    BDay Vacation

I stayed at Riu Palace Jamaica in Sept. for my Bday, it was a wonderful experience. My room was large, very clean with a balcony and a view of the ocean. The food and drinks were amazing. I will definitely be back.

Best Vacay Ever — Riu Palace Jamaica!!!🏝️😘💛

If you are struggling with where to stay and you want all adult and all inclusive, this is your resort! We found it: — impeccably clean — fabulous meal service, almost every server is excellent. Shoutout to Tarsha for being my favorite of all and to Cookie! — wonderful food and I gained 3 pounds from the ice cream alone! Breakfast on point, great coffee, don’t miss the coffee spot in the Aqua bar. I didn’t discover the early morning offerings til near end. — entertainment day and night is classy and so much fun! Shoutout to Star Fire, Dr Fun and whole team. They made our stay SO enjoyable! — our checkin was a little rough. But once it got sorted we had a lovely room with garden and pool view. Quiet and comfortable sleep. — I would return anytime!!! Thanks Riu Palace!!!

Not what we thought it would be at all! Would not recommend

We booked Jamaica after going to cancun i. 2022. Booked Rui palace as it was adults only, and it was advertised as the better hotel, with better facilities. Restaurants etc. To start our room was no where near what we thought it would be, decor was dated. Paint peeling off on the wardrobes and furniture, shower tiles damaged, shower head leaked, light fittings bent and hanging off the wall. We asked about an upgrade but all they could offer was a sea view with the same decor for …. Wait for it …. Another $648 for the 10 nights! The food was terrible I’m sorry to say, breakfast was very limited, things like pancakes weren’t freshly made so just sat there sweating, cooked breakfast wasn’t always available, waiting up to 10 minutes for them to bring more bacon or eggs out. 24 hour food is a massive misconception. All there is, is a small bar and fast food counter that does fried chicken etc. Not 5 star! At all. We will say that the entertainment team around the pool were amazing. They made a big effort and we enjoyed the games each day. Some of the staff behind the counter and bars could be a little stand off. We hated the fact that if you walked out the hotel to go to the pharmacy or shop over the road, you were literally bombarded by locals trying to sell you crap, drugs or just trying to get you to pay them a $1 for them pressing the level crossing button for you! Your on holiday you shouldn’t feel constantly bombarded with stuff you don’t want. Jamaica is obsessed with drugs and the constant harassment from men in canoes who patrol the beaches trying to sell it really wore thin by the end of the holiday. We ventured into town one day in a taxi, just to get out the hotel. My partner had to get cash and I had to stay at the bar we were at as their card machine wouldn’t work and they wouldn’t allow both of us to leave, my partner went down to find a cash point and was harassed by locals trying to get her to go with them. She came back upset and we immediately went back to the hotel. This is by no means Rui’s fault but it’s just another thing that makes us certain we won’t return to Jamaica. The hotel didn’t offer enough things to do. We found ourselves in the same routine, get up. Gym (which was shocking). Outdated Hardly any room and equipment also boiling hot! Then round the pool. Lunch. Pool. Tea and bed! Very boring. One final thing. My partner was turning 30 while we were out there. We noticed you could have a private dinner on the beach. We guessed (how wrong we were) that you could book this as a special request for such an occasion and give a hefty tip. Infact they wanted $200!! Just for you to eat on the beach. This is a 5 star hotel apparently that we paid £2400 Each! For 10 days and then they still try and get more out of you. One last thing, if it weren’t for the fact we didn’t want to be bombarded going over the street for supplies, we ended up using the shop inside for a few things, but the prices they charged were disgusting. For a bag of M&M’s and bag of skittles and a tube of Colgate toothpaste …….. $14! We went over the road the day after for something else and we could have got the same items for $7!! And that’s with $1 for paying the local to “help” you cross the road! Anyway. Sorry to say we would definitely not recommend RUI palace. Or Jamaica itself!

    Mixed feelings

Pros and Cons but overall I’m happy with our stay. I love Cancun but our friends did not want to go there so, we chose Jamaica for our 25th anniversary trip. PROS: 90% of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Naveene upgraded us when she found out it was our 25th anniversary. Paul, Cristal and Kay Anne (pool staff) were open, friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed talking to them. They work hard and they’re good people. The pool entertainment is awesome!!! They just really want everyone to have fun. Black Panther was extra entertaining! He really got involved a couple days and had everyone laughing! Our housekeeper, Nikki, Z and her team did a wonderful job of making a room special for our 25th anniversary. The buffet food is the best and the staff for the buffet Dinner is absolutely wonderful. We had Nikki and her team for dinner. Nikki and Tasha went all out for our anniversary and brought flowers from home to decorate our table. The hotel grounds are very clean. The bathrooms around the bar pool are impressively clean. I really like that you have the option to go to both of the other resorts. We really enjoyed going over to reggae for jerk, chicken and hanging out at the pool at Mobay. We really enjoyed using the water park. The guys who come up on kayaks on the beach are very polite when they ask you if you would like some thing and you say no thank you, that’s not your thing, they always say, much respect. I do appreciate that respect level. CONS: 10% of the staff are not very friendly. I always smiled and said good morning or hi to everyone, some would just look at me & ignore me. The breakfast staff that faces the bar pool are not friendly at all. Felicia & Pricilla are rude and mean. And two different days I watch the lady great other tables and take their drink orders, but not once did ours. I noticed that they were more friendly if you had darker colored skin. The men who work over there only care about, standing around and talking to each other. However, the breakfast staff near the dinner entrance buffet. They are wonderful and nice. I’m just sad that we didn’t realize it until 3 days before we left. The entertainment at night got a little frustrating, because there wasn’t always enough seating available so we would leave and go to one of the other two resorts for entertainment. we used the paddle boats, but we were forced to tip the staff by the staff and then told to get them drinks. I didn’t mind at all getting the drinks, the problem is, it was rude because they didn’t ask us, they told us. At RIU Mobay & Reggae when the pool bars were full, it was very difficult to get service. I would get walked past and serviced over, it felt like a racial thing. I was not the only person to feel this way. We met 2 other couples who felt the same way. The RIU MoBay crowd is a little rough and ghetto. The taxi driver that is out front of the hotel took us across the street where we were hustled. We found out the next day during an excursion when the local driver told us that those taxi drivers and the people at the store split the money that they hustle off you. We paid $90 for a bottle of rum and we saw the same bottle of rum at the green apples store across the street for $35. Overall our trip was great! We tried to avoid the negatives to keep our trip positive. RIU Palace - please get a better music system! Mobay and Reggae way outshine you when it comes to their system for music. We asked DJ fun fun to turn it up and they told us that is as loud as it goes! lol trash
