May 28, 2025Wonderful vacation
This was our first time visiting Samaná, and we stayed at Bahia El Portillo — it was simply amazing! From the moment we arrived, everything went smoothly. The airport transfer was well-organized, even with three full busloads of guests from our flight heading to the same hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The food had great variety and was delicious — we were genuinely impressed. Drinks were also fantastic, with lots of great options. The à la carte restaurants were just okay so far — nothing exceptional — but we’re still enjoying our stay and looking forward to trying the Greek restaurant on Friday. The beach and pool areas are beautiful and well-maintained — truly a highlight of the resort. So far, we’re having an excellent experience and would definitely recommend this resort to others visiting Samaná for the first time!

May 27, 2025Recommend - Beautiful and Relaxing
The music is a bit loud for my liking but other than that, everything about Grand El Portillo was perfect. Good snorkeling, Professional staff, good food & drinks, private and public areas kept clean and manicured. Requests are quickly managed and the atmosphere is great. They even have cats for your entertainment! Sadly, the last two hurricanes blew away a lot of the soft sand but it is still beautiful.

Awesome experience!
This resort is excellent! Well maintained, very clean and the staff is friendly and professional! I will recommend this resort as the beach is great, safe for kids as the waves are blocked by the corals making it very safe to enjoy. The food is great, lots of choices even for people with allergies or gluten intolerance!

Nice resort, would rate as a 4* out of 5.
Very enjoyable resort with wonderful staff, beautiful beach and pool. Food was great at a la carte and buffet restaurants. Have a beautiful new sports bar. Entertainment was so, so in comparison to other Bahia's or other big branded resorts but was still enjoyable. The rooms were nice and well maintained. However the hot tub was a very cold tub! The hand dryers in the washrooms all shut off in literally 5 seconds and then would not restart without a long wait. The Privilege Club was a lip service feature mostly with no real perks except that the Privilege Club Private beach and beach chair area was nice except that people kept taking the chairs for the adjoining areas or onto the beach so sometimes there were not enough chairs.

Beautiful resort
Beautiful resort! The beach is fantastic. The restaurants are good...we liked the French one best. Staff are fantastic! They work so hard every day to ensure guests are entertained and comfortable. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated but clean. Would recommend!!!
