Relax is the motto to describe this hotel.

One of the most relaxing hotels we have stayed. It it about 20 min drive from CUN airport, so no long commute. Upon arrival at the hotel the staff is very welcoming and make you feel like you just arrived home. Enrique was the first staff person we met and he went above and beyond, immediately learned our names and gave us a tour around the hotel and drove us to our room, and treated us like family. The room we stayed "Portofino" was amazing, super spacious, ocean views, terraza with a plunge pool, the bathroom is huge, we loved the smell of the shampoo and soaps. The highlight was the mattress, my husband always complains about his lack of sleep due to the mattresses were we stay but this time he slept like a baby, we wanted to steal it and take it home lol. Food is delicious and unique, I would only recommend adding more items to the menu. What we loved about the hotel is that is not huge like many other all inclusives, it is not noisy and crowded, it rather is peaceful and low key, definitely not a party type hotel, we usually go to adult only places, we were a bot hesitant but, although is not an adult only, we didn't see many kids and the ones we saw, were honestly well put together so no issues there. It is a hotel that invites for a time to decompress, relax, sleep and recharge. We took a catamaran tour to a sand bar from their marina and it was incredible, we didn't have to leave the hotel. Overall, it is a great hotel to stay.

Thank you for a Perfect Anniversary Stay

We chose this hotel for our anniversary and we're so glad we did! I wish I had a better memory for names to properly thank everyone who helped make it special. Lilia [Hope I spelled that correctly!] was our maid and she was an absolute gem. She took the best care of us and we loved how she decorated the room for our anniversary. William and Viktor in the Hippo's pool bar were so helpful with questions and always made certain we had snacks and drinks we loved every afternoon. The pool bar waiters were so excellent. Never had an empty glass as long as we were at the pool. The sushi bar was a great place for a snack or lunch. Dragon was a truly memorable experience and we're so glad we chose it for our anniversary celebration dinner. The fellow who did the crepes suzette really made a wonderful production of it, which we loved, and I am so sad I didn't get his name to put in this review so he gets the recognition he deserves. The same for the lovely waitress in Kaax who wore the lovely face makeup and jewels for Día de Muertos which fell during our stay. She was so gracious and helped us out so much with our plans to visit Puerto Morelos for a few hours. Lastly, there was a giant of a man who was at the front gate quite a bit. He was so good to help us out with any questions or needs. Definitely a gem who deserves recognition and I never remembered to get his name. I hope that management reads reviews here because I definitely want to thank them for the Día de Muertos celebrations. We had such a wonderful time and will definitely be returning.

    Going through a transition.

The resort is currently nothing like it has been in the past, so any reviews less than even two weeks old are likely out of date and inaccurate with regard to food, drinks, staffing and upkeep. I knew when I heard the announcement that they were leaving Hyatt that there would be issues. I did not expect the extreme extent to which this would cause the resort to be reclassified as a do not sell property (for now) in my personal industry assessment. They are facing enormous challenges and unable to operate at its previous AAA 5 Diamond levels due to limitations. While I would like to support them and make sure they do come out of this, I cannot justify paying for the experience as it exists currently. I truly commend their management who is trying their best in a tough situation, but all they can do is sit and wait and see. I recommend, from the POV of a guest, to also wait and watch to see what happens for them come 2024 and beyond. If you choose to go, be fully prepared that it is not like it once was nor like how it is described online.

    Decaying Hotel

I normally do not like to write bad reviews, but this time is inevitable... I really had a very bad experience with my family and felt scammed, since it was not cheap at all. There are many thing about this hotel that are not working… starting with the pool which is freezing, service in the restaurants took forever to get beverages or food and I even needed to stand-up during any meal and clean my own table from the finished dished; nothing about the food is gourmet or even close. In the room everything was in bad condition, the maintenance of everything is extremely poor from the pillows, the doors, the shower EVERYTHING. To make things worse the “supposed” manager of the hotel “Sharon de la O” was extremely rude and never offer a solution or how to fix things, she was totally apathetic and unconcerned about the guests. I really had a good expectation since I stayed before on the same chain of hotels Dreams & Breathless which were part of AM resorts, but now that it’s under Hyatt I wouldn’t recommend considering this hotel at all, not for family, couples or any other. Fortunately we booked thru Hotwire.com and they help us move from hotel without any penalties, they understood the situation and really did everything to support us during this very bad experience.

Stay at the Zoetry Paraiso de La Bonita

This is advertised as a Luxury 5 star small boutique resort and the location and layout are very nice. Our suite was spacious and well set up. Maid service every day twice was good and towels and other stuff needed was replaced promptly. The resort shows a bit of wear and tear but that's not really a problem. The staff is mostly friendly and helpful but sometimes a bit slow in understanding. Again, no problem because we are in Mexico and it is their country and we need to adapt. I had the feeling that the friendliness was a bit forced and constant tipping was somewhat expected. We rather tip once during a stay for good service, not daily where one has to carry around all type of cash. The restaurant food was good but at all restaurants we felt that service was rushed (the next course arriving when still eating the previous) and inconsistency at the breakfast at KAAX. One day we got pastries, another day not, had to ask for toast and butter, just small things that we noticed. The specialty nights were not well advertised, one had to either ask which restaurant was open or if there was a special. The menu on the App was not posted until just before dinner time. My biggest complaint about this resort is that on the pool every time there is even a mild wind blowing, the umbrellas are not allowed to be opened. We happen to have several windy days and I can understand strong wind gusts, but on two days there was no wind at all and nobody said that umbrellas can be opened until we finally asked and were given the okay. The beach area was vigorously cleaned during our stay, but with the strong surf and heavy waves, plus the wind, nobody used it. We managed to walk along the beach once. Don't expect top shelf alcohol products, my husband was offered Beefeater for his Gin/Tonic!! I visited the Spa for a facial and that was very nice and relaxing. What I missed was music of some kind playing or some show offerings in the evening; I did not expect large productions but basically after dinner one could either get a drink at the Library Bar or Pool Bar and sit around or go back to the suite for the rest of the evening. We are very laid back and entertainment is not a large priority for us when selecting a resort, but the Zoetry basically retired after dinner. We used AMstar for our transfer and are very happy with that company. Clean cars and always on time
