good hotel - service can improve
The access to Renaissance Island and location of the hotel is an allure and benefit. The food I ate at the hotel was good and you can easily make this an all inclusive, don't leave the area type resort. I chose to rent a car and travel and glad I did for my four day stay. My stay was first thrown off at my arrival in a rental car when there was no one upfront to greet me. I drove around and came back and was told to park down the street by the casino. Knowing the casino was attached to the hotel, I did not realize that I would be walking through the heat with my bags after parking my car. Upon driving back from to the hotel, I pulled into the front entry way because I didn't know where to park because the parking was full at the casino. The person who I thought was in charge was so busy flirting with a female companion that he wasn't paying attention to helping the guest staff. At the front desk, it was after or near the 3pm hour and I was told that I couldn't check in because my room was not ready. I'm used to this policy, especially if the hotel is full or there is a conference. But I was highly thrown off that this was the case on a Wednesday afternoon. I was overwhelmingly hot and needed air conditioning. While the house drink was a nice gesture, it was not as sufficient as a ready cool air conditioned room after a long day of travel. I also did not like that the front desk person assumed that I was going to have some big party and try to sneak people into the hotel. Housekeeping staff were kind but not attentive to detail. (Dust/Lint hanging off of fan). On a positive note, I greatly appreciated the birthday cake upon my arrival. Once I learned my way around, I just stopped asking staff questions and did my own thing. The amenities the hotel offers are great so it will always be win for many travelers. However, I do believe that service needs to be improved.

Great place to stay and awesome Flamingo Island
Good hotel for both tourists and business travelers. Nice touch was; they where giving out a snack, drink or an ice cream in the lobby randomly. A nice central hotel, you don't need a car when you are staying here since all the fun is already around the hotel.

Great place, not cheap but worth it. Very classy and well run.
Marriott has me spoiled. Efficient and courteous service. Beautiful and cozy accommodations. Zero complaints on day 1 (minor annoyances - closet light won’t turn off so that’s my nightlight to find the loo). Party bus goes by and you hear it for maybe 1 minute but I think it’s cute. Looking forward to my next visit.

DAY PASS AT RENAISSANCE
This place was an absolute dream! the weather and the water, the drinks, the food, the atmosphere, EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! we spent the day here and the service was beyond anything we could ask for. If you are lucky enough to have Melushka as your server, you will know exactly what i mean... we spent the whole day there and she is 100% the reason we had such an amazing stay. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, either for your entire stay or even just the day pass to visit. ABSOLUTELY worth it!

A real disappointment
I booked this hotel for my honeymoon for 4 nights. Used to Marriott standards, the price and the famous of the hotel was -for me- a guarantee of quality. At the end, almost everything was a disappointment. First, I booked an island view. When I arrived and opened my curtains, all I can saw is the parking. Without trying to understand, the front desk told me « it’s normal, it’s an island view » Sorry but no. It’s my honeymoon and what I can see from the first floor where you put me is all the cars on the parking, not the island. I didn’t know only the ocean view was « worth it ». Then, the room is really sad. Not even beautiful or well-decorated. It is small and soulless. Probably one of the worst Suite I ever stayed. Not even sure the cleaning was really done before our arrival because the former customers left women flip flop on a chair, and nobody saw it. Moreover, when you’re in a Marriott Hotel, when you’re in a Suite and especially when you paid more than 1 700$ for only four nights, you expect -at least- having free bottle of water. But no, you’ll have to pay 4$50 for each. Go on a grocery store, it will be less expensive. I will try to remember the breakfast and its kind staff. And also the private island. Because, honestly, the only reason why you would stay at this hotel is to go to the Renaissance private island. No other reasons whatsoever. At the end, it’s better to just pay the access to the island for one day and stay somewhere else.
