Hurricane Party at the Wild Orchid

We checked into secrets, wild orchid on Monday night before hurricane Beryl. After a long day of travel, we were not interested in dining at one of the restaurants so we had room service deliver a light meal of nachos a salad and fruit and cheese. I would definitely say skip room service and always go to the restaurants. It left a lot to be desired. The following day was the only day we got to really experience the resort prior to the storm hitting. We enjoyed the pool and the beach, but did seem to have a challenge getting drinks unless we left our area on the beach and went to one of the bars. The resort did handle the storm fairly well, but afterwards the back up generators did not include power to the AC and we only had one small fan in our room over the couch as opposed to the beds. The restaurants did not reopen, and the resort was overcrowded as a result of guest being moved from Breathless to Wild Orchid.

    Horrible experience

I stayed here during the hurrican no leadership and no communication. They never let me speak to a manager. They lied to me several times. I travel often and this literaly was my worse experience. There were many workers but noi leaders.

    Average….i’m feeling generous!!

Travelled with my wife for 2 weeks, staying in a swim up room which comes with a butler. The room was tired and not very big… suffice. The pool area was similarly tired and very ordinary and the beach area was small and undistinguished. There were plenty of sun loungers and our butler reserved and furnished ours each day. The pools and beach areas at the adjacent hotels were much newer and better although the middle one was crowded and noisy. St James was our favourite. The entertainment was average to good depending on the night and was in 1 place for 4 hotels so sometimes extremely busy and getting a drink could be a problem. It seems the food and entertainment area was designed for 1 hotel and the addition of 3 more wasn’t considered. The main downside was the food and restaurants…2 star at best. The breakfast restaurant was terrible with food to match. The evening restaurants were on a 1st come 1st served basis so as previously stated, a restaurant area designed for 1 hotel could not cope with the guests of 4. Luckily, having a butler was the only way to pre book restaurants but the quality, choice and service was very poor. I was left thinking that the money I spent on this holiday could have got me 10 days in the Maldives so very disappointing.

Chad Kara Sky Chavon Courtney Mr Love was just excellent. Worst trip ever!

The toilet paper holder was broken and kept falling on the floor. The water took a long time to get hot. The amount that I was supposed to pay when I checked in was different than what actually charged to my card. I spoke with the front desk supervisor before I departed who assured me that the issue would be fixed as of today o haven’t heard anything from anyone at Secrets nor Hyatt. The outlets in the room didn’t hold the charger in the wall. The staff in the restaurants were using the same gloves on the pork and the rest of the meats and I do not eat pork. The issue at checkout cause me to miss my flight because of which I had to book and pay for a new flight in order to get home which cost me double of my original flight. There were just a lot of things wrong with the entire trip. I am a travel agent and I would never recommend a resort like this to anyone.
