One year ago I was looking for a place to have my wedding. I found Barcelo Grand Resort and they had good reviews. I took a leap of faith and I'm glad I did. Even after the pandemic hit they assured me that everything would work out. Everything was beautiful; the decorations, the flowers, the ceremony, the photos, the list goes on. The DJ was great-he made the party what it was. I spend so much time planning this with the vendors and the wedding coordinator and it paid off! I would certainty recommend anyone who is planning on getting married at the beach to look at Barcelo Grand Resort or if you simply want a relaxing weekend. They have everything you need to your perfect wedding or vacation. I will definitely be coming back!
Always a great time.
As some of the properties were still closed and the Colonial was just opening up, it was nice surprise to find out we were upgraded to the Palace when we arrived. This was our 8th time at the Barcelo (my wife and 4 friends) and we have always had a great time. We felt very comfortable, as the staff were all wearing protective masks and constantly cleaning the common areas. However, it was disappointing other guests did not follow the rules of wearing a mask in required areas and social distancing. A special shout out is needed for a few of the staff. Jose Pacab at the Colonial swim up bar was always ready with a special drink of the day. Year after year his smile and service has always been outstanding. While staying at the Palace we met Omar Bacab at the La Hacienda buffet. Every breakfast Omar remembered our names, drink orders and took care of all our requests. And, at the end of the day, while visiting the lobby bar, Maria Perez made sure we all ended each day with a special drink in our hand and a smile on our face. We are all looking forward to the next visit.
An amazing getaway
We just returned from a 14 day stay at the Maya Palace and can't say enough about this property. The room was well appointed; comfy bed, spacious, nice and clean with loads of space. The property itself is beautiful and so well maintained. The beach is probably one of the nicest in the Puerto Aventura area with a beautiful stretch of sandy white beach, great swim area and even some decent snorkeling. We saw sting ray, sea turtle, and plenty of fishes. There is an adult only pool tucked away behind the main pool between the buildings. The bar wasn't open but it was a great get away if you're looking for peace & quiet away from the crowd. The resort dolphinarium is home to rehabilitated wild dolphins, many with vision problems that would have made living in the wild impossible. They are well cared for by the trainer Juan "Cali" and are the most loving creatures - if you get a chance to spend time with them you won't regret it. Minchu was my favorite and I could have given him hugs all day long. All the servers in the bars and restaurants are amazing and go out of their way to make you happy. The staff also take great care to maintain Covid-19 protocols and I felt safe with the staff. Other guests however were often very disrespectful of the guidelines - not wearing masks when requested by the resort, or disregarding closed seating areas meant to ensure social distancing which was frustrating to see. Please do your part to protect yourselves and the staff at the resort.
Terrible service and hotel, not recommended!
We live in Cancun and have visited many hotels. This hotel was the worst! Terrible and disgusting service and communication with guests. If you want to ruin your weekend or vacation, you can go to this hotel. We have booked and paid for this hotel chernz booking.com and provided the reception with confirmation of payment and reserve. We were denied registration and told that you did not pay us but booking.com, you must once again opshatit us. They got a call from the Manager from booking.com but they refused to register us. We were with two children and we were forced to spend 4 hours in the lobby, none of the staff helped and talked in a rude way. As a result, we were not checked into the hotel despite the fact that we fully paid for everything. The most amazing time and experience of communication was in this hotel. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL! The supervisor refused to fill us in and accept reservations from booking.com and constantly running away from us. Terrible staff especially supervisor Alan Medina and Angel Lopes from reception.
