Second time around - still worth it!
Such a lovely, relaxing stay! This was our second time here and we still loved it. The staff that stood out the most in friendliness, care, and professionalism were Tafari, Dalton, Roxann, Kriss, Ravon, Lamar, and Prisella. They were such a treat to see and talk to everyday - miss them already! They really added to our experience at the resort. We enjoyed having access to Riu MoBay and Riu Reggae as well, it was nice to be able to join in on festivities taking place on the other 2 resorts - like getting to experience 3 different resorts all on one trip! Again, Riu Palace was nice and relaxing, but the staff are what truly stands out and makes it worthwhile. See you next year!
Lovely resort, very relaxing - this was our second stay. Staff that stood out with their friendliness, care, and professionalism were Tafari, Dalton, Roxann, Ravon, Lamar, and Prisella. They were such a treat to talk to every day, and were so quick to help with anything that was needed. We looked forward to seeing them! Can't wait to make another trip around to Riu Palace! Access to the other 2 properties was also nice to have - we were able to participate in the other activities and events that the other hotels put on.
Wow - What a fun trip!!
When I was doing my research on which resort to pick there was one thing that everyone kept saying was how awesome the staff is at this resort. And let me tell you ... they were not wrong. They are top notch! From the front desk to the entertainment staff, wait staff to housekeeping ... everyone is amazing & out of all the RIUs I've stayed at, this is in the top 3! Here's a review of our week in paradise! This is probably one of the smallest RIU resorts we've stayed at but we didn't mind that at all. There are 2 RIUs on either side so if you want, you can venture over and take in their activities, buffets or bars. RIU Palace has the best beach of the 3. Yes, there are planes that fly over every day which we didn't mind at all. Download the flightradar24 app and track where they're headed. Don't let it ruin your vaca! I also love Jamaica because everyone working there speaks English! We went with my sister and her husband (Joe). We arrived early and 1 room was ready and 1 wasn't. So we put all our stuff in the 1 room and ventured to the bar. Kriss was our bartender and he made some fantastic drinks to start us off! And we took part in our 1st activity and won our 1st bottle of rum! Another top bartender was Bubbles by the swim-up bar. We loved her and all the fun drinks she made us. We drank the rainbow and she picked & made all our drinks for that. Jamaica Smile was my top favorite drink all week but don't skip out on her bloody marys and she makes a Guiness-type beer that my husband liked. They really had a great drink menu to choose from so try as many as you can!! The Entertainment Crew ... best I've ever encountered (and I've been to a lot of RIUs)! They encouraged you to participate but never begged you to join. There wasn't much that we didn't do with them ... bean bags, balloon toss, beach & pool olympics, tic-tac-toe, bingo, water aerobics, Zumba & more! Our favorites ... Bravo, Spiderman, Dr. Fun Fun, Dimples, Afro, and Short Boss. I never go to the same resort twice but this crew would bring me back! So thanks to them for making this such a memorable trip!! Our room was cleaned every day by Rosemarie and she was the sweetest thing! We always had enough towels & the refrigerator was restocked daily! Remember to tip your housekeeping staff along with all your waitstaff. They do a great job! I just returned a couple weeks ago from RIU Palace Macao in Punta Cana and this resort pretty much had the same menu as that one. This one does require reservations which was kind of a pain. But we tried them all (Steakhouse twice). It was good so no complaints from that area. The breakfast buffet was good. I like being able to pick my toppings for an omelet and have it made but they didn't have that. You got whatever the cook was making and a lot of times there was quite a line waiting for them. Let me say we never went hungry so if you can't find anything then you're too picky! The salad bar is amazing! Our favorites on the waitstaff were Jemar - who always had a table ready for us at breakfast & lunch & Jilissa. I did workout every day in the gym but 1. They do have your usual free weights, weight machine and cardio machines. But I download my workouts and there's just no good spot to set up & use the free weights/workout without being in the way. That is the one downfall for this resort!!! Make sure you find out if you have Neon or White night at the RIU Party & plan your outfits accordingly. We had neon night & got our faces painted in the lobby and then walked over to Montego Bay resort next door. Next time I'll add some lighted jewelry or clothes. Saw some super fun outfits!! With the travel advisory, we didn't do any excursions. We never felt any danger but just didn't want to chance it. Plus we were having too much fun anyway! The evening entertainment was always good. We especially liked the steel drum concert, silent disco & aqua show! Don't hesitate to book at this resort. If you have any other questions let me know! We had a great time and Jamaica is one of my favorite places to travel! Ya Mon!! ;)
The service was excellent. The resort was clean and everyone was very friendly. This was our second visit and highly recommend. It’s small and quiet but you can visit the other 2 resorts for a more lively vibe.
From the moment we walked up to the front desk every employee was eager to make us feel like we were at home. The most notable was there was no timeshare or other upsell pressure from the front desk or concierge. Jamar was a waiter for the breakfast and lunch buffet service and he took care of us every morning and afternoon, he was very attentive all the way down to remembering our drink preferences and greeting us every time we walked in with a fist bump while immediately getting a table ready for us. We’ve stayed at other all inclusive resorts and this experience was like no other, dinner at the four restaurants on the resort was phenomenal once again with an emphasis on the amazing service we received. Where do I even start with the entertainment, dr fun fun Spider-Man and bravo were always around to make sure everybody was having a good time and enjoying their vacation, but they weren’t too push with anybody to participate which is something I noticed at other resorts. The foam party in the pool was amazing, I’ve never participated in one before so at first I was a little reserved, but after the drinks from Paul and bubbles at the pool bars I hopped right in and had a blast. Every employee seemed to be happy to be at work every day, which was the biggest thing I really noticed, you can pay people to look happy, but either they are really good actors or are genuinely happy to work here and make their guests feel at home. Everybody here deserves a raise, even if it means that the nightly rate goes up, I would come back.
