    Unfortunate experience

I normally do not like to give bad reviews and to be honest it wasn't all bad. Everything was great! The staff was very nice. The food was delicious. The massage at the Spa AMAZING! The hotel itself was lovely. The only thing that was disappointing was a situation with the room. We were hit with the Tropical Storm during our stay. Lots of rain and very windy. Though we tried and made the best of it. We started noticing the ceiling had water stains and also some water leaking. We didn't want to make a huge deal about it and we just placed towels where the small puddle was. Until our 9 yr old notice more water behind the TV and by where our luggage were. We decided to report it and someone from maintenance came and took pictures. He said he will inform the hotel and someone will contact us to let us know what to do. Our Housekeeper also said she had taken pictures and notified the hotel before but no one had came or called us until we decided to do so. After maintenance came, no one called to follow-up. That night after going out to dinner and watching an amazing show, we returned to the room to find lots of water on the floor. Immediately we placed all the towels we had. We attempted to call the front desk and was not able to get through. It was pouring and windy outside we decided to just go to sleep. At that point we had only one night left and decided to just deal with the issue. Upon checking out I brought it up and also showed the video of the water in the room and the gentleman stated there was nothing documented. This I found odd because I told him I had called and maintenance was sent and that both he and the Housekeeper had stated they had notified the hotel of the situation. It was quite disappointing. We did not want to be those people to complain. We totally understand the weather is unpredictable and out of anyone's control. Our concern was the damage the leak in the room could have caused to our personal items or the TV etc... but the fact that no one took the time to make a courtesy call and follow up with us, that's upsetting. This experience was so unfortunate. Like I said we tried and made the best of it. Everything else was ok.

Nowhere near a 5 star Hotel

Currently into our second week of our holiday. They advertise this hotel as a 5 star hotel,it's actually a 3 star at best. The only pros I can make out are the staff. They are fantastic. Its a very dated resort that really needs a total upgrade. The buffet food has plenty of varied choice but it just not served hot.I actually think it's just light bulbs the foods under,it's certainly not heat lamps. And that goes for a la carte restaurants too.The Tequila a la carte was shocking. Its a buffet with cold food.Dont even bother wasting you're booking. The Cozumel Mexican restaurant in the Coba on the other hand was fantastic and well worth a visit. They only hot food we've had in a week and delicious. Bottom line is don't expect a 5 star resort although you will get that with the staff the resort is just too dated. On the plus side the shows are worth paying the small fee for.Excellent.The hotel REALLY needs to look into serving relatively hot food,I understand it's buffet but nothing is served hot.Gets very frustrating after a week with a week to go.Needs sorting quickly in my opinion.

TRIP RUINED - DOLPHIN Captivity. Tiny chlorinated pools with bred dolphins.Do not visit Bahia to support the end of this

Stayed in the hotel June 24 and my trip experience was ruined because there had been no advertisement of the captive dolphins within the hotel grounds, at Dolphinaris/BAHIA TULUM. 3 dolphins bred in captivity and used daily for money! Shame on BAHIA and anybody who visits Dolphinaris. Held in a tiny 'chlorinated' swimming pool (way too small to swim), with no shade (causing sunburn), no enrichment toys, the dolphins are starved and made to work for their food. There is a 10:30 show every day to the public and the rest of the time is spent making money off them. The show is quick as there is nowhere for them to swim in the tiny pool. The entertainment staff take guests to see / support this on the bike tour, and its promoted by all guest services. Unfortunately the guests are told they are rescue dolphins. This is not true, they are bred and exploited for entertainment. A law in Mexico prohibits dolphins being taken from the wild. A hotel making money off these poor dolphins in the smallest pool on property and misleading guests. Dolphinaris prohibits images being taken within the grounds unless paid for, at an extortionate price. This is to control the images taken (As well as make money) at the poor dolphins expense. Addressed my concerns with the hotel staff and they did not seem to care. They advised it isnt anything to do with them, yet the hotel is actively promoting it and it is within Bahia grounds. Dolphins should swim 100 miles a day in their own habitat. This is inhumane, animal abuse and an embarrassment. Poor creatures can live 28 years. 28 years in this tiny pool, performing every day, and swimming with guests who do not have enough knowledge or decency to stop funding it. SHAME ON YOU BAHIA / Dolphinaris and shame on any person who pays to see this or swim with them (literally funding their abuse). No mother/ father/ parent / relation / friend should take their child to this show. It is sad to see the conditions the dolphins are kept in. Please support the end of this, by not visiting. There are boat trips where you can see dolphins in the wild. Please consider other hotels as alternatives for this reason. My trip ended and its very sad to know those poor creatures are still stuck in the incredibly tiny, hot pool working daily for their food. If you look into this hotel on google, you will see various articles on this particular hotel having the smallest and worst facilities. This should not be happening, PERIOD! There is nothing they can do, except work for their food. The hotel pools were SO WARM and they are stuck in that every day - MADNESS! Rooms - 3 star (not 5 star) Entertainment staff - cannot fault them, they work hard. Food - Al A Cart restaurants - BAD. Cancelled them all after we tried 3. Tried Alux, Maiko and La Tortuga. Alcohol - Watered down. Evening shows - Good but do not pay for the other ones. Not worth it. Blackbird was awful. Please please visit a hotel that doesnt support animal abuse. Please DO NOT visit the dolphin show at the very least. If nobody pays for it, the dolphins will not continue to be bred and exploited. Please go to another hotel. BAHIA is not worth it.
