You get what you pay for
Overall, I would say this resort was worth it for the money we paid. A lower budget resort for a decent price. But probably would stay elsewhere for around the same price. The good: The drinks and food were decent. Have def had worse food at other resorts. Pool is huge and always got a lounge chair. The service was amazing. Jose Luiz exceeded our expectations and always had a drink or two in our hand at the pool. Tip him well if you go! The italian restaurant had really great food also. Get the Margherita pizza. Ricardo and Martin were awesome waiters at the italian restaurant. We ate here every night because the food and service were so good. The beach is swimable and roped off where you can swim. The okay: Liquor drinks seem watered down. We upgraded to the Romantic 2 Balcony Room. 2 balconies were nice but a not very big room. There were paint chips all over the balcony but housekeeping cleaned it the next day. Mini bar never got refilled in the 3 nights we stayed there so that was a bummer. Also housekeeping moved our phone charger which caused a big issue in not being able to find them. The bad: I say this in the most respectful way, but we only saw one other American couple the entire stay. All the other guests were pretty rude and would sit in front of our chairs at the pool and not even make conversation with us. It seemed we were not welcome in the mexican guests eyes. We like to meet other people and talk when we go places so this sucked for us. On Monday, they bussed in a ton of people which caused the buffet line to be over an hour wait in the morning. It caused bar service and pool food to take extremely long. Guests staying there should get priority over day use people. Also the swim up bar is not open right now but luckily Jose was there for us.
My 2020 vacation
It was a beautiful hotel and a nice beach , I loved the food and service as well as the activities. The people in charge of the activities were amazing especially this one girl named Jessica would always invite me to play games and she’s super nice. I really liked my stay and highly recommend this place .
The main reason why we picked Sunscape out of the other AMR resorts was because of trying to save money and have a vacation on a budget and that was definitely realized when we got there. I was disappointed in the room we paid for it just was not as expected, they did a great job decorating for my significant other’s birthday and the resort property itself was beautiful but the rooms definitely need to be upgraded we didn’t see what the pictures represented. We ended up going to a vacation package presentation at the sister resort the day after we checked in and ended up moving to that hotel for the rest of our vacation which was excellent, nothing against Sunscape it just wasn’t up to par for what we wanted in a luxury vacation.
Very Good vacation
Leaving today from Sunscape after a week of beautiful weather. Only negative about the hotel was the limited food options and same menus daily. The positives completely outweighed the negatives. Room was perfectly cleaned daily. The restaurant staff connected with my kids on the first day. Alex at the pool was our server on almost every day. He was absolutely wonderful to my entire family but especially our kids. The activities staff, especially Jessica and Marcos were great with keeping our kids and us busy throughout the days. The kids really loved the magic show on Saturday night. The kids club had daily activities that our children really enjoyed and the water park that just recently opened was great for the kids as well
Excellent, family friendly, budget resort.
We stayed at the Sunscape Resort at the beginning of August for a week. The resort is a 10-15 minute drive from the airport. A taxi to downtown is 6 dollars. All rules and regulations about Covid-19 were observed properly. It is a very homey, family friendly Resort. Nothing fancy, but very clean, excellent service, and great accommodations for people who are traveling on a budget. My older daughter stayed in the room with her fiancé and I stayed in another room with my younger daughter. Both rooms were clean and towels were changed twice a day. The pool is big and clean with plenty of chairs and towel service open from 9am - 8pm. Water in the ocean is not as blue as in the Caribbean due to the sand washed by rivers into the ocean, but it is very warm. Night entertainment was good. Food was not fancy, but well prepared. Most servers at the restaurants were very attentive, and we especially liked Cirilo and Rosendo. The entertainment team was great too, and Marcos was the best entertainer! There are very good massages on the beach and they cost 500 pesos or 25 dollars. Who wouldn’t be happy with a good massage on the beach? I am already planning to come back to Sunscape at the end of November for the week of my birthday! From Russia, with love. Svetlana.
