    Need More Jamaican food.

Overall, the trip was great from transportation with Amstar to the ability to enjoy Breathless and Secrets St James resorts. Secrets Wild Orchids had great entertainment and accommodations. I only have one complaint; Jamaican cuisine was very limited at breakfast time at the only Jamaican Restuarant on property: Blue Mountain. Dinner was better but also somewhat limited. The escovitch fish wasn’t prepared in traditional Jamaican style. In the Preferred Club the food was great all day, everyday. I will return and hopefully experience more Jamaican food at the Jamaican restaurant 😀.

The grounds and beach are beautiful again the drink waiters throughout the day couldn’t do enough for you!! The buffet food I have to say as buffets go was amazing fresh food we almost wished it was open for dinner too the other restaurants were ok with the French restaurant being our favourite!! Great beaches, pool, food, and decent service

TLDR: Good resort with great beaches & pool that's close to airport with not much seaweed during September. Food is really good when compared with other resorts, especially the steak, curried goat, ox tail stew, and shrimp burgers! Patties were not very good unfortunately. Rooms are decent, slightly dated, but still very nice with good and quiet air condition. Can get noisy at night because there's an on-site night-club and people can get drunk loud, especially if your room happens to face the club. Things do quiet down after 10/11pm, and rooms are pretty soundproof to reduce any noise. Service is overall good, you do get some less enthusiastic staff here and there - tips help a lot. You get access to Secrets St James, Breathless and Wild Orchid. All the restaurants were on the Wild Orchid so it's very convenient. Only restaurant that requires reservations is if you want to do hibachi where the cook sings & entertains as they cook. All other restaurants are walk-in from 6-10pm (lots of space and generally empty until 8pm). All bars on the resort open at 10am. Resort is ~20min away from Sangster Airport, so very easy to get there by taxi or private transfer. Island Transfers is a decent and affordable way to get to & from. Check-in staff were very friendly. Arrived noon on Saturday and unfortunately room was not available until 3pm (their stated check-in time). I think their cleaning services are understaffed. They hold your luggage securely in a room and you can go eat & wander the grounds until room is ready. Wear light clothes because it's beautifully hot! Room: cleaning staff need to vacuum better. Some hairs found on floor, which could put some off. Overall it was quite clean, albeit slightly dated rooms in need of touch-ups as demonstrated from cracks, paint chips, and discolored caulking. Resort/Beaches/Pool: get there early to reserve shaded seats (before 8am). If you like full sun all day, you won't need to get up as early. Beach was perfect and not too far from the resort, loungers, or pool. So you can alternate between beach & pool frequently. There were some jelly fish in the ocean but they were harmless. You can pick them up and touch them. Their stings are slight pinches with no aftereffects. Pools were clean and cool. The could use more foam floaties. The air floaties got broken by a few larger individuals...You also have access to St James' pools if you so choose to go there. Food: World Cafe: you have breakfast & lunch buffet here. closed during dinner. Breakfast is good with a few egg stations and a huge variety of food. Lunch is also really good with some more Jamaican food like mutton and curried goat. If there's steak, get it! They make some very good steak. Also, the freshly cooked pasta station is really good and you can have your choice of protein (chicken, clams, mussels, etc.), sauce, spices, and pasta type. Surprisingly, the pasta was not overcooked! French (Bordeaux) was by far the best - filet mignon was cooked/seasoned perfectly, rack of lamb, duck, and creme brulee were all highlights. Come here as a priority and just go straight for the mains! Jamaican (Blue Mountain) was decent. The crab appetizer was good along with their curried goat and oxtail stew. Japanese/Chinese/Hibachi was decent & entertaining. The cook sings, engages, and entertains the group while cooking up some stir-fry beef, chicken, veg, and rice. Make reservations at the World Cafe host and do it a few days in advance because there's very limited spots. You can also walk-in and they have an al-a-catre menu that is thai/chinese food. Never tried this, didn't look great. Mexican (El Patio) was not very good, the fajita was flavourless and the tacos weren't great either. Italian (Portofino) was also not very good. Pasta was overcooked and so was the fish. the freshly cooked pasta at the buffet was much better and highly recommended! Cafe had decent coffee & espresso, and serves some pastries & sandwiches. You can also get Irish, Spanish, etc. coffee here where they mix in some booze. Good place to get you going early before the bars open at 10am! Overall, really enjoyed the stay. Very close to a 5 star, just a few minor things to update/change.

    Wonderful Resort

My husband and I had an amazing time for his birthday! I will definitely be back! The staff are extremely nice, and the resort is clean. We had two wonderful butlers, and they took care of all of our needs.
