Staff was kind and professional even though it was crowded and everyone is working with COVID restrictions. We will refer friends and definitely come back ourselves. The grounds were very well kept and the spa was incredible.
Spring Break 2021
We stayed at this resort April 3-7 with our 2 kids for part of our spring break trip. We booked a Deluxe Queen Suite near the Oasis Water Park. We chose the Arizona Grand because our kids love water parks and we knew they would have a blast here. We arrived around noon, it was a Saturday and there were a lot of people trying to check in. Our room wasn’t ready yet, so we got changed and headed to the water park. It was packed! They have tons of chairs and we managed to snag one up on a mound of dirt near the lazy river. They squeeze chairs in anywhere they can! The water park is fun, the kids loved the slides, lazy river, and wave pool. Our room was located in the Camelback section, C356. It was on the 3rd floor overlooking the parking lot and the 1st hole on the golf course. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. Maybe I am picky, but I was shocked at the amount of dust on the baseboards, door jams, cabinets, and the clumps of dust on the peeling bathroom wallpaper. It clearly had not been truly cleaned in a while. With all of the talk about cleanliness and Covid standards it made me wonder how clean the surfaces were if those things had been missed. The room was worn, the walls were dinged up, the mirrors were hazy, the floors made our feet black. We called maintenance right away because the room was hot and so was the mini fridge. Someone came quickly and swapped out the dirty air filter and got us a new fridge. The room cooled down, but the fridge did not. Luckily there is an ice machine and we were able to fill the bar sink with ice to keep drinks cold. There is a line in the morning to get into the water park. Be sure to keep your wristband if you decide to take it off. You have to turn in the old band for a new one. We lined up at 10 am and easily got chairs in the shade. The food is pricey and the selection isn’t huge. Everything we ordered was good though. They had a BBQ place inside the water park that was cash only and it was very good. Soft drinks are very expensive...$7 for a large! They are not providing housekeeping, but we were always able to grab towels and toilet paper from the housekeeping area below. The resort had fireworks and we had a great view from our balcony. They also did dive in movies on Saturday and Sunday. Overall we had a nice stay. I give it 3 stars because the rooms are showing wear and the cleanliness was not to my standards.
One of the worst resorts I have stayed at
Where shall I start- First of all the place need some major renovations and someone to come in with a pressure washer and clean it up. There are cracked tiles, with half done work, to patch the tiles. Secondly, the pool's are filthy and packed with people and I was afraid I would catch something, so I ventured over to the 21 + pool and it was dirty, too. In addition, they don't check room key, ect. so anyone can come in and use the facilities and pool, which I am sure alot of people at the pool weren't staying at the hotel. As for restaurants, there is only one and you have to wait in line to get service. As for maid service, there was none, and when I tried to communicate, she didn't speak english and she was outside our room speaking spanish to a friend, very loudly. The lounge area is packed and there isn't enough room to sit, so I didn't get to enjoy the lounge area, either. Overall, for the price we paid, I was extremely dissatisfied and I will not be coming back.
Wolf Lodge of the Desert
Without question one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Only food available was at the grossly over crowed pool and it consisted of Hamburgers, fries and hot dogs all at prices 2-3 fair market. Couldnt find anything healthy to ever eat here. Hotel does not clean rooms. Said it was due to covid. Arizona does not require masks and neither did the hotel but too risky to clean our room when we arent in there.... Used covid as an excuse for no maid service, awful food quality and selection and lack of any waitress or waiters at the pool. Our first upgraded room they gave us was a handicap room that over looked the parking lot (but called mountain view). We did get a new room because the hvac didnt work but had to pay more for the villas which are nice. Other rooms are tired and have minimal natural light. Didnt stay in one but looked like prison cells. Overall, this was Wolf Lodge in the Dells wisconsin with dated rooms, worse food, service and 3x more expensive. Weather was great.....but really has nothing to do with this hell hole.
Nice hotel for kids
My kids loooooved it here. The lazy river and wave pool were a huge hit. The rooms were just ok. Most of the restaurants were closed due to covid when we came so we door dashed most of our food. The hotel is in an interesting area. Seemed a little rough but we hardly left the resort except for one run to the grocery store. We will likely come back again. Hopefully we can take advantage of more of the amenities next time.
