Great location - but some issues to address.

Very beautiful hotel and beach bar area. The rocking chairs are a nice touch - when you can actually find an open one. The room was average size, but our lanai in the diamond wing was huge! Very comfortable furniture and an amazing view. The staff was very nice and the food was very good at the beach/pool bar. Unfortunately, the hotel is under construction, and the signage to find the registration area is non existent. Very frustrating to have to hunt down the registration desk after a long flight. While our balcony was terrific, it was filthy. There were dirty kleenexes on the floor and the furniture was dirty, which was not appealing. Housekeeping definitely needs to get some better training. The music entertainment in the lobby in the evening was really good and the location is perfect. You can walk to so much-restaurants, shopping, other hotels. If you want to get a chair by the pool - good luck. If you aren't out there very early, you have to troll around and wait for someone to leave. But, like many pools, sadly, people drop a towel and disappear for hours, which is so rude. Or, you can pay alot to sit on a chair in a small, sandy area, or pay even more for a cabana - but those were full everyday, so that wasn't an option. The pool area is not very spacious, so not alot of space for more chairs. The pool is just ok, a rectangle, nothing special. While there, it was full of unsupervised kids yelling and jumping in from the sides repeatedly. The staff never stepped in at all. I only got kicked and hit by one of them once, which wasn't bad, considering....the parents were close by but did nothing. The bell staff was great and very helpful getting taxis for us. I might stay there again just because of the location, but for the price, I would expect all of the room's areas to be very clean, for the pool staff to ensure all guests were able to enjoy the pool and for enough pool chairs for the guests who would like to enjoy the sunshine.

Excellent stay! Would definitely stay here again!

The Westin Moana surf Rider is a beautiful historic hotel that is perfectly situated on the Waikiki strip. All of our interactions with staff throughout our stay from the valet to the front desk and even housekeeping were extremely pleasant. Staff members were always friendly and courteous, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Though The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, it did not in any way affect our stay there. Not only is this hotel perfectly situated on the Waikiki strip to give guests easy and walkable access to all of the shops and entertainment, it is also right on the Waikiki Beach. It is also only a quick five minute walk from the blue note and Cirque du Soleil, which are to of the most popular venues for entertainment on the strip. The veranda offers a beautiful view of the beach along with a morning breakfast buffet and afternoon high tea. The pool side bar area is shaded by a giant banyan tree and is peaceful and relaxing to sit at. The beach is just steps away from the pool and bar area. The rooms are a little small and dated, however, this is to be expected of a historical hotel, and the rooms are still very well cleaned and up-kept and offer beautiful views of the beach or fun views of the strip. If you are looking for ultra modern and upgraded resorts, this is likely not the place for you, however, if you love beautiful and iconic historic buildings, you will absolutely love this hotel. Overall, this hotel gets top marks for looks, class, staff, amenities, and location. I will definitely be staying here again.

    Stay here!

Excellent stay if the beach and location are important to you. It’s the only property with its own beach access. Normally when I stay at a hotel I don’t find myself “engaged” that much with the staff. For various we seemed, to utilize the hospitality services. Everyone was amazing. We spent a significant amount of time at the bar for our meals and the staff there were awesome. Very attentive. I had a service issue that was entirety my fault and the front desk was quick to offer a resolution that went above and beyond my expectations. I mentioned something about extra lotion to room attendant and she went above and beyond when it was not expected. Towel service folks overly friendly too. Management knows what they are doing here and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Drinks can get pricy at $18 each but you’re on vacation, and it’s Hawaii . Killer breakfast buffet but a little pricey for breakfast. The view was amazing. Noise isn’t as much of a problem as people make it out to be, we were on street side but I just loved how quick you can get to the beach without navigating elevator wait times. Rooms are small but that’s to be expected for a historic property loaded in charm. I just loved sitting in the rocking chairs looking at the ocean. We had a late flight and I wanted a room to shower but wanted to redeem points. To accommodate my poi t balance, we stayed at the Sheraton directly across street for 6 hours. All I can say, while it was nice and clean, it was not the Westin! The elevator wait times there were highly frustrating. It met my needs but you don’t go from greatness to good. Kudos to management for a job well done at the Westin. We’ll be back!

    Very hectic but beautiful

This is a beautiful property but be prepared for it to be busy and noisy. Hardly any room at the beach on property and I would not call this a relaxing stay. Good location though to be able to walk to shopping and restaurants. Overall I would stay here again but be aware of how busy it will be

    SO Disappointing

We stayed 5 nights. We tried to change hotels upon checking in because the pool is closed. We did not receive notification about the closure because we booked through Expedia. Expedia was very helpful saying they would help us book elsewher, however none of the open hotels were as good of a location. We were offered a $50 per day discount. Really???!!! They would not upgrade our room, they would not allow is to go to pools within the ownership(Marriot)). Basically the staff at the front desk employees were SO rude! we chose this hotel based on our knowledge that Westin Hotels are in general great. I normally stay at the Kahala Resort. We did not because My friend wanted to stay downtown. LONG story short: even when they open up the pool, DO NOT STAY HERE! GO TO THE KAHALA RESORT. THEY ARE THE BEST
