    Love this hotel!!!

This hotel is across the street from Waikiki Beach and there are no other hotels blocking it's view. We had room 819 in the Kealohilani Tower (the tower closest to the Beach). It has a balcony with an absolutely amazing view. The room was great, spacious and well decorated. The one negative of the room is the bathroom door is not solid but with frosted glass. So any time someone went to the bathroom in the night time the whole room lit up with light. The room had problems with the cable each night. We called the front desk 2 times. Same story both times that they are renovating. Lots of Activities at the hotel each day and they give you a schedule when you check in. They also have two pools, an adult one and a family one. There are plenty of food options in and nearby the hotel. We ate the breakfast buffet at the Kuhio Beach Grill. It was pricey at $48 per person. We also tried the Queensbreak and it was good! The property also has 2 Starbuck locations, 2 ABC stores, and other small shops. We would absolutely stay here again!

    Never disappoints

I have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years. Without a doubt one of the best Marriott properties in Oahu and definitely manned with a top notch team. Specifically, Nanea Tialigo from the customer support team goes above and beyond to ensure the customers experience is just as fantastic as the beautiful island you are visiting. Worth ever penny to stay here.

All I wanted was a 1 PM late checkout...

My recent stay at the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel (5/20/23) left me with a sense of disappointment and frustration. As a local resident, I was hopeful that this hotel would understand and appreciate the importance of supporting the local community. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. One particular issue that stood out was the hotel's policy of charging for late checkout, even for local residents. Given that local support is crucial for businesses, I expected the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel to extend a more accommodating and understanding approach. However, their insistence on charging for late checkout, without any consideration for local residents, left me feeling undervalued and unappreciated. As a loyal customer and a Elite Bonvoy Member, I believe it is essential for businesses to prioritize building positive relationships with residents. Imposing additional fees for late checkout, regardless of our contribution to the local economy, felt like a missed opportunity for the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel to foster goodwill and establish stronger connections with the community it serves. Moreover, this policy contradicts the concept of hospitality that hotels are known for. Instead of creating a welcoming and accommodating environment, the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel's approach to late checkout seems more focused on maximizing profits rather than valuing the needs and support of its local clientele. I sincerely hope that the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel reevaluates its policies, particularly in relation to local residents. By embracing a more inclusive and community-oriented mindset, they can foster stronger bonds, inspire loyalty, and create an environment where all guests feel genuinely appreciated and valued. Overall, my experience at the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel was marred by their policy of charging for late checkout, even for local residents. It is my hope that they take this feedback into consideration and make the necessary changes to better serve their community and enhance the overall guest experience.

    Pre-Cruise Stay

My wife and I stayed at this property for three nights prior to our cruise. The location is excellent with the ocean directly across the street, several shops nearby (including many within the hotel complex itself), and countless restaurants. The check-in was quick and easy. We were offered an upgrade to a junior suite; however, it was two beds instead of one king bed. We declined the upgrade and opted to stick with our ocean front king room. Our room was on the 14th floor and while you could see the ocean from the room I would not consider it to be ocean front since we mostly had a view into the neighboring hotel. Our room was nice, but there were signs of wear and tear. A few areas of the carpet were starting to shred and there were multiple missing pieces of trim in the bathroom. Aside from those minor issues the room was clean and spacious. We enjoyed the large balcony and the large windows looking outside. The seafood/sushi restaurant located within the hotel was excellent. Prices were standard and the quality and quantity of food was superb. Service was also very good. We did utilize the Enterprise rental car facility on the first floor. Fortunately, we did not have to wait; however, we did see a long line outside the facility on multiple occasions. There is guest laundry on the second floor and we did take advantage of this prior to leaving on our cruise. We also took advantage of the onsite Starbucks for breakfast instead of paying for the hotel breakfast. Overall it was a good stay and nice facility. We would certainly stay at this property again when visiting Honolulu.

Good location but be careful around the pool

The resort is in a good location with great views, 2 small pools and one jacuzzi. the biggest criticism is the pool area, the entire area is paved with semi glossed tiles instead of porous pavers which are non slip. First day at the hotel I slipped and fell on the tiled area after getting out of the pool and crashed head first onto the tiled area hitting my head, almost passed out from the blow to my head. There was no lifeguard on duty but the security staff were quick on the scene with ice packs and called 911. The EMS were very busy but I started to feel better within about 20 minutes so security cancelled the ambulance. Thearea I slipped on was dry, the fact that I had just gotten out of the pool and walked on these tiles and fell shows that this was a very poor choice of materials to be used around a pool area. This is potentially dangerous and also a pending law suit should anyone be seriously injured. I had some swelling to my head and hopefully no permanent damage. The whole incident was caught on cctv. Security staff took down all my details and room number. I didn’t once hear from Hotel management to see how I was. This could have been a serious injury. Whoever authorised the surfacing of the pool area with these tiles should be fired. The area needs a non slip surface to replace these dangerous tiles. This incident nearly ruined the trip.
