Great for families with kids
Rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Staff was helpful and responsive. There is no need to leave the property as there is a lot to do onsite.

Kind of Disappointing
After an 8 hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area, we arrived at about 3:45pm and advised the two rooms I booked were not ready. Check in time is 4pm so no problem. At 4:15pm I checked again and the rooms weren't ready. At 5pm the rooms still weren't ready. Meanwhile, my family's luggage and our ice chest are sitting outside cooking in the 100+ degree temperatures. At 5:15pm I started getting a little irritated and was told they were fixing a door in the room and they should be available within the hour. We ended up getting one of the rooms at 5:30 and the other after 6. Upon entering our first room, there was garbage on the floor (a straw and wad of paper towels) and one of the counter surfaces was covered in salt and pepper as if someone ate on it. They did give us a $150 credit toward the rooms and a $25 credit at their little market (which will get you a beer and a couple waters), but after a long day of travel credits aren't that important. The folks working the front doors/valet were great, very friendly and inviting. I wanted to break some $20's to tip however the bar is no cash so I was told by the bartender to go to the check-in desk to get change. Nope, they don't do that. Just kind of annoying. Get on the same page. I saw several people trying to do this as the welcoming staff was certainly deserving of a tip. THE FOOD: I was really anticipating the restaurant here to live up to the level the website purported it to be. The second night of our trip we went to Carmocha for dinner. The Deviled Eggs, $14 for 4 halves, were soupy and flat like little bowls of yolk soup. I ordered the fried chicken for dinner. For $24 you get a half chicken, no sides. I cut the breast in half and it was completely raw and it had to go back. I opted to just have a burrata salad instead of waiting another 20 minutes for another chicken order. The salad came out way longer than expected and was completely inedible. I don't know what kind of vinegar they used but it was the most acidic/strong vinegar I've ever tasted. The pasta with butter and cheese that my 11 year old ordered came in a bowl swimming in a pool of butter. Just way overpriced for the service and quality of food. The pool was nice and we enjoyed our time there. The grounds were well kept and overall the rooms were nice. When I travel this area again, I'll try out a different place.

Fun 4th of July Hotel
My family and I stayed here over the long 4th of July weekend. We arrived at around 1 pm and were told our room wasn't ready but they gave us wristbands to use the pool until our room was ready. As soon as my kids changed into their swimsuits in the lobby restrooms I received a text saying our room was ready, well before the 4 pm listed arrival time. We were given room 3307 on the third floor with a view of the pools. We have stayed at this hotel when it was a Hyatt Regency and even as far back of when it was a Hyatt Grand Champions. We haven't stayed here since the lazy river and dual waterslides were added a few years back and both were welcome additions for my daughters. My wife really liked how they upgraded the room - especially the plant in the corner and the floor to ceiling to covered ceiling wood feature. Our room was a King bed with a sofa bed in the L-shaped couch in the sitting area, which was perfect for us. The high ceiling and the step-down into the sitting area made the room feel very expansive. The bathroom upgrade was nice but for some reason they left the old cheap doors to the bathroom that looked VERY out of place compared to the rest of the furnishings. They were also impractical when my 8 year old daughter wasn't strong enough to pull them open herself and was locked in the bathroom for a minute or so as it seems like they had either warped a bit larger or had one too many layers of paint on them that would force them to jam. The water pressure in the shower also was a little on the weak side as well but other than those issues the bathroom was spacious and modern. The highlight of the hotel for my family was the addition of the lazy river and waterslides. My girls loved both as well as all the other pools and the original little waterslide that my daughters were once intimidated by as young swimmers, now in the shadow of the HUGE new waterslides. The pools were full of people celebrating the 4th of July weekend snd a DJ was there playing music as well. We had a little trouble finding open pool chairs but no more of a problem than anywhere else. Overall we had a nice stay and although the hotel has gotten pricier over the years we found value in what it had to offer us. Self parking got a little full but we were always able to find a spot. We look forward to coming back again soon.

Disappointed
The Grand Hyatt could have had the ADA room we pre-reserved ready for our requested early check in time. Staff offered a temporary regular room, which we accepted, and then we were told the ADA would not be ready. Clearly the Grand Hyatt discriminates against handicapped persons. The temporary room become permanent and the staff had nothing to say or offer to make our stay more enjoyable. Needless to say, but, we were very disappointed, and likely will post this event on social media.
