This was the best hotel I have ever been to in my life, the quality at the hotel is great, their food is amazing and 100% fresh, the pool was relaxing and perfectly relaxing for the summer, I wish I could stay here forever and ever with my family, but this is an amazing place you should go to during the summer! APPROVED!

Wonderful suprise! Excellent hotel!
This was my 4th visit to the Domenican Republic since i have started travelling and I must say Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo surpassed my expectations! Situated in Samana, it is a remote hotel amongst the mountains not close to big cities. Small airport was fantastic. This hotel had excellent service, staff was very friendly and smiling. The grounds were very well kept, clean , and the food at the buffet was tasty, hot when it needs to be. Many choices for everyones' liking. The pool was well maintained. Beach was phenomenal calm and ideal for long walks and snorkling a couple of metres in . It is a family oriented hotel with a nice diversity of clientele. Did not feel overcrowed even if it was full. Our junior suite room was very clean and quiet. I recommend to anyone and everyone. 👍

Areas of improvement, more staff in the buffet restaurant and more entertainment options. The availability of core items like plates and cups was short on two out of the four days there. The staff could not keep up with attending to guests during peak times. The entertainment options all throughout the day was a bit weak in comparison to other resorts. The tennis court needs resurfacing and the bathrooms have leaks Room some oldest and pillows horrible

10/10 would recommend
Great staff, beautiful property, high energy entertainment. Delicious food in all the restaurants 10/10 recommend. They have free activities, kayak, paddle board were our favorites. They have a circus show one night and fire show on the beach another. Dowload the app to stay on top of all the activities they have daily. Take the exploration tour, it's a lot of kids but you will learn a lot about the plants and animals on the property.

I've been there four times before but this time the rooms were terrible. No air conditioning, old rooms, old worn towels and sheets. I used to love this place but am very afraid of coming back next year. I've read a lot of the negative reviews of the past few years of the neglect. It seems they do not care to fix or replace their air conditioning, towels and conditions of the rooms. I came with my family but I was the only single traveler. I was put on the other side of the complex away from my family. They wanted $75 us more to be closer. How can I trust them if I ever go back. I would need a guarantee from the hotel management. We are supposed to go for two weeks but I'm afraid of lack of customer service. Be careful people. Daria Lily Baczynsky (Lavigueur)
