Excellent during hard times (Covid19 time)
We visited Clearwater but had to cut our vacation to one day because of Covid19. When we checked in William was at the desk. He was very helpful and friendly. In fact you may read friendly a lot as you continue reading as everyone was super. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were very, very good. The wait staff was friendly for both meals. (dinner - Monica and breakfast - Stephanie) The state ordered the tables to be 6 feet apart and closed the bar. You'd think the staff would be less than smiley but we didn't find that at all. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. We used the (free) trolley to get to the beach. There is no beach just a drop off to jet skis. Hence the trolley. The beach was beautiful and enjoyable and had free lounges. The trolley will drop you anywhere in the area. Beats getting an Uber and dealing with parking if you drive while staying. The pool looked great but we didn't use it (spring beak and the whole virus thing) Cons - We were charged for parking. ($17) and - If you read about the beautiful sunsets make sure you trolley to the beach since you will have no view from the hotel. You have a primo spot for the sunrise however. These two things wouldn't stop me from revisiting though. My stay was great even with the "apocalypse" that was going on.
Business Trip - Top Notch Service!
Stayed at the Marriott on Sand Key for 5 nights for a business trip. The room was amazing with views of both the Inter-coastal waters, as well as the Atlantic. Bed was comfortable, multiple TVs all had Netflix access, mini kitchen was great for bringing back snacks and drinks...really couldn’t have asked for more. The conference space was clean, well appointed and perfect for our large group. The service was impeccable! I’ve literally never had such attentive and friendly service outside of an all-inclusive 5 star resort. This place epitomizes the Marriott standard!! Food was exceptional as well. We had everything from breakfast/lunch buffets, snack stations and plated dinners. Everything was fresh, flavorful and accommodating to various dietary needs. I cannot say enough about this location and would 100% recommend whether you’re staying for work or pleasure.
Wish I could give negative stars
Absolutely horrible customer service at this hotel. Especially William the manager on duty at the time of our check in. Seemed like a really nice hotel from the lobby and bar but when we got to our room...oh my! First of all these rooms have exterior corridors. It’s noisy and the floors are ceramic tile which is super slippery. Unbeknownst to us, we were given a handicapped accessible room which we did not request. There was no door separating the bedroom from the sitting area. The bathroom consisted of a tiny sink with no counter space and no cabinet. There was literally nowhere to put anything. Also, there is one bench with two drawers in it. Those are the ONLY drawers in the entire room. The closet is small with no shelves. If you are staying longer than overnight, good luck figuring out where to put your things. Also, I had to kill a large flying insect in the bathroom as soon as I got there. Another “plus” of outdoor corridors. When my husband expressed our disappointment in our room to William, he said he might be able to give us a new room tomorrow. His attitude immediately aggravated us. There were NO apologies, no admission of a mistake...generally uncaring. Long story short, we checked out in the morning. When the young lady robotically asked, “How was your stay?”, my husband replied, “Terrible” . She just walked away and continued what she was doing. Sigh...so we checked out and went to the Hilton Clearwater which was absolutely wonderful! Save yourself the trouble. Skip it.
Really enjoyed the hotel and its amenities. Would definitely go back. Also convenient location to boardwalk and local restaurants. Rooms were spacious and clean. Great views of water! Unique structure gives you views of water in both sides.
Recently stayed here for 3 nights. The good - The room was clean and updated. The bar area is very pretty and bartender Ricardo was exceptional. The OK - We did not feel totally welcome at check in even though we belong to the Marriott Bonvoy club. There was only 1 robe in the room, no complimentary water, the duvet cover was torn, and there was no soap. We were not told about the free shuttle to the beach or that we could ride the Clearwater Trolley for free. The bad - fire alarm went off at about 4:00 am for an active fire in the pool area. All guests had to leave the premises and were not able to use the elevator. Prior to this, we had noticed several guests with mobility issues and we wondered how they were able to evacuate since throughout the entire ordeal, we never saw a hotel employee. Additionally, given the inconvenience, we expected the management team to have been in the lobby and pool area the next day apologizing to guests, maybe free coffee and muffins??? We booked this hotel based on other reviews. Overall we expected a bit more.
