Great resort for couples and family!
February 2023 My husband and I visited Jamaica for the first time and also tried a Bahia property for the first time. We were not disappointed! We loved everything about the resort - the staff were super friendly, the facilities were clean, the food was amazing, beaches and pools were great! From the lovely bartenders at the Dunns River Lobby bar (Rojer, Damien, and several others) to our daily servers at Jasmin & Las Olas, we never had a bad meal, cocktail or service. Everyone was smiles, all the time! Our daily mini-bar attendant, Lorrie, was always pleasant and ensured we had everything we needed each day of our stay. We had great servers at Rodizio (Shawn) and Picasso (Kavaun) who made our Valentine’s week extra special. We also had a very pleasant time learning about the Privilege Club with Keisha who was an absolute delight! Garrick (?) and the beach bar (NE point) was always ready to share stories about the island and give us tips for our visit. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. It’s a great resort for adults (18+ side) and very family-friendly on the all ages side, so you can get the best of both worlds. With their own excursions available on the resort and snorkel rentals for the coral, you really have no reason to leave this tropical paradise. We look forward to visiting the Luxury Runaway Bay resort again, and checking out more of the Bahia properties! Until next time ✌🏻

It was just okay. I won’t be going back.
Can’t disagree that the resort is beautiful…however the food was disgusting. I visited the same resort a few years ago but on the Grand side and I don’t remember the food being so poor. Food was too salty, overcooked and dry. Booked a reservation one night at the a la carte and the buffet part was leftovers from previous early dinner all dried out and just not appetizing at all. We had to beg for curry goat and oxtail before it showed up at the buffet. The Jamaican section at the buffet was skimpy and quite frankly I get better Jamaican food in Canada. One of our friends has a dairy allergy and one morning had to go without breakfast because the chef couldn’t be found. Beach was weedy and we asked one of the staffers to just rack up a few of the stones by the edge of the water…well that never happened. Rooms were beautiful…however they skimped on the toilet paper and we asked for Kleenex and it didn’t appear until well into our vacation. This place is a death trap when it rains….pool area and hallways open to the weather are extremely slippery that I had to do an obstacle course to find grass to walk on so I wouldn’t kill myself. They locked us out of our room twice. Once was 4 days before we were supposed to leave. For the most part the staff was friendly however when we were leaving and checking out at reception, the girl at reception made a snide remark that I didn’t particularly appreciate. There’s no getting past that the resort is beautiful and the rooms are lovely…but they have a long way to go to bring the food up to par.

Disappointed: rooms, service, food, Privilege Club
Overall disappointing as rooms, food, drinks and mainly the PrivilegeClub - it feels like a rip off, we didn't feel, see or experienced any extra perks as a member. My advice, don't commit to it. Experience Bahia Principe one vacation at a time if you want. At least we will not be committing to many dissapointments and lost money. Of course opinions are subjective, but facts are facts. 1. Rooms: as per staff, 7th floor gets hot fast, sometimes rain gets in AC or even in the rooms. Our room smelled like sewer, mentioned that, were told someone will come to " freshen up" the air. None came. Complained again and they fixed the AC from our room to 6 down. Some weird water was on the floor, but smell was gone. For a day. I need to mention that were heavy rains at times. And another thing, outlets next to the bed not working, were unable to fix first day and we suggestedan extension cord that they provided( never came back to fully fix). Some balconies are really small and no cover, so if it rains can't be used. "Garden view" is a joke, pretty much you look at roofs of some finished some unfinished houses, adjacent vegetation, dirt parking and main road with a lot of traffic even at night. One night power went out, they fixed it, next day safe didn't open, they opened it and I googled to fix it, and lastly on last evening door key did not work to let us in. I would recommend rooms closer to main lobby, to be close to restaurants, bars, entertainment.. Quite a walk from 26 ,27, and if it rains, very dangerous on open passages between buildings. 2. Privilege Club: we signed with them in a previous vacation in Punta Cana. Quite a bit for the privileges to be in Privilege Club. We got a Certificate for a free stay with that, so we decided to test the program. We were told that due to that we'll get a garden view room. Guess what? See above. Worst room ever. One night even the power went out just in our section of the building. All we got here as Privilege Club membership was top shelf beer in they small lounge on the west of the lobby and at the Privilege Club beach bar that is located with grand bahia resort ( read family with small kids) at the opposite end from luxury adults only. Otherwise you can get top shelf drinks at the main bar if you ask for it. No other perks, only the butler asking us constantly if our stay is pleasant. After a while we just said everything was perfect just to left alone. Door key incident we were sent to reception, went to Privilege Club membership office, got a sorry from the lady sitting at the desk and were sent to main reception. 3. Food.. not fantastic, decent spread in buffet ( jasmine and a bit less in las Olas ( beach). Two main flavors , jerk/spicy and flavorless, except for stews. Cold cuts I presume were frozen, then when thawed were spongy. 4. Drinks: can get top shelf at bars if you ask and tipping helps. Premium beer $4. Every day they lack ingredients, either mint, limes or both. 5. Restaurants: recommend Picasso ( cudos Christina- british accent), Rodizzio( cudos Andre, Gwayne - sorry if I butchered your name) try caipirinha with pasion fruit, my wife got addicted., Dolce Vita (forgot the name , maybe Jerold , although one other waiter was thirsty and tried a glass of wine while waiting for customers), Don Pablo( table service for chateubriant, good service by the waiter Ricardo). Average: Mikado, mainly the food, service better - Carlen?). Not recommended: Takara ( poor service, bad food- curry trio were two sauces with 3 meats one saltier then the other. The knife ( you needed two knives to cut the very tough meet, poor services from getting to the table to food to table).

Incredible overall experience - From Montreal
First off I must say, the staff are awesome adding to the overall experience. We asked for an ocean view and had a beautiful view of both the ocean and main pool and bar. The room was beautiful, large, bright and clean, housekeeping and butler service could not have been better. The swim up bar and main pool has daily entertainment which was welcoming and entertaining, always looked forward to our day at the pool ( Foam party was the best) The main bar and lobby served premium drinks while the entertainment we would have paid extra for it was so good, one night a violinist playing the latest hits, next night a saxophonist , icing on the cake. There about 6 restaurants + 2 buffets+ pop up bbq shacks, The Knife steakhouse a bit odd they brought all food at once, steak dinner ok, however next night best burger ever. Italian restaurant Dolce Vita great, on point . Don Pablo, fine dining was just ok, good but far from great. Rodizio, Brazilian meats was ok. Takara, Asian fusion, just wasn't our night, we got up and left as both our main courses of salmon and bitter sweet pork dish was way overcooked. We left and went to the buffet, look, its a buffet lots of food you will find something you like. PS the Jerk Chicken and Oxtail is always there and delicious. There is a small beach at the luxury hotel, take the shuttle to the main Grand hotel, it is an oasis, just beautiful with a boat anchored 20 yards out selling Lobster and Shrimp dinners magnificent. Our outing was the party boat and Dunn's River Falls which is an all day excursion but well worth it. Did I say staff were awesome, cant say it enough. The whole week just lived in the moment, didn,t worry about the kids, work, the house. Want to go back and bring friends and family to experience the same great time we has. Sorry, it was less that spectacular for others.
