location is great, rooms and service - not so much
We did a family stay-cation here. Walking right out to the bay was very nice and the hotel grounds are beautiful- green, lush and ducks living their best life. The rooms are old and run down, service is average at best. They have friendly staff, but with covid they were not cleaning/restocking rooms.. and not providing guests with an adequate amount of coffee, water, towels and trash bags. You can request more towels, coffee, etc, but it may take an hour or two. Unless you get a SUPER deal.. I could not stay here.
Awesome place to stay!
It was my first time in San Diego and there is no better place to stay than the 'Cat'. You can't beat the location on the bay and a block from the beach. When we first arrived we were met by Steve D from Philadelphia and we couldn't have asked for better hospitality. He stored our bags and walked us to the pool while we waited for our room to be ready. Steve came and got us when our room was ready and when we got there my jaw dropped. The views were amazing! I recommend staying in the tower, you get views of: ocean, bay, mountains, and downtown. Place has the feel of a resort on the beach in Hawaii except your in downtown Mission Beach. Restaurant is wonderful and the service throughout is impeccable. 10/10: can't wait to go back.
If you have one choice to stay when visiting the San Diego/Pacific Beach area pick the Catamaran Resort. The moment we arrived the resort staff was extremely courteous and professional. Traveling can be stressful and certainly heightened during COVID-19. The lobby was beautiful with a winding koi river and open aired so you feel as if you're still outside. We arrived early from the airport, but thankfully bellman Steven saved us by storing all of our bags until our room was ready. A truly resort feel that you could bring all age groups to and have a great time. The restaurant was phenomenal with bay views to go. Perfect location if looking to go to beach or bay during the day.
Great Location!, dated facilities :(
This place is all about location! great access to the bay with lot's of activities and also a short walk to the great pacific beach. Lot's of options for eating and entertainment and VERY family friendly. On the downside, the resort has very dated facilities. Everything looks old, you feel like your traveling back to the 70's. Although everything was very clean. If you stay on the Tower pacific view, be aware that it also faces the parking lot and streets so you will get some traffic noise, car alarms, etc.
Expensive for what you get
the room needs major renovation and with covid things are close so the high resort fee should of been waived the restaurant was very limited on choices and very expensive. The pool was dirty the room had a very old stove with no pots or pans or silverware there was candy under thensofa bed
