What you would expect
We stayed May 2022 for a week. I've stayed at the RIU Jalisco a couple of times and was hoping it would be similar as they have a great pool and friendly staff. The pool bar pool was a bit dirty from all the drunk folks packed in there (expected - so not a big deal) and my partner enjoyed jumping into a few volleyball games. The entertainment was fun and the staff worked hard. We have traveled to Mexico many times and Vallarta quite a few so we like to try new spots. Also it's a vacation - not the time to be super fussy and stressed, so keep that in mind for this review. Good: Beds were pretty comfortable and linens were nice. The restaurant options were plentiful and we always found something to enjoy. The drinks were tasty and the beach is really pretty and nice for swimming. The room cleaning staff seemed to work 24 hours a day and I appreciated their smiles when I passed them in the halls. The mini bar was kept stocked and we had all the essentials. One morning we were having breakfast and there were a group of women beside us who were absolutely laying into the server for some trivial thing, and I was impressed with how calm the server was and how she tolerated that treatment. I said something to them ladies and after that they were nicer, but please be kind. People work hard. I appreciated the drying rods on the balcony so we could swim as much as we wanted. Not so good: This is a place to play. It is not a quiet resort so be prepared. Lots of families were there with their littles, and it was nice to see folks enjoying themselves with kids sleeping in strollers after a long day, but I wondered how they slept given how loud things are lol. The hotel is in a U shape and all the events happen in the middle, so the sounds just bounce off the building. It is definitely a fun vibe, rather than a romantic one. No room service so you can't have a nice coffee in your room in the morning. Be prepared to go downstairs for everything. OVERALL - we probably won't visit again, but it was a pleasant week away with all the requisite drinks, sun, beach and helpful staff. Thanks RIU!
First time in Mexico and first time staying in a Riu hotel, I can't say anything negative about my experienc at all. Everything was great, the location, the staff, the room, the food, all of it. Highly recommended!
Overall a fab place friendly inviting resort lots to do spend your holiday how ever you want quiet or as lively as you like although September is a extremely hot 🔥 time to visit humidity is very high 😀
We have stayed at RIU Vallarta 6 times now, I would recommend this hotel to anyone, the staff and great, nothing no trouble if you have a complaint, sorted straight away. Buffet restaurant excellent, so are the al a cartes. We are already booked to come back there next year, can’t wait. 😀❤️
We stayed at the RIU Vallarta from August 1-8, 2023. We had an amazing stay. The hotel was very clean, the food was fantastic with a great variety. The entertainment staff always had things on the go for everyone. There was plenty of seating on the beach but needed to get a seat early if you wanted to be around the pool with the swim up bar. The Sports Bar offered 24 hr snacks and 2 of the bar tenders stood out in there. Israel was always so friendly with a smile and a "woot woot". Mario was fantastic in the evenings and always did an amazing job with the busy crowds. He was extremely friendly and always smiling. Made our stay very special.
