    Disappointing view

We stayed in River Island Village. When we booked, the description of the view of our room was forest view. We had a beautiful view of the parking lot. The forest was in a far distance across from the parking lot. While on vacation we always enjoy spending time on our balcony to relax, this is very important to us. There was nothing relaxing about looking out over a parking lot full of cars. We never sat on the balcony all week. I felt like we were misled by the description. I would have booked another location. While driving around the resort we saw many other places to stay that would afford a much better view. Also they charge you to use the inner tubes in the lazy river. I’ve not been to a resort where I’ve had to pay extra to use them.

    Forget about relaxing

I stayed here as I had heard people rave about the pool. The pool area is so far from most rooms that you must drive to it. Our room was a 6 minute drive to the pool. They lack smaller pools within walking distance that I have seen at many other resorts I have stayed at. Staff are not attentive. Lots of cats speeding on property so I did not feel safe walking around. No sidewalks either. Internet keeps dropping the signal so you need to rely on your own data. They charge to use a tube in the lazy river and the lazy river is only 2 feet deep in some places, 4 feet in others so you keep scrapping the bottom as you go around. I would never stay here again, there are plenty of great places to stay in Florida. I travel to Florida several times a year.

    A Great Stay!!

1st off i would like to start off saying that this is one of the Cleanest IHG properties i have ever been too. We had a 5 night stay in a 2 bedroom villa. Took the room a while to get ready but it was okay. Im picky about room location. They did offer me a room that was already done but i chose to wait and im glad i did. There is so much to do at this property. My family just did the pools. It is located around a lot of restaurants and shopping. This is our 5th visit to this property and im sure we will be back! Christina at the front desk is AMAZING!! If there is the slightest issue, shes on it!! Bianca was a huge help as well when i was checking on my room.

A Rude Worker Traumatized My Child

I don’t know who this woman is or why she would choose to willingly work at a place with primarily children if she evidently dislikes what she’s doing but I’ve spent a few days at this resort and this woman successfully ruined my family and I entire stay. I wish I had a name to properly address her by, however she conveniently would cover her name tag with the pool stick when she saw I was live streaming. I was able to capture this photo afterwards. This was our first time at the resort so we decided to spend time at the lazy river with my 4yo son on the tubes. In order to use the tubes a wrist band must be purchased which we hadn’t known of prior until they showed us the sign. That’s totally fine. Rules are rules and are in place for a reason. Fair. While walking to the stairs to get my son out of the tubes, she screamed at us that we have to get out of the tubes. We explained we were walking to the stairs parallel to the platform she was standing on so we can safely get the child out to return the tube to her. She advised us that my 4yo son, who is no taller than 3 feet, “can just jump out” into 4 feet of water and began poking at the tube he was in with a pool stick to get the support of the tube from beneath him. Mind you, he is 3ft over a 4ft body of water with a woman poking at his support to remove it. If we weren’t there holding him on the tubes she could’ve drowned him being careless. Up until this point, I enjoyed my trip but this incident made us avoid the pool areas of the resort because my son would cry as he entered the water out of fear of tipping over or encountering her again. She doesn’t deserve to lose her job especially not in this climate but she DEFINITELY deserves being reprimanded for nearly assaulting 4yo children with pool sticks to take tubes from them.im sure this has happened before and it will happen again, only to the wrong people. I was live-streaming at the time and I have this entire encounter on video!! Management was at least nice enough to be able to give my son tickets to play in the arcade but that pool lady traumatized my son. I don’t plan to ever come back here. Nope. Not at all.

Perfect place to stay and explore Orlando!

As first time Orlando (and USA) visitors I felt pressure when trying to choose where we should stay. There are SO many options but Orange Lake kept catching my eye. As a family of 2 adults and 2 teens (18 and 16) we had no intention of filling our 2 week stay with theme parks. We had booked a day in Magic Kingdom and had tickets to visit the Universal Parks. We had so much we wanted to tick off and we love pool days so staying here and hiring a car to explore seemed the perfect option to us….. it was!!! On arrival to Orange Lake, it was around 8pm. We had a super friendly lady check us in and explained how everything on the resort worked. She explained that the units are not cleaned daily and we are responsible for the cleaning but that she would schedule us a mid stay clean due to being there for 2 weeks. We were blown away by the size of our 2 bed apartment. We had more than enough room. Bonus of a washer and dryer. I’ve come home with one load of washing!!! We were overlooking part of the golf course which for my golf mad husband was perfect and he spent mornings with a cup of tee watching golfers tee off. This resort is in a great location for exploring. We were around 40 mins from universal and 30 from Magic Kingdom. Again, 30 mins from Old Town and International Drive. Just perfect! We also absolutely loved the 4th July celebrations. The fireworks were amazing!!! The vibe around the resort is great and friendly. The pools!! So many to choose from. We tried them all and always got a bed. You do need to be up early for an umbrella but there are normally some in the shade or under trees so it really wasn’t an issue. Love the fact there are quieter pools if you don’t want the more chaotic environments. The food we had in The Breeze was some of the nicest food we had during our whole holiday and really well priced. My husband played golf while we were there which he loved and we all played the Top Golf which was really good fun. Safe to say we have no regrets staying here and if we went back to Orlando, this is exactly where we would stay again!!
