Fabulous family vacation
The Aulani was totally worth the hype and the perfect place to take our family. It's beautifully done with the level of quality and service you expect from Disney. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, with fabulous daily housekeeping. There is lots to do at the resort and the pools are great. I wish they had been a little bit warmer but I imagine they feel just right in the summer when it is over 85 degrees out. The food was overpriced but delicious. It would have been nice to have a few more vegetarian options available. It seems there are a lot of Disney Vacation Club members and regulars that come here and book things way in advance so reservations are really hard to come by. We didn't get to utilize Aunties beach house (kids club) for our kids as we could only get one time slot for an hour and a half on our last day. The kids club is included but you do have to pay $18 for a special tracking wristband for each child, which is fine if your kids are going multiple times but didn't seem worth it for us. My 4 year old loved doing the Menehune adventure trail scavenger hunt and both kids adored all the treats available. The pool chairs fill up early so you have to get out there at least 30 minutes before opening if you want a spot. The location is great and that part of the Island seems to have nicer weather. The cove was the perfect beach to play in and we took advantage of the free sand toys and boogie boards.
This place takes care of you from the moment you arrive until the day you leave. Our family stayed Aulani resort November 13th. The entire staff were very friendly and hospitable. We arrived around 1pm, our room was not ready but we were able to enjoy the pool. The person that made our stay most enjoyable is Naoto at the pool. He was truly an expert in hospitality and went above and beyond. Also young lady who was at the front desk also recognized my husband’s Birthday and gave him Happy Birthday tag which was good gesture for the guest. Our one bedroom villa equipped full kitchenettes, washer and dryer with laundry detergent. This resort is perfect place for the family vacation.
Letting down the Loyalists
This was our 3rd time visiting Aulani as DVC members. 1st time in 7 years. We were pretty disappointed by a lot of things, namely if you didn’t plan your vacation to the minute 6 months ago, good luck getting in anywhere. Our girls couldn’t do any of the activities until our last night. Pretty disappointed. We just don’t go on vacation to be on a schedule the entire time. And sure didn’t think to use the kids club we’d have to pick a time slot months in advance. You’d think Disney would have adequate staff to handle the kids on site. They used to have an open game area, that’s now a scheduled activity room only. I know it’s Disney and expensive, but they’ve gone overboard with the nickel and diming and costs for everything are brutal, even for Disney and Hawaii standards. Pools are very nice, but kids get yelled at for everything. Playing with dive toys? Seriously? Food and drink on site is less than great. And as stated, way overpriced. There are very limited options nearby. If you want anything after 9:30, you won’t find much here to do. We asked for a late check out, and were denied. Which is understandable, but they have a lounge that you have to line up for at 6 AM to use if you have a late flight. (Don’t most people have late flights leaving HNL?) So if you don’t get up at Dawn to be fortunate enough to get access to the lounge, you’ve got no way to clean up for a 7 pm flight. This lounge used to just be open to all, like it should be. The rooms are great, we had a 3 BR villa with a great view. Beds were amazing. The staff is awesome and friendly. Overall, we were pretty let down. Enough that we have discussed selling our DVC contracts. We’re seeing less and less reason to support Disneys gouging of loyal customers across the spectrum.
Amazing place to stay.
Aulani Disney Hotel is one of the best Clean very well maintained hotel in Hawaii. This is our third time going there with our family. It’s absolutely kid’s friendly environment and experience. They’ve beautiful pools and a private beach. We’re definitely going back there. The only complaint I have is their foods. Unfortunately, their foods are not up to par, it could be way much better specially when they’re charging sky high prices for like frozen Chicken Tenders. My Recommendation is planning to buy your food from outside vendors.
Clean property, friendly staff; food was atrocious
The sushi from the Olelo room was pretty good but aside from that food was very disappointing. One example is the crab cake BLT from Off the hook. I’m someone who loves crab cakes and I could not eat more than one bite. Lazy river, beach, and pools were enjoyable. Hard to get a poolside chair unless you go down at 730 - 8 am and reserve your seat with a towel
