5 Star All The Way
The Hotel was 5 star throughout, I can not fault anything and would definitely return and thoroughly recommend .Food was 5 star in all the A la carte Restaurants, every restaurant was tasteful and 5 star service and food. Buffet equally deserves 5 star, amazing choice of food and classy tables laid out. The drink was all quality Brand names and your glass was never empty, a waiter would appear and top it up before it was finished, the wine was good quality too both red and white. Rooms were stunning and immaculate and the four poster bed so comfortable. Pillows very comfortable, I normally struggle to sleep away from home but slept wonderfully during my stay. Air conditioning adjustable which was perfect. Staff happy, friendly and dressed immaculately, everyone always cheerful and eager to help and so happy. Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville is 5 star throughout and spotless. I stayed in the Adult Only Part of the Hotel. They do have a family hotel too within walking distance of the Adults only Hotel which I visited on one of the days and I have to say it also looks lovely for families. I would totally consider coming back with family, it would be perfect to have the children/grandchildren stay on the family part of the resort and be able to walk across and spend time with them but come back to the peace and tranquillity of the Adults section when you wanted too. Arrival to Departure was 5 star all the way, on arrival you are passed a heated cloth for your hands and a glass of cold champagne and from then, throughout its just wonderful service. I really cant say words to express the impressiveness of the experience. Thank you for an amazing holiday

We wont be going back
READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO! We stayed at the Bouganville property for our anniversary. It takes about an hour and 20 minutes to get there by car from the Punta Cana Airport. When we arrived it was clean, and very pretty to look at. Check-in took quite a long time. They move slowly. We put that down to the island vibe and looked past it. It must be noted that there is a HUGE language barrier. Hardly anyone spoke any English so it was very difficult to communicate effectively. I had reserved an ocean view room. I wanted us to be able to sit on the balcony and take in the view while sharing a drink. When we finally got to the room, it was overlooking the activity pool. The pool with all the loud music and events. I let them know about this and asked for a different room. After a few attempts I gave up. The room itself did not look horrible but the smell! It smelled like a musty basement. You know that smell of an unfinished basement that has a dampness issue....THAT smell. I let them know and asked if they could please send someone with air freshener or move us to a different room. After a few attempts I eventually gave up. The bed was hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. It was one of those old school mattresses where you can feel every spring under you. We didn’t get a good nights sleep one time, what with the small of the room and the rock of a bed. We wanted to take a shower after traveling so much and go grab some food. Yep...you guessed it. No hot water. We let the shower run for about 15 minutes before getting in and it landed up being mildly tepid. Luke warm at best. There was a bathtub in the bathroom too. We let that water run for a good 30 minutes and it didn't get hot at all. I tried to call down to the front desk, but the phone in the room didn’t work. (In fact it kept alerting us to a message that would not clear…. no matter how many times we pushed the message button. Finally I unplugged the phone to stop the incessant noise it was making). I downloaded the app and sent maintenance a message about the hot water. Finally at 11:30pm someone showed up to fix it. He let the water run for 30 minutes, told me (via the Google Translate app) that he is going to check the hot water heater, left the room and never returned. We had no hot water for the rest of our stay. I gave up complaining. We decided to go get some food. We weren’t sure of how this all worked (it was our first time at an all inclusive resort) so we found an Asian restaurant and walked in. Apparently we needed reservations (that need to be made months in advance), but the buffet was open without reservations. We went to the buffet. Everything looked delicious and we were starving. It wasn’t. Im not sure whose favor profile they were cooking for but it was definitely not ours (and we are not picky eaters). The food was awful. The taste was terrible and the texture was nasty. There were a few items that we were able to eat but we definitely left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. We went back to the room and decided to get some room service thinking that may be better. It wasn’t. At all!! The food arrived cold and it was stale. Stale tortilla chips topped with ice cold cheese sauce. Stale bread on the club sandwich. Soggy french fries. Just horrible. I booked a Romantic dinner one the beach, It cost extra but it looked beautiful. One again, the food was very average. Better than the buffet but definitely nothing to write home about. The staff are very friendly, but like I said, no one speaks English very well at all. The alcohol flows freely and is readily available. We loved the idea of an all-inclusive resort in a beautiful location, and we still believe it can be an amazing experience. Just not at Bahia Principe Bouganville. We will not be going back.

Poor experience so far from a Bahia Principe hotel
Arrived last Friday (staying for 2 weeks) upon arrival in our room we checked out our balcony only to get a string smell of weed! We told the porter but he shrugged it off. One of our first things to do was book our evening meals.. no availability in any of the restaurants so used the buffet restaurant for a few nights.. the first nights food was lovely but the second night at the buffet all the meats duck etc was tough……..first a la carts restaurants was in the Italian. The app told us there was 2 spaces left for 9.30pm. When we arrived there were loads of free tables available that didn’t get taken in that last half hour. The lady at the front desk said “ download the menu” and continued talking to her friend…. No pleasantries … We were seated and had to wait a while for drinks. A nice bread basket and oils were presented. Our food choices arrived carpaccio was pleasant. Next our tomato and basil soup and another one which was minestrone … both were cold. Next our mains pizza and the beef dish . Both weren’t spectacular in taste… the plates were hot but again the fools cold. Half an hour in and we had plates being clattered around us as they were clearly setting up for next mornings breakfast service … noisily. We do have a second booking for the Italian but I’ve decided to cancel for the buffet instead. Monday at the pool… the water at the quiet pool was very dirty early in the morning… a lot of flies and an oil slick.. please see photos. I didn’t venture in to have a dip. Also quite a few loud guests having long lengthly speakerphone conversations allowing everyone around to hear. We even found one guest with a boom box not the peace and tranquility I had hoped for. This morning ( Tuesday) we were down early for the breakfast not realizing it was 6.50 am the waiter shouted at us “opens 7am!!” I thought shouting at guests was not appreciated. At around 10.30am each morning a loud smoke dispensing generator kicks in around the pool vicinity. Every evening we sit on our balcony and our pot head neighbours are constantly smoking weed. On another note about the hotel, the tiles in the rooms get incredibly slippy due to the high humidity definitely a deathtrap … those around the pool also slippy. One positive I’d like to mention is the staff at the quiet pool bar Marien and staff are so jolly friendly and welcoming. They work hard but always have a smile on their faces… well done to them. The hotel can’t do much about this point but worth mentioning the water beside the beach is very murky certainly not that picture postcard colour you associate with the Caribbean. All in all I feel very let down as I’ve visited most of the Bahia Principe hotels .. I came here thinking it followed the same standards.

Amazing!!!!
Amazing trip! Probably one of my best vacations I’ve ever had. My Wife and I went for our birthdays the end of April into the first of May. The staff was amazing and friendly. The entertainment team was off the charts, they are just full of energy just a name a few Roberto, JC, Maria, Evelyn, and Luis was a big part of our day every day. I’ve never had people make us feel more welcome. I didn’t even wanna come back home already looking to see when we can take our next trip there overall amazing!

The good, the bad, and the ugly
I'll start with the good. We have stayed at high end all inclusives in the Carribean and were looking for something less expensive but still nice. This resort hit that mark. It is an older resort but well maintained and the staff, generally, were very friendly and outgoing. The only reason I can see for the more affordable pricing was that the ocean water was cloudy and not clear like other resorts in the Carribean. This really did not bother us and we loved sitting under the palm trees on the beach. We are usually critical of the quality of food but found the meals at the a la carte restaurants to be average to above average and we really enjoyed the buffet offerings. Now the bad. We had an unfortunate incident during our stay where my wife's wedding ring (it was from her grandmother) was stolen from our room. When we checked into the room, the room safe had not been working. We were not too concerned as we felt very safe on the grounds of the resort. While the safe was broken someone took my wife's ring. Security came to our room and searched it and took a report. They claimed to have done an investigation but did not find the suspect. My issue is that management of the hotel never once seemed upset about the incident nor did they make an effort to apologize or even check in on us (in fact, they seemed to treat us more like the perpetrators than the victim). There was essentially a zero lack of concern about the incident. We even had to ask three times to get a copy of the incident report. Interestingly, during our stay I left a mediocre review about a restaurant. Now, for that, they searched us out poolside and were very concerned about why we left a poor rating. In short, they were more concerned about getting a poor star rating at a restaurant than they were about a guest being robbed in their room. All of that being said, we still had a very nice week at the resort and would consider going there again, but really wish they work with their staff on how to better handle incidents like this.
