SUBOPTIMAL HOTEL
The Blake Hotel is a beautiful hotel in the city of New Orleans. If you like classic hotels, this would be it. The reception area is cute and from the upper windows you get a nice view of the city. Yet, it needs doable improvements from customer service to needed amnesties in the room. Upon arriving be aware of valet parking with up charge or park at your own discretion on the street. No breakfast is provided but there is an attached restaurant by the front desk. I think they should offer guests a BW Special for at least a nominal added fee with free coffee or juice. We stayed in a 2 bed room and the room was not spacious. The coffee corner needs improvement because coffee maker is just sitting on top of mini fridge, the room needed wash and hand towels, and the pull out mirror needed maintenance because it wasn’t flushed to the wall. I also found a RL XXL sticker on the bathroom light switch. Rooms need QA checks. Little things need improvements to make this hotel a great hotel stay.

Premier?
I cannot believe this is considered to be a Premium Best Western. Light bulbs burned out, dirty HVAC vents, windows were filthy inside and out, no wash cloth, stained towels, frayed furniture and the mattress was worn out and cratered. Curtains would not open and were not hung properly. $38 of add on fees called CC processing fee and property service fee. The restaurant was the only saving grace for this hotel. Fantastic food and service. We will be back to eat, but will stay somewhere else.

Promising, yeet disappointing
All of these hotel chains opening "collection" brands--and often they''re a bit disappointing. Case n point: Blake hotel is right on the English side of Canal Street. It's really convenient to many of the attractions of the French Quarter and St, Charles Street. Overall the hotel has a veneer or retro charm, with compact rooms and classic looking furniture. But in a couple of ways I think It's have preferrred a BW hotel without the signature part. For one thing I like a free breakfast. Here, you must step into the connected Cafe on the Square and spend over $10. I don't know why these hotel chains employ designers who don't seem to know or care what a 21st century traveller needs. This room had a nice queen bed--comfy, good sleep quality--but only one chair. They were nice enough to bring us a second desk chair on request, but really--there ought to be a desk long enough to accommodate 2, with some convenient USB ports. As it was, we had to reach around furniture to plug in our USB extension cords. Also, it took forever for hot water to reach out bathroom. Their worst failing--valet parking. We checked in at 3:00. Our car was still sitting at the curb after 9 pm. Explanation: "we contract with a company that parks for 18 different places around here." Next morning my wife asked at the front desk how long it normally takes to get a car back from the valet parking, since we were on a schedule--and they seemed offended that we should ask. Hope they can iron out some of those issues.

A better than expected stay
I was hesitant to stay here after reading many poor reviews but my room was quiet, clean, and everything was in good working condition, with the exception of the hair dryer (housekeeping replaced quickly). I agree that it could use cosmetic updates and that peeling film on the window is not helping the aesthetic. My only complaint would be the front desk. When I checked in, I was charged a property fee, which was to have been paid to them by the third party booking agent. Even when providing proof of this, I was still charged and offered no support. I don’t have access to their records; how do I know if they were paid or not? Also, what is the fee for? No mention of any amenities or services. When I asked about the parade seating out front, I was directed to scan a QR code. Frustrating. I was reimbursed the fee from the booking agent, as I did pay in advance, no thanks to the hotel. On a positive note, housekeeping was offered daily, the location is excellent for parades but I never did find out about that seating.

Blake Hotel New Orleans NO NO NO
I would not recommend this Best Western property, it was overpriced. Shower leaked, knob to turn it on was hard to operate. Room wasn't cleaned, (towels were not changed when requested). *I know about room cleaning protocols since covid but the room wasn't cleaned when a requests made at front desk. Reception was courteous but the hotel left a lot to be desired. $2175.00 is a lot to pay for 6 nights. (Mardi Gras prices). Restaurant connected to hotel had decent food.
