    Exceptional All Inclusive Hotel

I have just returned back from a 10 night stay with my partner at the Hilton Cancun in late June and our stay was amazing and would certainly return. Food EVENING - The food at the hotel was excellent, we dined in each of the a la carte restaurants twice for dinner and the food was never repetitive. The steaks in the Auma were cooked to perfection, tender and tasty and the Mexican restaurant offered traditional Mexican cuisine not only the typical tacos but fillet mignon and a traditional slow cooked lamb shoulder which was exceptional and restaurants certainly matched the experience of eating at nice high end restaurants back home. The waiting staff were fantastic and so enthusiastic offering us shots of tequila and were very helpful, unfortunately I cannot remember their names but all waiters were brilliant. LUNCH - During the day we also tried the burger and taco stalls by the chill out pool which were also amazing and the ladies working there were fantastic. Lunch at the Asian was also delicious with authentic Asian dishes, a fantastic bar and picturesque views overlooking the beach. BREAKFAST - At breakfast we often ate at the main restaurant although the Mexican and Italian are also open in the mornings. The freshly made omelettes with your own toppings were my favourite and they chefs began to know my orders before I told them as I was going almost every day. The hash browns also deserve a special mention as they were the best I had ever had!!! Reymondo was our waiter at breakfast on multiple occasions and deserves a special mention however all staff in the whole hotel were fantastic and anything we needed or asked for throughout our whole stay was provided for almost immediately every time from drinks to minibar refills. Rooms Rooms were modern and extremely spacious (we had 2 queen beds despite being a couple) and exceptionally clean, we had the view of the mangrove forest which was very beautiful. Mini bar was fantastic and stocked with both alcoholic and soft drinks daily. Our only issue was that the AC too was cold and despite setting it to our desired temperature it would drop below that regardless. The shower was excellent, safe and hair dryer the hotel provided basically everything you would expect from a 5 star resort. Bar and Drinks The drinks were exceptional as good as drinks you would get in high end bars back home. The hotel uses premium branded spirits on request such as Don Julio Tequila, Tanqueray Gin, Belvedere Vodka and the cocktails were fantastic and the beers on offer included Dos Equis, Tecate original, Tecate Light, Coors Light and Bohemia. The bars we used included the Asian restaurant bar, the Mexican Restaurant Bar, the Lobby bar and The pool bar and the drinks were consistently good. Special mention to Carlos who was in the main bar in the evenings he would make any drink we requested including a brilliant mango martini that I regularly ordered and would always go out of his way to ensure that all drinks were served in the correct Glassware even if this meant going to another bar to quickly find a martini glass which was a brilliant touch that he did not need to do however certainly made the cocktails seem more presentable and enjoyable. Round the pool and in the lobby bar waiters also come round taking orders as well. Gym I used the gym on 5/6 occasions throughout my stay, the facilities were all brand new and well maintained and had a variety of machines and weights to use. Things to do During our stay 4 of the days were stormy so we spent these at the lobby bar having some drinks and watching the sport on TV - There was live sport on in the lobby bar every day which was brilliant especially in the evening and days when the weather was bad - Concierge would also put on any sports you requested. We would spend most days chilling out at the chilled pool and we also hired a Kayak by the Asian Restaurant for $5 per person. In the main pool there were regular activity's for all ages every day. The day we left they were setting up a tiki bar, DJ set, cerviche stand at the chilled pool for a pool party which we unfortunately missed as we had to leave. Last but not least we also booked a boat trip to isla mujeres through the hotel which I 100% recommend the boat took 1hr30mins to the island included all soft and alcoholic drinks and allowed time to snorkell in the nature reserve off the coast. The island itself was beautiful with crystal clear blue water with no seaweed, sandy beaches and so many beach bars and restaurants, meanwhile more in land the streets are very traditional and buildings are very colourful and we will go back again next time we visit Cancun, we booked this in the Tourist shop in the hotel for $91 each which included return coach transfers to the harbour all drinks including cocktails, beers and tequila tasting on the way back and 3 hours to explore the island. Drawbacks The very few negative things worth mentioning would be the shop prices due to the hotel being quite remote (a pack of playing cards were $20 and a small cheap ball was some how $30), the AC as previously mentioned (we managed this and did not complain to reception), on a few occasions our mini bar was not restocked however I spoke to reception and they sent someone up to restock within 15mins of me asking at reception. In conclusion it was a fantastic holiday made particularly special by the quality of this hotel, its staff and its facilities. The quality of the food and drink in particular was a highlight and I would 100% return to the Hilton Cancun.

    Auma restaurant & server German

The auma restaurant is the best place to eat. Our server German , Was an amazing amazing amazing server! The service was top tier! We will be back tomorrow. The baked potato was so good the clam chowder was good and the salad! Everything was good but the best apart was the service! Hopefully we get German as a server again.

Good service but the rest needs work

Every staff member was very helpful and were all trying hard to make our experience as nice as possible. We had read all of the tips (book reservations early and ahead of time, reserve your pool chairs as soon as you can) and since we were traveling with a baby we mostly ate early before any of the big rushes. As nice as everyone was, the resort did not leave us with a good impression. The Kid's Corner was probably the best most consistent experience, with friendly engaging staff and plenty of varied activities. The bar staff were very accommodating (at any of the bars) and offered great suggestions. My favorite food experiences were the Mexican restaurant and the taqueria/cevicheria. The Italian restaurant and steakhouse were fine but my wife got sick after eating, possibly from the Caesar salad at the steakhouse but it was impossible to tell exactly from where. The breakfast buffet was fine - for some reason there was only a smoothie station for one out of the 7 days we were there. Lunch and dinner buffet were disappointing due to obvious cost cutting measures and odd food selections that went mostly uneaten for entire meal periods (e.g., various composed salads that sat untouched). The property offers a strong first impression; the design is striking. Upon further inspection you can see that there are a lot of small issues with the finishes. Room numbers are missing, signs are missing letters, walls have scuffs and damage from room carts and luggage, etc. Also the pools are missing tiles because guests pick them off, the splash pad has worn areas that are literally covered with rubber mats, and the various chairs in rooms and restaurants have stains that look old. The high chairs are in serious disrepair at the Italian and Mexican restaurants and the crib we were given wasn't even properly assembled (two wood joints were disconnected). The room ac worked as hard as it could but sometimes the floor was wet. The kids pool and splash pad were closed a lot of the time we were there due to weather or "hygiene issues" - that may not be under their control but be prepared for that. Given the location and the price we paid, we expected more from a Hilton branded property. There are too many shortcuts taken in the name of "high volume" and "we're such a busy resort" but it didn't look fully occupied when we were there. I do not believe we will return since we've had more consistent experiences at other Cancun properties for the last 20 years. Perhaps the membership/timeshare model is necessary in order to keep up with the overwhelming necessary maintenance.
