    Relax don't expect too much

Rooms good, food repeated 90% same, service good, plumbing in room toilet needs to be fixed, air-conditioning is irratic, electricity goes off daily, wifi drops mostly. Tea coffee in rooms pathetic. Housekeeping very bad no proper procedure followed. Staff 90 percent speak only Spanish, it's difficult to explain your need in English.

The beach and pools were beautiful. Our hotel room was pretty and beds very comfortable. Housekeeping did wonderful job restocking towels and cleaning. Drinks at pool bar took an average of 15-20 minutes to get- even tipping well- and were small. Bring large mug. Water and nonalcoholic drink availability needs improvement. Kids should not be allowed at swim up bars. Drinks not made as requested. Reserving chairs needs to be monitored 3 times it was noted that chairs reserved and no one at for at least three hours (poolside and at beach). Towels should be removed to allow shade access by others. Pool needs to be open to at least 9 pm. If dinner reservations at 5:30 out at 4 to get ready and when done eating would be nice to enjoy a swim at night while sundown. Food access needs improvement after hours. Very limited menu late at night at The Truck, but no desserts available. Would be nice to have late night ice cream, frozen ice treats or pizza available. Room service would be great for food. Rooms need to have cooler air conditioning and refrigeration. Also bathrooms need a fan for ventilation. Overall I would stay again for a special rate, definitely not paying full price. Speciality restaurants and breakfast buffet were wonderful. Would pay extra to eat at restaurants every night.

    Loved our stay

We had a lovely 2 weeks at the bahia. We stayed in villa 2 which was fantastic. We upgraded as vip guests so we had access to all hotels within the resort. We loved the aquamarine pool, and the ambar buffet (we adored miguel and ella who came over and made us smile everyday). The ambar hotel also had a sports bar and coffee shop as part of the all inclusive which we enjoyed. Room was clean, bed was comfy, poolside entertainment was great as were the shows on the beach in the evening.

Enjoyed our stay but not one for a repeat visit.

Just back from Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana one of a number of resorts all on the same complex, if all inclusive you're able to travel round all the resorts and use the facilities included in the all inclusive package, electric buggy/land trains ferry you around the resort. The resort is quite isolated, nothing in the local area to explore. The resort was quiet during our stay, the 'noisy' pool adjacent to the Garden Grill restaurant had the most life however the music is deafening, the pool just across the way next to the Capriccio Italian restaurant was much more relaxing. We didn't explore the beach pool/bar area or fast food snack bar. We had no problem with the food, we booked our 5 available a la carte restaurants prior to leaving, each was nice but nothing spectacular, in my opinion the Thali Indian was the best of the bunch. The buffet had an excellent and varied selection. The resort could do with a bit of TLC but nothing drastic, renovation work was going on during our visit however there was nothing to disturb guests. Not a lot entertainment wise, especially during the day. Number of kids activities but little for adults. Each resort had some sort of adult entertainment in the evening and the theatre had something going on most nights but we didn't manage to site through a whole show. There is zero information in your room, everything you need is on the app which would be fine if the wifi worked in your room, if you haven't got a mobile data roaming plan you have to go to one of the common areas to get wifi. The TUI rep said the problem was Dominican Republic internet service in general which was clearly tosh. Our Junior suite room was spacious, would a been nice to have a kettle in the room, had to use the coffee machine to boil water for tea. Plenty of cupboard space, free safe, complimentary umbrella, AC worked well but remember to fully close the balcony door or it won't work. Make sure you take mosquito repellent, staff do spay the resort however if you don't have repellent spray you're going to get bitten....badly. We enjoyed our stay, got a good deal for 10 days with First Choice however it won't be one for a repeat visit.

    Not enjoyable vacation.

We stayed at Bahia Principe Punta Cana for 1 week, and we are happy to be back home. We liked the people in the Dominican Republic. The staff at the resort is doing its job. If you are friendly to them, they are friendly to you. If you prefer to stay quiet, they don't bother you. Overall service provided was OK. The room was outdated but clean. The bathroom doesn't have ventilation. A lot of water was coming to the floor during the shower as there are no curtains. The buffet has a lot of variety of foods, but the quality of the food is not really good. We all got sick from it one by one. We brought some medicine just in case and ended up using it all just to get us through the week. Our food options were reducing day by day as our stomach couldn't digest most of the food they have. Not sure if it was related to the food itself or the cleanliness of the places (plates, forks, spoons, etc.). The meats had a lot of salt in them. Not sure if it's Dominican style... My wife likes salty food, but even for her, it was too much salt for cooked meats. Hamburgers at the beach truck place are the worst!!! A La Carte food experience was not tasty as well. The beach also was not as expected for the Dominican Republic. The water was a mix of grey sand with some kind of sea sticks. This was our experience. But we see some people are happy and enjoyed their stay.
