KA WA‘A, a Lu‘au at Aulani Resort:

Aloha ‘Auinala! As the sun dips into the ocean to end the day, a conch shell is blown in the distance and a Hawaiian oli chant begins. This is the tradition of welcoming our Guests to KA WA‘A, a Lu‘au at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa which Guests will soon be able to experience once again!

Set under the stars on the beautiful Halawai Lawn, KA WA‘A immerses you in the live music, traditional dance, and ancient stories of Hawai‘i through Disney’s signature entertainment.  Prior to the show, Guests are encouraged to participate in family activities that are now enjoyed from the comfort of their own table. The activity demonstrations include flower arranging and poi pounding, a process in which Taro root is ground to create poi -- a food that is a staple of the ancient Hawaiian diet.

The lu‘au features a three-course plated meal that includes mouth-watering island favorites such as ahi poke and lomilomi salmon salad, imu-style braised pork, island fish, teriyaki chicken, local seasonal vegetables, and a dessert trio. To accompany the meal, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are included in the event price.

After dinner, Guests are treated to an enchanting journey through Hawaiian history and discover its deep cultural roots in canoe (wa‘a) exploration, which brought the first explorers to the shores of Ko Olina. Throughout the evening, lively music and traditional Hawaiian dance vividly bring the show’s story to life.

The lu‘au is offered three nights per week, weather permitting. Reservations can be made online, or by calling (844) 284-7644.

Aulauni is pretty cool but dont get the 3 bedroom villa during summer

We all know both Hawaii and Disney are expesive but the “Disney queue” system kinda bothered me on Hawaiin time if that makes any sense. Id give it a 4/5 if this was the only problem but we paid a fortune for a 3 bedrooom Villa and the air conditining was not sufficient in the “Primary” I tried to fall asleep in about 74-75 degrees and just couldnt so called engineering the 1st night. He explained that the 3 bedroom was not “ducted” properly. I said, look it Hawaii, I get it, can I get a fan ? No sir, we dont have any. “So the hotel has no solution to our Master Suite being 74 degrees while set at 68 and all other bedrooms properly ?”. “No, we apologize”. I Uber’d to Target to the next day and bought a high speed for $59.9 but really Disney ? We have large family and asides the AC, the space worked great for us, but how could possible return after that? The 2 main reataurants are tasty but small and expensive portions luke the cruises and Deluxe Orlando and Cali hotels. Food overall was 4/5. Hotel 4/5. Room and Cust Service pertaining to 2/5.

    So Much to Do!

We booked a pool-view, one-bedroom suite that slept 5. The room was beautiful and spotless! Disney never disappoints in this area! The resort offered a plethora of activities, including incredible pools, beach rentals, and a lazy river. I just thought the price, as compared to other Disney Resorts and Hawaiian resorts, was way overpriced! This was. A girls' trip (my daughters, one of their friends, and one of mine). The resort provides a flower clip for your hair. There were three clips in the room, and I asked for two more, which weren't provided. For the price we paid, we should have had leis and flowers for the 5 of us!

First class accommodations and a beautiful view. We loved everything from the restaurants to the secluded beach.

We had a wonderful trip to the Aulani. The accommodations were first class. We loved sitting on the beach and swimming in the ocean. The pool, lazy river and slides were a lot of fun. We appreciated the private adult pool and hot tub with a gorgeous view. All the restaurants were delicious. We ate at almost everyone. I think the most fun was sitting on the beach, ordering lunch and eating there. We had no problems finding seats at the beach or at the pool. When you ask questions, everyone w as very accommodating. Our plane didn’t leave until the evening so they invited us to stay in their lounge until our shuttle got there. And did I mention the spa? It was out of this world. So beautiful with different hot tubs and saunas and Iloved my facial. It was truly a dream of vacation.

    Awful Experience

We wanted to love this trip since it was our first to Hawaii and what better way to experience it than with Disney. We love the parks and expected the Hawaii resort to be every bit as magical. We were wrong. Our first issue was when we tried to book an excursion through the Aulani app. My daughter wanted to take the "Pua's 'Ahiu Wild Boar Offroad Expedition" which we successfully booked through the app... or so we thought. 20 minutes after receiving the "confirmation" email from Disney, we received a call from someone at Aulani stating that a mistake had been made and the experience was fully booked. She then suggested a similar ATV experience which we agreed to, though with slightly less enthusiasm than the one we originally wanted. Despite Disney and Aulani having the age of my daughter on file, we go⁹⁹t to the end of a long series of disclosures only to be told that, at age 16, she was too young to participate. The Aulani rep was apologetic but unable to offer anything else similar. We also attempted to reserve a spot for the Luau well before our arrival. No luck. Booked out "months in advance" as we were told. Upon our arrival, we set out to get some seats by the pool for the day. Despite being at the pool at 7:30am, there was not a seat to be had as they were all "claimed" by phantom guests who apparently dropped towels on the back to reserve the seats. Disney purports to have a policy on this whereby they will remove the towel after an hour of vacancy, but this was never enforced. I can only guess that the towels were set out the day before as we saw a lot of towels, but very few guests in the seats. Overall, the property is beautiful but poorly run. This is not the Disney you're used to. Staff was not particularly friendly. Several times we heard employees complaining to one another in passing (work schedule, guest interactions, etc.). We were also surprised by how dirty the pool areas were (we even saw a dirty swim diaper tossed to the side of a walkway next to one of the pools). While I know there is little that can be done to prevent guests from doing these things, in the Florida Disney resorts, trash would not be allowed to pile up on walkways. Perhaps with some changes in leadership, Aulani will live up to the Disney brand,. Unfortunately, as it stands now, it does not.

    Aulani Resort-Underwater Explorer Program

Our family just returned from a week stay at Aulani, while our family enjoyed the waterslides and the lazy river and spending time on the beach as well as the meals there. Our children greatly enjoyed the underwater explorers program that they offered at the rainbow reef Lagoon. This was a discovery Scuba class that was run by Dive Instructor Nicholas, as well as dive master Troy. The instructions were very well detailed and underwater experience and training was excellent.
