I really like the Dreams properties and this one was especially nice. I enjoyed the fact that it is so close to the airport and that the property is rather compact in comparison to many resorts. It's still large but there is easy access to all the amenities. We really enjoyed all of the restaurants but were particularly pleased with the French option, Bordeaux. Service was superb throughout, but the resort itself didn't quite have the pre-Covid elegance. Just the little things, not critical to a good time, but special touches which I'm sure is due to the intense financial blow they must have experienced. I would definitely go here again.
Terribly loud and bad food
I’ll start with the good… the employees are wonderful and really seek to please and make your stay wonderful! The fire show was fantastic! My daughter enjoyed the movie nights. Now, the bad… This is not the resort to visit if you want to be able to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. It is incredibly LOUD all the time. We woke up to blasting music at 8am, endured blasting music from noon to 6pm at the pool (which can be heard all over the resort complex) and then wedding music blasted every night until 11pm. Calling the front desk and explaining we had a young child trying to sleep did not help. One afternoon, I had to leave the pool because the music was so terribly loud… even with earplugs, I could still hear the pounding music loud and clear IN my room- it was awful. I couldn’t escape the pounding music. The problem seems to be that the resort is so small that it’s impossible to section off quiet areas from the pools (all are next to each other- all are loud) and the wedding venues/beach areas. So, it was just loud all day. People are also very loud and noise echoes in the hallways. One morning, we were also awakened by some sort of alarm that was going off for at least 5 minutes, prior to 8am. These alarms went off a few times each day. I also didn’t appreciate weddings being valued over guest experience. While I understand the resort wants weddings to be enjoyable, it seemed nuts that was prioritized over all the other guests… and ruining the experience for everyone else. If you’re a foodie, this is NOT the place to come. The quality of the food was mediocre, at best. We ended up eating at the buffet most nights because the restaurants were only “eh.” I’ve been to many resorts with much better food. I’ve also never tasted ice cream that was so disgusting (how do you mess up ice cream?!) and butter that was rancid. A positive: Our room was nicely cleaned every day. We requested it through the app, along with any other needs, which were always quickly handled. The activity staff is also very nice! The kids club is ok, but my daughter wasn’t too enthused, which was disappointing. Also, they are only open until 8pm, instead of 10pm, as listed on the website and in the kids club, itself. If you are the type of person who doesn’t mind loud, loud, and loud all day, from 8am to 11pm, and you don’t care much about the food, then this resort will be fine and meet your needs. But if you want to enjoy the serene beauty and be able to sleep peacefully and enjoy delicious food, spend a little more money and check out a better resort. We won’t be returning to Dreams because of the endless noise and mediocre food.
Staff was incredible. Dani was at every activity and was great with my kids, and was the leader in many shows! Claudina gave us great service at Oceana, and Carlos at the pool bar was exceptional. Overall, everyone was very positive and helpful.
Great Time at Dreams RC
My family visited Dreams RC for the third time in 7 years recently and we came away with new stories to tell about our visit. From our transfer driver Jorge, who is an incredibly wonderful guy, to the service from start to end at the resort, we had another wonderful vacation. Our room was bright and clean and was a non factor - as it should be. The food was special, especially the French restaurant and Portofino exceeded our expectations again. The entertainment team worked hard to keep everyone active and having fun. I highly recommend the bike ride into Puerto Morelos with Richi. It was an unexpected gem for us. He made the trip fun, educational, and actually got us to exercise a bit without complaint. Jhesus and the pool staff were very engaging, upbeat and kept things fun. Daniel and Jose at the beach bar were our favorites. They were very nice and did so many little things that added to our enjoyment. My wife and I would walk / run each morning and the guys would always have a bottle of water waiting on us when we would return. We met new friends and had more laughs there than at any other part of the trip and Daniel and Jose were a big part of that. I have to mention that the seaweed is a real problem in this area. We were very disappointed at the amount of seaweed on the beach and in the water. In fact, we were unable to go into the water, minus a 3 minute swim from my 10 year old because she was not leaving until she swam in the ocean. The seaweed cannot be blamed on the resort or the staff because they fought the problem all week from sun up until sun down. Just be aware that it is a problem and dont be shocked when you see it. Despite that, The level of service that we receive at the resort always amazes me. This is one of our favorite resorts to visit and we will definitely come back again.
If you are a beach person, the seaweed will be a major issue. We typically stay at secrets as UVC members and have never been disappointed, however we were finally able to take our son and we learned the difference between resorts. I should have realized there would be differences, but I didn’t and it made for a lot of disappointing comparisons. Too many people in the pool because the beach was in such bad shape, long lines and waits to do things and weird layouts of rooms when you need to change or get dressed and your teen is in the room.
