Hotel advisories

Advisory The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter. They usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday and run a few days past Easter Sunday. The following regulations may be enforced: -Motorized water sports may be banned -Non-motorized water sports may be limited or banned -Alcohol consumption may be restricted (most resorts get a permit enabling them to serve alcohol to nonnative people during the ban) -Music may be limited or silenced
Advisory The hotel will go under Renovations. These new rooms complement those renovated last year and will be available starting November 2024. It is important to note that the renovation works will be properly delimited and will not interfere with the operation of the common areas and services of the rest of the resort. All work will be carried out daily (Monday to Sunday) between 8 am and 6 pm. Any work generating noise will be conducted only after 9 am.

    Not enjoyable vacation.

    We stayed at Bahia Principe Punta Cana for 1 week, and we are happy to be back home. We liked the people in the Dominican Republic. The staff at the resort is doing its job. If you are friendly to them, they are friendly to you. If you prefer to stay quiet, they don't bother you. Overall service provided was OK. The room was outdated but clean. The bathroom doesn't have ventilation. A lot of water was coming to the floor during the shower as there are no curtains. The buffet has a lot of variety of foods, but the quality of the food is not really good. We all got sick from it one by one. We brought some medicine just in case and ended up using it all just to get us through the week. Our food options were reducing day by day as our stomach couldn't digest most of the food they have. Not sure if it was related to the food itself or the cleanliness of the places (plates, forks, spoons, etc.). The meats had a lot of salt in them. Not sure if it's Dominican style... My wife likes salty food, but even for her, it was too much salt for cooked meats. Hamburgers at the beach truck place are the worst!!! A La Carte food experience was not tasty as well. The beach also was not as expected for the Dominican Republic. The water was a mix of grey sand with some kind of sea sticks. This was our experience. But we see some people are happy and enjoyed their stay.

    Not Recommended for Vegans

    Let me start with the Pros: The room was nice and had a great view of the poolside and water. The foam party and DJ were awesome. I loved my Tour guide "Frazer_tours". I would highly recommend him at the hotel. I was on the Adult side but I would recommend going to the other side for a little more entertainment. Cons: So we went there because they said that they catered to all food allergies including (Vegans). Nothing about this place says vegan-friendly. Every day I asked for the Chef to take me around to point out what I could eat. Some took it upon themselves to show me and showed me everything I couldn't eat. As it always turned out, at each new restaurant there was nothing I could eat. The Chefs would ask me what I wanted. The first day, started out ok as I was able to eat my food with my family, but I was told they had vegan apple pie and I was soooooo excited until they came back with the dessert. Please see the attached "Apple pie" that changed to a slice of pear on a cracker! SMDH, Unbelieveable. WTH is this? Ok, moving on and leaving this night behind me. Almost every chef I spoke to to help me choose what I can eat, I questioned their experience as a chef. For instance, among all the chefs there, someone either pointed out food that had butter/milk in, it or took me to food that was gluten-free, not dairy-free. I asked one chef, "Are you a Chef?" because you would clearly know that butter has milk in it. Another day they brought food out to the pool, Taco Day, and as usual there was nothing I could eat....no problem. I went to the restaurant by the pool that sent the food out. I asked if I could possibly get some beans to eat with the Tacos at the pool...but they had no beans. I was also told I could NOT bring food outside the restaurant. So I asked, "Why can't you bring the Vegan food out like you did for Meat eaters so I can get it the same way they did???? So you're saying I have to eat alone in here while my family eats at the pool?" I won this argument. I suggested scrambling some tofu for meat, but she said she would bring out some lentils with corn tortillas...ok cool. Again, I was promised one thing, and here comes something else. A plate with large chunks of tofu, sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers and lettuce. WTH? What kind of plate is this? What happened to the corn tortilla and lentils...it is Taco Day, right? So every day was disappointing as I had to wait for the chef to whip me up something that I had to specifically give directions for as if they never made vegan food. It was not very tasty indicating that they don't know how to cook for vegans as they said they do. I suggested having basic food on the counters for vegans to eat to be creative with their food such as rice, potatoes, and corn. ALL the rice was laced with butter. The refried bean was laced with butter or pork...basic food was not eatable. So all the while, I had to watch my family eat waiting on my low grade food and then they had to watch me eat alone. I promise you, this hotel made me feel like I was the first Vegan that ever ate there. The customer service guy who walked around asking about your experience was not helpful. He would say he would do things to assist but was very useless and lied often about helping. The alcoholic drinks were not also bad and watered down. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.

    Disappointed with front desk

    Front desk staff were pretty rude and arrogant, very reluctant to answer questions special this gentleman name Wilson not everyone was rude but most of the males employees in the front desk have an attitude. I have stayed in the Bahia hotels four time but this is the first time some staff members in the front desk have attitude. So my next vacation in Punta Cana. I will look for different choices. But . I want to mention food it was very good and fresh all day long staff in the restaurant were amazing very good service and a la cart restaurant were great excellent service.

    They just want to scam you for more money

    Me and my grown son along with his friend and mother booked the Grand Punta Cana. 10 days before I emailed them expressing I need the 2 rooms with 2 beds in each. Upon arrival of course they only have king rooms. I said that won’t do. We were forced to pay $500 to upgrade to the Esmeralda (which is way better). As I simmered on this for a few days I went to speak with guest services (wonderful man) where he totally agreed with me and said he wouldn’t sleep with his mother either in a king bed. He went to get the manager and of course it was the same one that would not accommodate us unless we paid for the upgrade. I explained again to him it is not right for a 57 year old woman to sleep in a bed with their 22 year old son. His response was “I would sleep with my mother”. I asked for a refund and he said no. I even emailed customer service and they stated no refund either. This is not the way to keep customers coming back. They are very rude especially when they have you backed into a corner. Do not go there.

    Epic Adventure

    My 10-day stay at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana with my family, consisting of Wife, Husband, and two daughters aged 21 and 12, was a truly memorable journey filled with precious moments that we will never forget. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality that made us feel like part of the Bahia Principe family. What impressed us the most during our stay was the genuine and incomparable LOVE of the people who work at this resort. Every staff member not only performed their role with excellence but also welcomed us with warm smiles and impeccable attention. They treated us not just as guests but as beloved members of their own family. We want to express our immense gratitude to the following staff members who made our stay truly special: • Willian, the front desk manager, who ensured that our arrival and departure were smooth and pleasant. • Héctor, at the reception, who always attended to us with a smile and readiness. • Soranyi Castillo, from Guest Service, who took care of all our needs with a personal touch, treating us like her own family. She was outstanding in every way: super intelligent, kind, gentle, and polite. • Angela, from Guest Service, who did everything to make us feel welcome, always beautiful inside and out. • Dayse, from housekeeping, who kept our rooms impeccable and comfortable. She was wonderful, always smiling, and we loved having her around. With a smile always on his face, he prepared the birthday table for my husband and our farewell. A perfect 10! He treated us like family. The best! • Emanuel, the manager of the entire breakfast team. Wonderful, always attentive, super pleasant, and always checking to see if we were well. Smile always on his face. A perfect 10! • Fernanda, who served us during dinner with a welcoming smile and champagne, preparing a beautiful birthday table for my husband. Each of these people contributed uniquely to making our stay extraordinary. From the delicious meals at the various restaurants to the exciting daytime and nighttime activities, each moment was a celebration of love, joy, and family unity. The natural juice girls, who were pregnant and lovely, prepared each delicious juice exactly as I requested and even helped me with a trip to the bathroom, fetching prunes just for me. The two omelet guys, Rafael and another whose name I can’t remember, treated me like family and made exceptional omelets. I can’t forget the golf cart drivers, who took us wherever we wanted with great enthusiasm, especially Alexander, the most lively one. There was another charming driver whose name I can’t recall, who always took us everywhere. Overall, everyone was special! Unfortunately, I don’t have the names of all the people who attended to us, but what mattered most was how each of you treated us with so much love, care, and respect. Regardless of how things are at home, you never took the smile off your faces and always made us smile and feel happy. A perfect 100000 for everyone working in this place, without exception. Dominicans, Haitians, no matter the nationality, age, color, race, or language, everyone is always dedicated to making us happy. The spacious and luxurious accommodations provided a tranquil refuge for our family as we explored the natural beauty and exceptional amenities of this tropical paradise. The beautiful beaches, crystal-clear pools, and lush gardens created an idyllic setting for our precious moments together. If I could give a rating, it would be 1000000, not only for the stunning beauty of this resort but primarily for the LOVE and dedication of the team in creating a truly unforgettable experience for our family. Every team member contributed to making our stay extraordinary and memorable in a way that we will never forget. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for making our stay such a special and meaningful experience. You not only provided us with incredible vacations but also gave us memories that we will treasure forever. We look forward to returning soon. Pro tips: - Learn key Spanish and aFreanch Creole phrases for requests, questions, and greetings...it will make your stay amazing... - You can literally walk the beach and find your pristine perfect spot - Bring Mosquito spray with you always. - Get Uber pick ups outside the property gate, nearly half the price. - Buffett is better then the restaurants, more relaxed, come and go, get what you want, no specific schedule, more service. All service friendly (Spanish helps a lot) - Treat staff with Honey not Vinegar, always returns sweeter.
