    Great value for money - sunsets included!

    The reasonably priced oceanfront suite offers a stunning view (including sunsets), is (more than!) spacious and well equipped as well as quiet at night (apart from the soothing sound of the waves!). Staff was super friendly and honored our requests (adding an extra night and slightly later check-out).

    Amazing views of the ocean

    We were a family of four and found the environment to be extremely family friendly and accommodating. The beautiful ocean breezes and views will be a forever memory. In particular, Jamie at the front desk was extremely helpful, coming to my aid on a time-sensitive issue.

    Dated

    Great location. Unit needs overall update. Carpet, floor coverings, toilets all could use update/upgrade. Can’t beat hearing the waves crash but, bedroom on opposite side of the beach. Would not stay here again.

    A Step Above All Other Hotels

    Kona by the Sea is located in a great location and the rooms are very accommodating. We were only supposed to stay for two nights, 8/8-8/10 but due to the fires in Lahaina our hotel stay within Maui for the remainder of our trip was cancelled. We were without a place to stay until we could secure a flight home on 8/12. Sara at the front desk made sure we had a room for our family of five for two additional nights when there was no vacancy. The staff here are so nice, including the manager who introduced himself. Don't hesitate to stay here knowing there are people here who genuinely care about your family.

    In the End, a Great Stay

    A rough first night gave way to an enjoyable six-night stay. When we arrived and got to our condo, the air conditioning was broken. It was so hot in that room. It was evening, so no maintenance person was on duty, and they were full so there was no other condo to move us to. We had a pretty uncomfortable first night sleeping given the temperature was 78 degrees inside. Luckily, the next morning, the staff had another room to move us to. The AC worked, and they heavily discounted that first night on our bill. It went a long way to make up for the inconvenience. The new condo was great, and we never looked back. It was clean and comfortable, and the views from our ocean front balcony were amazing. We've stayed at an Aston property on Maui that features an on-site restaurant and a shop on property. Kona by the Sea has none of that, but we never missed them. This property has beautiful grounds, a pool right next to the ocean, and a sandy area above the black rocks on the surf (no beach here). The seating in these areas was never full. We never felt like the place was crowded. And, the parking is free - also a change from our past experiences with Aston! In the end, we really enjoyed our time here. The staff's effort to make that first night right was deeply appreciated. We'd definitely stay here again.
