Nice hotel, 100% noisy
We are a group of 4 brits (2 x couples aged 40-50) celebrating BIG birthdays. My review is long but honest. Hope you find it useful Location Actually situated in Ironshore rather than Mobay which is a few miles down the road. It's a short transfer from the airport. Plenty of taxi options in the lobby offering rides/days out. A return trip to the Hip Strip is $40. The drivers also do free trips to the souvenir shops over the road but expect a tip. We spent a couple of full days with a private driver called Derrick Walters, such a lovely guy who looked after us really well sharing his local knowledge. He took us wherever we wanted to go in his air conditioned, well maintained car. Being a party of 4, it was cheaper than booking excursions per person with TUI. Derrick is happy for anyone to contact him on 0018767766228. We used WhatsApp Food and restaurants Food in the buffet restaurant is nice and plentiful but very repetitive each day with very little variation. We tried all 4 speciality restaurants, nice to have a change from the buffet style. You make reservations via the RIU app and don't seem to be limited to how many visits. Slow service in the Italian but it offers a better steak than the steak restaurant plus the steak restaurant is outdoors so its really hot! At poolside there is Pepes open from 12-3 serving salads, jerk chicken and curried goat. Expect to queue for 20 mins for this everyday, It's lovely food though Staff and entertainment Everyone works flat out all the time and guests are looked after in the restaurants, bars, house keeping and entertainment. Be sure to tip where you can which is much appreciated. Reception staff hit and miss, everything needs to be routed through the app. There is a full entertainment programme everyday from 10am-5pm of games, fitness and pool activities. There is evening entertainment every night, we saw live bands, dance shows, steel bands and they have either a white or neon party every Friday so bring some clothes to dress to the theme. It's a night where the hotel goes 'all out' with a DJ, dancers, balloons etc. It's good fun. There is also a mad foam party every Wednesday afternoon Pool area There are 5 pools, all very warm water, not very refreshing at all. Theres a selection of water slides which are all fast flowing. There is a swim up bar pool with tables and stools. We gave that a miss as its always very busy and people on the booze from opening at 10am until close at 6pm. I was concerned about the cleanliness of this pool. Someone vomited in it during our stay so it had to be closed for cleaning 🤢 On the plus side, there are plenty of sunbeds and shade so no need to rush to reserve Rooms We had a 'garden view' room in block 1. Huge comfy bed, large bathroom with twin sinks and walk in power shower. All really clean. Mini bar is filled up every 2 days and has 4 bottles of spirits on tap and a range of soft drinks, beers and water. Good AC Beach and water sports Non motorised water activities are included in all inclusive packages, you need to sign a disclaimer before participating accepting risk of injuries. The beach is not great, man made, hard under foot, no shade apart from the trees and I would recommend sea shoes for the sea as the sea bed is full of reeds. If you want a nice beach, do not come here, go to Negril The clientele - sadly this is what spoils my review The hotel is 100% a party hotel and has a very heavy American female clientele. Many come for a few days (as we would travel to Europe) and rinse every second out of their stay. There is not a moment of peace and quiet with shouting morning till night and also through the night. There is no consideration for anyone sleeping as people shout in the corridors regardless of the time, it's relentless and exhausting. We were advised not to confront any noisy neighbours at our welcome meeting so when it got unbearably noisy during the night, we called the front desk who said they would send someone round. Nothing happened to our knowledge and the noise continued. There is no peace during the day either. Don't expect to snooze or concentrate on reading a book as its impossible due to the constant loud music and screeching. At check out we were asked about our stay, I said it had been too noisy and the receptionist just laughed. It's clearly a well known issue In summary At the time of booking our holiday, we trawled trip advisor and nobody mentioned how rowdy this place is. Had we known, we would have avoided it like the plague. If you want peace and relaxation, find somewhere else. Don't make the mistake we did. If you're coming to party, and don't mind the noise you will love it.

Lovely holiday
We had a lovely two weeks here the hotel food and service you could not fault. Only a few little things that would stop me going back was the dj round the party pool was a added bonus but it was so loud that you could not here yourself speak which was a bit disappointing. And the music which I can understand you play to your audience was mainly young American rap . As we are from the uk we were hoping as being in Jamaica we would here some reggae but sadly not to be . But if your young and want to party this is the resort for you

Give it a miss
This hotel is advertised through TUI as adults only...which it is, only you'd read that as mature people, a resort with people who show respect to others, general politeness amongst holiday makers and in general a good fun place to be with areas to go and relax away from loud music or activities well it's not, without disclosing nationalities the majority of tourists came from one large country not to far to the north anyway, very loud, ignorant and disrespectful to the degree that virtually everyday we had young females cavorting their barely dressed bodies for mini quite explicit photo shoots with their friends, which is fine in their own space but not around the restaurant area or other walkways and areas used by the other tourists. It is remarkably easy to passively inhale marijuana smoke because it was bein used everywhere by these same people not I hasten to add Jamaicans, who were very friendly and helpful. The music bar 'RIU Party' plays music at a volume that is capable of being heard at the far corners of the resort and most farthest point on the beach so the likelihood of getting a bit of peace and quiet is minimal. All this said the food was pretty good most of the time and the service we received was very good. We did however see the TUI rep twice during our 14 day stay once when we arrived and the day we left, not sure what they did in between. Would definitely not go back to that resort.

Positive reviews are misleading
Honestly very surprised by the positive reviews. Went with a group of 6 friends to celebrate a birthday, staff was okay some were nicer than others. Read the reviews prior to staying and chose this hotel because of the reviews but it was the complete opposite. Two of the couples upgraded our room to an ocean view and we received a pool side view. Furthermore the room was not clean we had to call to get the sheets changed, the room was not stocked with towels or ready when we arrived at 3. Our bathroom handle was broken and we were locked in the bathroom. Hotel was run down, many leaks, the food was the same food recycled and served again each night. There are 5 restaurants, the Asian restaurant was buffet style and food was below average, Italian restaurant was okay, steak and other fancy restaurant is difficult to get into unless you go right when they open or they book up because they don’t do reservations. Buffet was okay. Honestly spend the extra hundred or so and attend a better hotel. We thought this would be a good hotel to party to but the events were also sub par and so were the drinks… Best parts of our trip was the excursions outside the hotel, wouldn’t go back. Don’t recommend.

Holiday in Jamaica
This is a fantastic hotel. The rooms and general facilities are clean, the food in Rose Hall is great. I struggled with the other restaurants and I wrote on the internal review that improvements were needed for the food in the other restaurants but overall a great stay and I will be visiting the hotel again. A note to the more mature reader of this. Yes the hotel is an adults only hotel and has a young and vibrant feel especially with its entertainment. So if you are looking for something that is more formal, less loud music, less of a party feel, you don't enjoy the laughter of youth and fun and a lot of twerking. Maybe this is not the location for you but Riu in Ochio or Negril maybe more appropriate for the more Conservative guest. I loved everything about it but I'm still at an age where I enjoy parties and clubs etc. So just a heads up, there are Riu's that cater for everyone, you just need to do your research and choose the one that suits the kind of holiday you are looking for. So any reviews that are negative i would argue are from folks that needed to choose an alternative location. Anyway, congrats to all the staff who make this place such a great place to stay. It's hot but you keep up the consistent service. Well done and thanks to Jackie the TUI rep in particular. TUI, your staff are exceptional, so kind and so lovely.
