Nice resort with plenty of space and lots of wildlife!

This is a very nice resort. The rooms were spacious (we stayed in Maya suites) with excellent AC and ceiling fans above bed ( a must when we travel to Mexico). The staff were very friendly, entertainment was also great (they do a great job with that). Even though my kids are teenagers I saw that there were many activities for the younger ones as well. They are also plastic free so there are no plastic bottles at all. They use filtered water, which is hard to get used to flavor wise. I think that would be my only complaint is the taste of the water there. But everything else was really great. People still reserve the pool loungers with towels but they have so many there that we were always able to find some. We are not early risers and a great pet peeve of mine is having to wake up early on vacation to reserve chaises (whether by pool or beach). Here we did not have any issues with that at all. Food was good in buffet, not the best but still plenty of options. I also liked that they had Mexican options at every meal. We like their authentic food and it did not disappoint. Restaurants I can’t comment too much on since we only went to one. Service was for the most part good, at certain times was slow. I think our favorite part about the resort was all the wildlife we saw. Due to the many mangroves throughout the resort we got to see coatis, agoutis, anteater, iguanas, and one day we even saw a spider monkey with a baby!

    Definitely would come back

Loved the place. Very nice and clean and the kids loved it. Food was really good too. Greek place and la marina was our favorite for dinner. Didn’t get to try the Japanese place. And we had the best golf cart chauffeur Javier! He helped us get a reservation at the steakhouse when it was already full! Great guy was always checking on us!

We return because of the wonderful staff

5th stay over about 12 years. The staff is fantastic… attentive but appropriate. Frankly on of the reasons we repeat is the quality of the staff. One of our party was not feeling well, and several staff went out of their way to check up on him during the day and the next day. That doesn’t happen at other places in our experience. We highly recommend this resort, and we will come back again!

    Simply Amazing

I went to the Paraíso Maya hotel on July 2025 and it was amazing, from the beautiful golf course, to the waterpark and countless restaurants serving international cuisine. The rooms were amazing and comfortable, I highly recommend it for family and friends.

Great for kids, but the push for “membership” is too much

We stayed a week at Maya. I will try not to repeat what others have already said. My reference is from staying at many different big resort chains throughout the Caribbean and Mexico (Barcelo, Riu, Secrets, Iberostar, Paradisus, Bahia Principe, Beaches). Rooms in Maya are spacious. We were in the 62 building and it is right in the middle of the resort rooms. It’s close to the main & wave pools. The rooms were clean and ac worked GREAT. In fact we were chilly at night. Linens are rough and towels/washclothes are scarce. We had to ask for them and when we got extras, housekeeping removed them the next day and didn’t replace them. (If you remove 4 towels/wash clothes replace with 4). The resort is huge. We rode the cart around to most areas for meals and walked to the pools and lobby. Still… I tracked 16K-20K steps a day!! Mostly in sandals and flip-flops so my feet hate me now. We hated the heavy push for the membership/timeshare thing. When we arrived, I said “no thanks” once and twice. One day 2, we had to take my son to the medical center and stopped to asked the concierge for directions. After asking our name and room number, they asked us to come to the presentation AGAIN. (While we were worried about our child). Said “no thanks”. On day 3 they called our room to ask us, yet again, with the breakfast invitation. Anytime we asked the concierge any questions, they tried to get us to a presentation. I hate that. Feeling like you can’t ask a question or for help without being badgered to attend the breakfast. On top of that, every time we tried to get a reservation… it said No… go ask concierge for assistance. Are they holding reservations only for those specific people that go to the breakfast presentation? I’ve never stayed at a resort with a heavier push for membership/timeshare and honestly it’s one of the reasons we won’t be back. The pools and water slides are great for kids and adults. That’s the best part of this resort. Without it, it’s just regular. The beach has sargassum. But so does all of the Yucatán. We went to Puerto Morales a day. Perfectly clear water. Snorkeled right off the beach. ($28 taxi) The buffet breakfast is the best! The lunch and dinner buffets are repeat foods and the restaurants serve some of the same buffets food just with a variation on spices. Did not care much for the buffets but it was the only option we could easily get. Ate at the Spaghetti Factory and Mediterranean restaurants too. Great chocolate fondue. Pick up some liquor at duty free when you arrive. The drinks at the hotel are water. This can be common at most all inclusive. Or maybe just the bars we were going to.
