Two thumbs up!
The Andaz Maui is a premier Hyatt property and the building, rooms, location, staff, and amenities all back that up. I took my family there for 5 nights and we loved it. My kids were 15 and 18 years old for this trip and those were great ages to be for them to appreciate the resort and enjoy most amenities. Food was a little pricey but about the same as every other resort on the beach in Wailea. The sound insulation is among the best so you can barely hear noise outside your room. The walk in shower is huge, water pressure was excellent at all times, and daily complimentary snacks (Maui chips, cookies, root beer, juice, and coffee) were good. I highly recommend!

Perfect family villa
We love the Andaz so much. It was perfect for a family of 7! It was clean , safe, accommodating, everything right on hand that you could need for a perfect vacation! Our favorite things about our whole trip included our road to Hannah trip with Pono (Open Eye Tours) , the Morimoto sushi restaurant by the each day while our kids did. The art class was probably our favorite adult time which we repeated three times during our trip! The sushi was incredible! Our Villa was absolutely perfect for us but if we go back again, I would want to do a villa with the hammock on the water , they are stunning! We even got to meet the owner of the property because he was chilling on the beach . Such a nice guy! Nelson at the pool is amazing! My kids loved Jase the bartender for giving fresh fruit!

Best 50 th anniversary stay!!!!
We chose the Andaz to celebrate our 50th anniversary and had a marvelous experience! Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The Chef’s Table was an exceptional experience with a wonderful 6 course meal, great staff and a lovely atmosphere. Can’t say enough about this! Highly recommend the Andaz!!!!

Mixed feelings
At the Andaz now, and I want to share a few things I would have liked to read before choosing. - location is great, if you want a remote quiet area with basically the same type of people (5 star hotel people), we didn't mind but glad we only did this for part of the vacation. It’s a bubble for sure. - parking will cost you 59usd + tax, Valet only. No way to park by yourself, its not allowed. And no overnight parking in the area (again, its pretty remote). - the “shopping area” nearby is not walking distance and its insanely boring, we are a young family with 2 kids (9 and 15) and there was truly nothing to do. Again same type of “bubble” people there. I dont even remember what shops they had there. Thats how unimpressive it was.. - Hospitality…hmmm…maybe its because we’re from NYC but it felt a little condescending here. Gabby at reception was not really welcoming when we got here first, didnt address my upgrade request properly (I was willing to pay even more than we already do because we care about experiences) but she wasnt listening. For the price we pay (about 1000 per night without extras) I expected a bit more attention. - Gabby saw our kids and said “how old are they”- I replied 14& 9 and she said “oh our cut off for adult charge at breakfast is 12 so you have 3 adults”…i showed her that in my booking none of that was mentioned and it labeled my kids as kids, so that was new. While I understand it thats their cut off- they should make that clear in the booking profile. She adjusted it and it was all good- but a weird interaction. Not friendly at all. - we had breakfast included, breakfast is pretty good. No complaints. Servers there are the nicest from what we’ve experienced. The lady at breakfast check in however (the one that checks room nr etc) doesnt even look at you when checking in.. - food and drinks are pricey, even for New Yorkers. But I guess that comes w the territory. Just be prepared. If you want to step out (take the car) and support locals, go to Paia fish market. Its great! - finally bad experience with the restaurant Marimoto (its on their property), they upcharge people (add a couple dollars per sushi roll). When I noticed it twice the first time they changed it and the second time the guy (Andrew) said “no, we can not adjust it, we can print new menus if you want”. Crazy attitude. Of course he ended up changing it, it became a matter of principle for me. Even if its a few dollars per check- its shady. Pools and beach are nice and super relaxing. Just be prepared for mixed service..
