The hotel was good! The people at the hotel were friendly, The rooms are small but are fine, I loved the nature! there are many options for restaurants, close the beach and parks. I loved I will comeback! Again.
nice place, my door was broke, one faucet hot water nothing came out telephone never worked. my friends door was not working either. great bartenders and food was excellent. pool was very nice first club great. activity's were great
9th time in paradise
Just returned from our 9th time at the Allegro. Sad to leave, and sad that the virus has affected the resort and staff. We had a great stay, Francisco and Rafael do a wonderful job of running the resort. The beach had some seaweed once in a while, was cleaned up, but you must remember the beach is public property. The ground are immaculate and the lighting is magical at night. The room was as requested, the A/C was fine, maid service was perfect, as was front desk. The food was great, so all compliments to Chef Carlos and his staff. The main asset here is the staff. A more friendly and accommodating group would be hard to find. In particular, Manuel, Erica, Isaac, Rigoberto, and a dozen others are what makes this place. We certainly expect to be back next year for our 10th vacation.
Great place to go with young children!
We were staying at this resort while the COVID-19 was really starting to pick up. While we were there, the resort went from 90% full to 40% full. It will likely be completely empty by next week. The resort had to lay off half of it's staff because of this. The staff that was left still were super-friendly and accommodating. The entertainment crew still did an awesome job keeping up with entertainment. Jesus was awesome! This is a great resort with children as it is not too large and it's easy to keep track of where they are at. The food here was delicious! They have different themes every night at the buffet. The lunch was always very good. The atmosphere was great. The grounds were very well kept-up as well. They do a great job keeping everything clean and trim. I will definitely come back here again!
4th Year in a Row to Allegro Playacar; Planning for #5
What an awesome 4 weeks we spent at the Allegro Playacar, our 4th year in a row and we plan on it being our yearly destination of choice. There are so many things to rave about. Their 286 room (it was on a quiz when we were there) 8-plex thatched roof huts are so quaint & cozy. They are well maintained and any minor issues, they are on it right away. The GM Francesco, assistant director Carla, Augystin and hotel manager Raphael are all so personable and truly cared about our vacation experience. They all treated us like a person, not just a number whenever we talked to any of them. Activity staff - led by Rene, kept us busy all day (unless we chose to fall asleep on the many loungers). They had stretch class, zumba, water aerobics, beach volleyball/soccer, table tennis, basketball, tennis, Bingo (my favorite) and a different ‘crazy game’ every day. Even if you didn’t participate, the activities were always entertaining. The energy of these employees is amazing – we were glad to see you again Ivan. Michelle from Italy – you have dance in your blood. I hope you/Bruno’s families are all safe back home in Italy. Rene is a great leader and we enjoyed watching you dance and interact with all of us. Foam/bubble party – it’s a hit every Saturday. If you are booking at this resort, don’t plan to be off resort on an excursion or anywhere on Saturday – you don’t want to miss the foam party. See pictures – the pool is full of bubbles, people, fun, music, dance and laughter. Suggestion to Allegro – put up a bulletin board along the walkway or lobby with pictures of your Saturday foam party as I’ve told other vacationers at the resort to make sure and stay Saturday because they knew nothing about it. They thanked us afterwards for letting us know. Swim-up pool bar & Waiters – always busy and always had a smile and said hello. Abel has been our favorite bartender and makes the best tasting margaritas EVER. Manual, Nestor (happy 60th), Claudio, Bernardo, Alejandro & Umberto were always on the spot with refills. Thanks guys – I know I forgot some names – we’ll catch you next year. The Bellboy staff – always had time to chat with us in the mornings when leaving and coming back from our walks. You even sympathized with my husband knowing he might be going shopping. Food – we didn’t eat at the a-la-carte’s. We don’t like having to be back from our walk at 9:00 (or earlier because there is usually a line-up) to book and you can only book for that day. In saying that, we were perfectly ok eating at the buffet each night. There was always something for us, my favorite buffet theme nights were Asian, Mexican (yum – tortilla soup) and BBQ. My morning pick-me-up was the cook humming and singing while she made my omelet. Rooms – we were totally satisfied. We always had hot water for our showers. There is no bathtub so if you have a little one, bring a small inflatable pool to use in the large shower. We slept good every night, finding the mattress to be good & firm. Spa & couple’s massage – my husband said he had the best deep tissue massage he’s ever had (Luu?). My relaxing massage was just that – so relaxing. Night entertainment – it’s a long day in the sun so having shows earlier would perhaps fill the seats. Starting shows at 9:30 is too late for us so I can’t give you my take on the entertainment. Had they advertised Jersey Boys or Michael Jackson shows (like last year), then I would have been there. Summary – Allegor Playacar is perfectly situated in the midst of the best part of the Playacar beach, no seaweed this year and a short 20 min walk into Playa del Carmen for shops, restaurants and dancing. We’ve always felt totally safe walking to/from there. Sometimes I heard “the birds wake me up”, “I can’t find anything to eat” or “music is too loud”. I think - “get a grip” as you probably complain everywhere you go. If you truly have a complaint, talk to a supervisor and see what can be done. Above all, be nice (like the Canadians – eh!).
