive while staying. The pool looked great but we didn't use it (spring beak and the whole virus thing) Cons - We were charged for parking. ($17) and - If you read about the beautiful sunsets make sure you trolley to the beach since you will have no view from the hotel. You have a primo spot for the sunrise however. These two things wouldn't stop me from revisiting though. My stay was great even with the "apocalypse" that was going on.
